War Week & CAG Contest - 5 Weeks of $5 Downloadable PC Games at Direct2Drive

Yes, very well. It uses DOSBox, and some minor configuration may be needed to adjust it to your tastes, but it is very easy to get a working install of all the games in the pack.

STEAM weekend deal: Ghost Recon Complete $20

Read the forums before you buy this. I know I had to do a lot of fiddling around with the config files before I got the cross-com working in GRAW, and GRAW 2 never quite ran right. Lot of graphics errors. Maybe new nvidia drivers fixed that, though.

STEAM Weekend Deal: X-COM Complete Pack $4.99

It isn't that it can't run, but that it can't install Steam. PPC Macs have no crossover software, and I don't think Wine will run in OSX on a PPC machine either. The games will run, but Steam won't.

STEAM Weekend Deal: X-COM Complete Pack $4.99

Store pages have manuals. They are on the right hand column, after the general info on the game. Also, XCOM games are extremely well documented, with several in depth strategy guides, beginner guides, and tech information available through a Google search.

STEAM Weekend Deal: X-COM Complete Pack $4.99

Well, UFO, TFTD, and Apoc all run in dosbox, same as any GOG.com dos game, so they would be compatible. The other two, however, are windows games. I haven't read any posts saying they don't run in Vista, but I can't recall any guarenteeing they will. I'm fairly sure Enforcer will run in vista...

STEAM Weekend Deal: X-COM Complete Pack $4.99

The first three (UFO Defense, TFTD, APOC) run in dosbox, so they have no major complications due to age. It also ensures Vista compatibility. The only problem was in the config file that creates some audio glitches, but it is easily fixed with a text editor. They don't even need Steam to run...

Zach and Wiki $20 Walmart YMMV

Yeah, I thought so. I checked the price drop thread and didn't see it mentioned.

Zach and Wiki $20 Walmart YMMV

I was at a Harrodsburg, KY Walmart today and they had 10 or so copies of Zach and Wiki shelved for $20. It looks like this is a universal drop, but it's the first I've seen of it. I heard it was good, so I thought I should mention it.

    Bioshock for $19.99

I was. Installed and played fine. It wasn't like HL2. THAT was a nightmare.

Metal Gear Solid Essentials coming March 18th - $29.99

I'm really getting tired of the "they should have included Twin Snakes" complaint. It was developed by Silicon Knights, not KONAMI! It was written as a Gamecube EXCLUSIVE, and wasn't just a quick and dirty port into the MGS2 engine. It isn't a matter of laziness! It isn't their decision to make...

Metal Gear Solid Essentials coming March 18th - $29.99

I really doubt this pack includes the Persistance disk. The fact that they say Subsistance probably means "the version of MGS3 with the better camera", not what you'd get from buying the subsistance retail package. Regardless, I don't have substance on the PS2 and I don't have MGS on the PS1...
