Gamestop employee discount question
I need a part-time job...what is the employee discount at Gamestop? Can the discount be used on console purchases?

Thanks for the help guys.
15% off new games, 15% + 10% off used games if you have the discount card, and no, it cannot be used with consoles.

Alex

I think so (also on new games), which explains why a factory-sealed game at GS is more rare than a Honus Wagner card.

It depends on the individual store. The one I worked at a few years ago had abolished their employee borrowing program about six months prior to my starting.

At some stores the check-out system is still in effect on USED games. It works on the "you break it, you buy it" rule, so if an employee breaks it or looses it, they have to pay for it. Some stores don't do it at all.
The new games get opened when they have to put game cases on the wall for display so if you're getting an opened new game, it's still new. But then again I wouldn't put it past a few unscrupulous people to actually check out the new ones... All depends on if your local store is following the rules or not.
(I don't like buying display games, either. But then again I'm super picky.)

I remember getting my used 360 on 12/1/06 during this 'employee appreciation weekend'.

25% off instead of 15%. This was also right before our credit was being taxed in Florida, so I got a used 360 with a wireless controller for $209.99, tax free, and a hard drive for $53.99, tax free. Say what you want, but the system only RROD'd once, and that was when I turned it on at the exact moment I plugged in the power -- it freaked me out but I turned it off and on and it was fine.

Sorry for the double post but oh man I abused this when I knew they were getting ready to fire me... I got some pretty damn good used discs, but I would take home a brand new copy and then swap it.

I swapped a used COD2 for a pretty good used COD2 GOTY, then swapped the guts for a new one.

I hate that company so much. I was fired for sharing my EDGE card with an employee. I had to talk to someone in Miami, that had to do with loss prevention, and they had some kind of SHERLOCK system, which actually stood for something, but I wasn't told what. I had to write out a "confession", the girl on the phone told me what to write, and then I had to give the district manager $50 for "lost profits".

Part of the reason I love CAG is to screw Gamestop in any way I can as a customer.
