Hi to all American and New Yorkers :D

I'm Canadian and I'm planning a trip to New York in the coming months and I was wondering if anyone had any suggestion on where I could find game shops around or not too far from Time Square.

I'm mostly looking for cheap games or maybe even Import game shops if they're are any in that location. If possible, let me know the street corners of the emplacement, this will make it easier to locate since I don't really know my way around New York.

Thanks

Chinatown-Elizabeth St & Bayard ST. Its call Elizabeth St Mall. There is a little shop located downstairs that sells imports and US games. You could also check out the store across the street from there, but their prices are pretty high. Otherwise there is a toysrus at Times Square. There are also Best Buys and Circuit City around NY as well.

The Nintendo World Store is fairly close to Times Square (it's very close to Rock Center). It's not that big of a deal but it's fun to check out if you are there.
cheap games + new york ?

you're a good laugh

i've shipped more games to new york than anywhere else in this nation
I agree, I live here and there aren't much deals to be found (especially those TRU/CC clearance are very hard to come by).

VideoGamesNewYork, but I'm not sure how close it would be to times square.

They sell bunches of imports and rare games.

Ironically, some of the cheapest games I've seen in the city are at the Times Square Toys 'R Us.

Otherwise, you're out of luck, although there are a bajillion Gamestops around. You could visit the Nintendo World Store in the Rockefeller Center, around the southwest corner.

NYC is synominous with expensive, and the suburbs are no better either (my parents spend $1300 a month on maintainence expenses for their apartment that they own).

im staying in times square tomorrow.... im definitely going to try to check it out...

i checked out that toys r us a few weeks ago but nothing stood out

Videogamesnewyork is about 15 minutes away from Times Sqaure (this doesn't include waiting for the train). The exact location of the store is 6th st. between 2nd and 3rd ave (closer to 3rd ave). From TS, take the R, W or N train to 8th street.

The prices aren't cheap, but they have lots of imports and old games. But, the prices on import titles are pretty competitive to what you can find online. It's nice to browse around and sometimes you can find some goodies hidden in the stacks. Good luck though as all the rare games are in shelves with prices that might give you sticker shock.

Thanks for all your info :)

I went down to New York last week (it was nice trip btw :D )

I checked out pretty much everything that's listed above. I went to both shops in Chinatown. The one out located right on the streets is pretty expensive. They had a buy 2 get 1 free i think, but even with that it was too expensive in comparison to prices on the 'net. The one in the little mall had some more reasonable prices, but not a great selection. I ended up buying a Sega Ages Monaco GP PS2 sealed for 10$. Mostly so that I wouln't leave empty handed. On a side note, it's amazing how much that part of town stinks :whistle2:& It didn't helped that it was over 90ºF that day :hot:

I went to the TRU time square, Virgin megastore, best buy and the Nintendo store, but didn't find much.

I also took the time to go down to the VideoGamesNewYork store. The selection was great :D but the prices weren't :whistle2:s I ended up buying a Neo Geo PS2 stick for 70$. The price wasn't great, but at least I didn't had to pay for shipping.

I also found a nice figurine shop Tokyo Toy on the 7th st/2nd ave. Not really games, but they were a few nice game related toys.

Thanks again for all the info :D

It's pretty bad that I like in New York (not the city... about 40-60 minutes away) but yet I've been to only the Virgin megastore, TRU, and the Pokemon Store before it became Nintendo World. Next time I head to the city, I'm definitely getting you guys to tell me about places to go.
