Grab the transform tool (Q key) then you should be able to drag the rotation point where you need it, and do the rotation.

I can't say that the start/select placement is too odd considering they were in almost the same spot on the original GBA. (on the d-pad side rather than the button side) Though, I've never played an original GBA so take that with a grain of salt.

I'm surprised that there is an IR receiver on the console. I guess it is for the media center remote, but wouldn't an RF remote be better? And plus the RF receiver is already built into the console so possibly less hardware cost.
