This is the Pokémon Diamond and Pokémon Pearl online discussion thread. There is another thread for talking about stuff just about the game in general. Please only post in the appropriate thread.

This two thread system will only remain if the users like it. I have made these as a test for you. Please discuss whether you like it or not and I will act accordingly.

Hmm.. i dont know anything bout the 2 new games.
I will probably get 1 though since Pokemon is fun and it'll be online.

Back in the day my brother got Blue and I got Red. I imagine it's going to be the same this time around since we both want the new Pokemon game, so I'm going to guess that I'm getting Pearl (red box art) and he's getting Diamond (blue box art).
 
Diamond, because I like the pokemon on that cover (blue, I believe it is) better than the red one, and I want it on the GS preorder stylus. :p

I'm tempted to get both, though.
 
If anyone cares, if you go to the link in my sig you can find a program that allows for battling online against other people called NetBattle, also you can learn about battling to make yourself better for online D/P and even get tutored. I recommend checking it out, I'm zerowing there as well.

Ha ha... I completely forgot to put my own reasons up.

Well, I want to get Pearl because I like how a pearl is made. It is basically just nothing to the clam (or clamperl if you want to talk in the Pokemon world) but yet it is so valuable to some people.

I used to netbattle haha actually wasn't too bad at it as I lost a total of ten times or so while winning over 150. Got tiring after awhile though after I finalized my team.

I have heard of NetBatlle before but have never gotten around to doing it. Has everybody had a positive experience with it?
 
Diamond.......and then if im bored ill get Pearl later on.....but with the wifi thing, I think ill be able to get both legendary without having to buy both...
 
If you stay on either the Smogon server or the Pokerealm server (at the same time stay away from the brazillian servers) you shouldn't have any trouble with people, although you get the occasional person that doesn't take losing well. NetBattle basically takes out the training part, so you can jump right into the battles with hundreds of other people. And don't worry about the legality, Nintendo knows of its existence and actually had its own server at one point (has since been taken down).
 
Does anybody know how to edit the poll ending time. I do not want it to be 60 days, lol! If it cannot be done then check back right before they release!
 
I have to go with Diamond - otherwise I'll be too busy laughing at my own lame "pearl necklace" jokes to ever play the game

I'll probably be getting Pearl, as my best friend is a die-hard Pokeyman fangirl who happens to be born in April, and our friendship would be over if I bought Diamond.

Wait, if I've never played a Pokémon game, what would be the best one to start out with? I'd ask my friend since she owns pretty much all of them, but that would just devolve into a lecture on why Charizard = awesome.
 
I'm going with Diamond because it has the exploding Skunk as one of its exclusives. I also don't like the way Palkia looks compared to the Diamond legendary either.

I liked it quite a bit. I played about an hour or two a day for well over a month. Pretty much the same 'ol Pokemon. Though, i never beat it :/

They moved the fighting options and such down to the touch screen, so it basically acts as a control panel. If you hold the DS lite correctly, you can play one handed.. so it's still possible to play Pokemon while you drive.

Apparently, around 450 pokemon are actually available to catch between both games. Most of the ones that aren't out right catchable are previous legendaries and starters.. you have to trade up from the GBA versions to get those at the moment.

I don't plan on buying either US version at the moment, but will pick up the remake when they make it and release it to the states.

That doesn't make me feel any safer knowing that people out on the road are driving AND playing Pokemon at the same time. Sheesh.

QFT Diamond = Blue, Pearl = Pink

Diamond for me. Besides, I heard Diamond has the better Pro-level Pokemon.
 
I preordered Diamond, cause the exclusives sound cooler.

It's been a long time since I've played a pokemon game (way back since the first one, actually). It's gonna feel kinda weird picking it up.

Exploding skunk? I know that I saw some sort of skunk like creature under the Diamond list., but exploding? What does it do?

One of the Skunk's abilities is 'Detonate' : If [Skunk] was fainted by a Physical Attack, the opponent receives damage

Thus exploding Skunk :)

I only preordered because I found $24 in Gamestop Gamebucks in a used case while I was working.

Our system took it too. :D Basically doubled my pay for the day.

That is my logic behind me wanting to order it as well.

It has caused me a problem though. I like the name Pearl better, but I like the special Pokemon in Diamond better...curses...this is like when I bough all of the GSC generation, lol. I only bought LeafGreen last time though.
