I went and traded in my gamecube today and paid off my Wii preorder at Eb. The guy kept trying to get me to buy a sd card and I kept saying no to it. I was under the impression that you didn't need a sd card for it. Do you need one to save your games?

the wii has 512mb built in flash memory. that can be used to save games.

you don't NEED one until you fill up the 512 mb of internal memory

Which isn't likely to happen real fast. VC games will be pretty tiny, and most saved games are small too.

Also,

Dont buy your SD cards at EB Games, Gamestop, or anyplace else that specializes in games only. Since the Wii uses regular SD cards, you will almost always find a better deal at Fry's, Circuit City, or someplace that deals with more general electronics.
