The console definitely has hdmi/ hdcp handshake issues. I've found the best way to get around them when the ps4 is misbehaving is to change the input on you tv/tuner/hdmi switch to "something else" and then switch it back. This seems to restart the handshake process and fix lots of issues. NOT...

I would bet MOST early adopters of the PS4 are not relying on it as their only console. I still have my XB360 in my LR..and my PS3 just got moved up to the bedroom (replacing an old blu ray player, which is now migrating to my daughters room). I'm guessing most PS4 buyers are in a similair...

Ditto, with only one exception. We ordered a Freezer from amazon....and had to sign for it. But it wasn't sent via UPS, Fedex, or USPS..it was sent via some freight company who's name I can't remember.

IF it actually adds stability, sure. If it's just piece of mind....meh. It's sitting between two other consoles (OK, console and PC) on a pretty wide, and stable, audio pier that would take 2 large men to move..and is bolted to another piece of furniture. That's really my question. Does it do...

Yeah, that's the "official" stand. I don't think it's coming for a few weeks. But Best Buy has a "Rocketfish" brand stand that looks EXACTLY the same. I'm willing to compromise a bit on a piece of plastic meant to add some base stablity. :) If it stinks, I'll just return it.

List it as defective in your Amazon return and they will typically offer you the option of a replacement/swap OR a refund. Not sure with this, but I'm not sure why it would be different. Doubt it will take them 20 days to get you a new one....but maybe.

I saw someone recommend only DLing ONE thing at a time..not sure if you're doing that..since it doesn't que up the DL's. It tries to pull everything at once. Wonder if your issue is unique to COD patch or not...

2 questions: 1) I'm going vertical with my PS4.  Does it REALLY need a stand? Or will it live without one? 2) On the PS+ trial.  I know it doesn't stack with a current membership (must be new PS+ sub).   BUT, will it work the other way?  I have a 1 yr card I've been sitting on since summer...

Usually, if it's going to require a siggie, it says so on the UPS tracking info (buried, but there). Mine does not request a siggie. Now, he might actually ring the bell and ask for one...we'll see. But he doesn't usually.

It's not you, it's them. :) PSN is having some "slight" problems. I would suggest holding off on downloading anything you don't think you're going to NEED (meaning use on your system) for about 24 to 48 hours. Bet things get a little better once the mass move to DL the firmware update slows...
