    nes repair blues

I hate to say it but it sounds like the NES's PPU is shot. Not a whole lot you can do about that save for desoldering it and soldering in a new one. You could just replace the entire NES motherboard though but you'd basically just have to buy another NES. Wish I could be of more help.

Contest (CAG Foreplay #50): Win Shipwreck's E3 Swag

I would say for me it's Little Big Planet. I'm a sucker for level editing, especially an editor that works so smoothly. Aside from that what surprised me is how many quirky and interesting titles are coming to the PlayStation Network. Who would have thought that (for me at least) the best part...

NES repairs Photo Journal (56k need not apply!)

Out of curiosity did you get an official Nintendo 72-pin or a generic? Some people swear by the official ones due to a slightly looser grip on the cartridge. I've used both myself and I've never noticed a difference, save for the extra $5 is costs for an official one.

Help Me Remember This Playstation Game

Shot in the dark here, was it possibly Azure Dreams?

    Fixing a GBC cart

You'll need a gamebit (I believe it's the 3.8 size for GB and GBC carts, grab the 4.5 one too, they're cheap enough off eBay) a soldering iron, pliers (or something to grab hot metal with) and a replacement battery. I'm not sure what battery a GBC cart uses, when you remove the old one bring it...

    Modding my Super Nintendo.

Indeed, they should be 100% compatible. Aside from the shape of the cartridge and some minor differences in the power supply the hardware is 100% identical. This goes for games, certain peripherals (the Bandai Satelliview) might not work due to the different shape of the SNES's case, but if you...

Contest (CAG Foreplay #44): Win an NES with 10 Games

You might be an old school gamer if you still own and play any of the games Shipwreck and Wombat referenced in this week's Foreplay.

    Shortest RPG?

I remember Chrono Trigger being pretty short back in the day, something in the order of 15 - 20 hours. It had high replayability (at least for me) so all things being said and done I think I sunk over 100 hours into it. To me though, Chrono Trigger is the essence of a short and rock solid RPG.

    New Hampshire thread

Micro44 - I do recall the place you're talking about, though the name escapes me. I was never too fond of it, I think the only thing I ever bought from there was Mega Man Legends back on the PlayStation. The guy who ran it always struck me as shady. There is another place though, it's on West...

    New Hampshire thread

I'm from Troy myself which is also right down the road from Keene so yeah, limited to pretty much the two Gamestops. The GS in the Colony Mill used to have some decent people working there but they've moved on. Last I knew Keene also had an independent store, Game Express or something of the...
