You did not have to give them your controller. Once you and the BB employee signed off on the trade in and they printed your receipt, they had no legal right to ask you for your controller. That's a legally binding contract which states the transaction is final.

No, but for most next gen games you'll get more without a bonus, especially if you are GCU. I just got $38.50 for Second Son when I would've only gotten $32 if I had traded it in during the 50% bonus last week.
