HA I hate you guys and your finds! I almost decided to just sleep in but I ended up going out for 5 hours since it was my first Saturday morning off in almost 2 months.
Heard I missed out on a few PS2s and Gamecubes (eh no biggie), and 2 system only NESs. Passed on PS1, PS2, PS3, Xbox, Wii, DS, GBA shovelware and a couple PS1s. "Thats the deal of the day"..........dirty ass Wii with dirty controllers and shovelware for $50. They had the case for Super Smash Bros Brawl marked $5 but no disc or booklet to be found (we checked inside the Wii). Most people said "no we dont have anything like that" or "we do but we still play that". I actually had a few people go inside and double check for once, but no dice! Had one lady say "we dont.....we actually had some guy drive by around 4am when we were setting up and asked about video games".......WHO THE FUUU GOES OUT AT 4AM?!
Well I hope he wasnt too shocked that people lowballed him at yardsales.........who asks $100 for a SNES at a freaking yardsale?! Its like the morons on Craigslist, if you want "what it goes for on Ebay" then PUT IT ON EBAY!
With that said, I just drive around in a circle around town looking for sales and signs. Sometimes I go a few towns over if I decide to hit up the Goodwills as well. If theyre smart enough to put it on CL then theyre probably looking stuff up on Ebay. If its on CL or in the paper and mentions video games I dont even bother because I know someones already gonna be there.
Not much lately. Been working Thursdays-Sundays so no yardsales and Ive stopped going to Goodwill as much since they sell on ShopGoodwill. I got my Loot Crate today, pretty good one this month. Yeah those are Donatello sunglasses!
Wow, just got an email from someone who bought my PS3. They say it doesnt read any discs and they want a full refund plus $17 to ship it back..........thats funny because it worked for the 2 whole games of Madden 25, 2 hrs of Soul Calibur IV, and the Blu Ray I tested on it before I boxed it up! Cant say I expected much from someone with 1 Feedback! Told them I dont except returns (thats is all my listings btw) because I clean and test everything before mailing it out but if they mail it back I will give a refund not including shipping because the item was Free Shipping in the first place! I always cringe when people with less than 10 Feedback buy my stuff!! Im sure Ebay will side with them if they complain though, theyre always on their knees pleasing the buyers even if Ive been on there 8 years and the buyers been on there maybe 1 year.
I saw a Wii Balance Board for $6 today but Ive got 2 already. Also saw plenty of sports games, take your pick (SNES, Genesis, Xbox, PS1, PS2), a $50 as is Xbox 360 Core model that "doesnt read discs", and some sealed DS/Wii shovelware in the glasscase.
Ended up grabbing this though, I think this GW is trying to redeem itself with me. 4 outta 4 trips have produced finds.
Finally got a Saturday off. Went out for 5hrs today since noone wanted to go with......tons of "we dont have anything like that", "my kids would have to find in the basement", and a few "we still play ours", and one "nope youre the second person to ask". At least Ive only heard that last line once! I even asked at a couple houses if someone else asked for games. Sounds like most people want jewelry, bluray players, and.....knives. I left my number with 5 or 6 of the "basement" people. I had one old lady and her husband going back and forth about if they still had what I assumed was a R.O.B. for NES, he thinks they sold it but still have the box....I said Id take that. A couple others were vague about what they "might have" but it sound like Atari, SNES, or N64 stuff.
Passed on a PS1, some meh games for it, and an Xbox DVD remote and sensor (im about to softmod mine anyways so I wouldnt need it). One lady said "you wouldnt want this? Its only $3 hun!" Just got done cleaning it all and its all working. (Magic Eraser actually like smeared the paint in some spots for some reason though) Good thing I still had my extra RF coaxial adapter.
Most GWs around here keep the discs in a binder behind the counter. Went to a few places today.
Salvation Army- closed on Sundays (probably shouldve checked that online before driving there durrr)
GW2- this one does leave discs in the cases, everything was all messed up! They wanted $25 for a system only NES and $15 for a dirty Atari Flashback. The guy behind me I thought was looking it up on Ebay....he was actually waiting for a NES behind the counter that had all the cables and 2 controllers, $30. Shouldve went to this store first I guess! I ended up getting a complete copy of Resident Evil 3 PC for $1.
GW3- See a bag with a GameBoy Pocket and 8 games marked "$25 AS-IS". I was thinking "knowing this Goodwill its probably 8 shitty sports games and the GBP wont even work!". I asked to see it, the guy who always marks games stupid high brings over a couple batteries so I can test it, system works/screen has like no scratches/IT HAD THE BATTERY COVER FOR ONCE, then I flip through the games.....Bo Jackson Football/Baseball.....Quarterback Club.....Jordan Vs Bird One On One with peeling label, Play Action Football.... WWF RAW *this point im like "called it"*.....Tetris.....Zelda Link's Awakening *"here we go!"*........Mega Man IV!!!!
Welp thats a first for me @ Goodwill! PS3 80GB CECHK01 with composite cable and power cable- $64 and change. Im running the system restore right now, its been on 35 mins and hasnt YLOD'd and its actually pretty clean looking. There was a user name on it but no games or anything. Will run my disc drive cleaner disk before trying games and movies. Fingers crossed.
Welp finally broke the no finds streak. This one's more quantity less quality though. Hit up probably 20 sales, left my number with 2 people. Most people said they didnt have games, had noone tell me they already sold some though! This was like the 16th sale so I was getting pretty desperate. I see a table with games- a bin of PS 1 and 2 games, a bin of Xbox and 360 games, and a few Gamecube games. These were individually priced.
Sitting in boxes to the side were NES, N64, and Atari games. I looked at the stickers and they each said $5! I said "how much would you take for the whole box of Nintendo games, these booklets, these 2 Xbox games, and the steering wheel?" We ended up with $55 for everything, which is not a steal but she said she had a SNES and games somewhere and would give me a call so that would sweet'n the deal. Wheel and Xbox games are complete, Shenmue even has the DVD. All the NES stuff I opened up and went to town cleaning with magic erasers. Havent tested them all yet.
$20 for the Nintendo stuff- Puyo Pop Fever is missing the manual but has the Health Warning booklet and some Mail In card. Top of the label on Side Pocket doesnt stick anymore but its all there. Other stuff is almost perfect after a good cleaning!
$3 for Resident Evil Code Veronica X complete
$1 for the 1977 Star Wars album- only missing the Mail In card for a tshirt giveaway. Poster, both albums, sleeves are like mint condition. Cover has a few little marks and tears.
Wish I wouldve went earlier, they had a lot of Target stuff today......no games though. I grabbed these for $1 apiece, saw 2 20 something guys looking at stuff on their phones. Perhaps I have found my competition?
I dont think Id even bother going to yardsales that advertise video games! You know everyone is going to head to those and theres a slim chance youll be first and get anything good. I do best at sales that arent in the paper or on CL. Just drive around and look for them or signs.
