Well, we've been talking quite a bit about it in the Deals forum, but I thought it would be fitting to move the discussion where it's supposed to be.

I figure this thread can be where we post any questions or any other nice tidbits of information that the other few N-Gage owners can see.

Well, I ended up going and picking up the N-Gage yesterday. The system seems pretty damn cool, but it didn't come with any of the cables or discs, so I think I may take it back and save up a bit for a brand new one.

I figure by the time I go out and find all the cables I need I'll end up spending about the same for what I can get a brand new one for.
Yeah, but also if you got a model one, and the radio is important to you, then it's probably the best you're going to get. It's a tough call, personally I can't see having mine without the onboard radio/MP3 features, just because that's what I use most frequently.

The headset will runs $15 for the stereo headset, and that's the main one you need. If you just need a hands free one, the little micro-plug nokia works for the NGage. (It also works as a mono headset for games/radio/mp3 player... I pull that off at work sometimes), and those can be picked up almost anywhere for
- So, will any normal mono headset work for the N-Gage?
As long as it's a Nokia, and fits the plug, yes. I've used the one from my 3390.

- Also, I'm still trying to find out which are the best MMCs to get. What do you think would be the best size to get?
I figure I might just start off with a 128 mb one.
That's a good size to start out with. Unless you're really planning some big she-bang, that's more than enough. Good Place tobuy MMCs

- What games do you guys have for it? There seems to be some pretty promising games releasing right around now.
I know Ashen, Pocket Kingdom, Elder Scrolls Travels: Shadowkey, Call Of Duty, Requiem of Hell, Worms and Pathway to Glory are all releasing or are released this month.
I think I may pick up Pocket Kingdom or Shadowkey to mess around with until I get my DS.

Ashen is OK, I don't have it, but played one of my friends for a while. A little frustrating with "invisible" enemies, pretty cheap if you ask me. Games I say to get include: FIFA 2004 (Ok, so Thierry Henry is on the cover and I'm a huge Arsenal fan, but still a great game of footy), THPS, Puyo Puyo, and The Sims Busting Out. Sega Rally is also very, very, very good from the build that I've played, but I can't speak on behalf of the final product coming out later this/early next year.

I'd avoid tomb raider and monkey ball, they both suffer from tremendous framerate issues.

It's a matter of finding the types of games that you like that run well on the unit.

Ashen's been out for a while but it blows. Ghost Recon: Jungle Storm is the best FPS for the system.

I've been previewing Pocket Kingdom, and it's pretty fun. Not exactly sure what I think of it yet, though, since I haven't won the right to go online and there's no actual gameplay.

Pathway to Glory kicks ass. It's a tremendously detailed and innovative tactical RPG.

Now to plug my N-Gage coverage: http://ngage.gamespy.com

Do any of you guys load any of your own movies with Smartmovie? It's pretty dang easy. A lot easier than I thought it would be.

An hour and a half movie is only 83 megs, so I should be able to keep at least one movie on my MMC as well as a bunch of other programs with no problem.

getting my n-gage either this weekend or sometime in the early next week! between that, the DS, halo 2, and mario tennis, and ratchet and clank UYA... im gonna have my hands full!

Man, I'm really disappointed. I went in to one of my Gamestops and they don't even carry any used N-gage games.

The guy even told me that they dont accept any used ngage games in trade-ins! What's the deal?

I posted this in the other thread, but no one answered. Is a model 3 coming out? How is it different?

I have an N-Gage and a MMC; I just don't know how to use programs on it. Can someone point me to a good place that provides instructions on utilizing the system for something other than games? Thanks in advance, since mine has been collecting dust for awhile yet.

I believe BigDirty pointed me to this site the other day. It will give you all the info you need.

But just to know, you'll need an MMC reader for your computer, but you probably already knew that.

I've heard a lot of rumors about a third system, but I haven't read anything definitive. A GS employee said they were coming out with one, but you know you should probably take that with a grain of salt.

I wonder, though, what they would do with a third system.
I can't wait until Worms comes out for the NGAGE if it is considering that Accliam went Kablooey.
It's coming out. I have a preview version, though I haven't played it. The game is being published by THQ, and has nothing to do with Acclaim.

Hey man, I saw some of your work at gamespy. How long have you worked for them?

Do you guys play on N-Gage Arena at all? Can you explain how that works? Does it just spend a minute off your cell plan for every minute you play?

I don't know if these are really deals, or if you'll be able to find them, but I got the EB Holiday Gift Guide. It has Tomb Raider, THPS, Sonic N, and Super Monkey Ball all for $9.99 Pre-owned. Red Faction is $12.99 and Pandemonium is $7.99. Pre-Owned N-Gage (Not QD) is $79.99. Page 89.

im waiting for them to release ngage arena for the old ngage....then ill be playing...im using a leaked one right now but cant actually play

It goes off your carriers WAP plans, check with your provider as it varies greatly between carriers.

You can download Arena for the original N-Gage here - http://arena.n-gage.com/n-gage/web/en/launcher/launcher_n-gage.jsp
omg thanks....ive been watching the site like a hawk and now is when they finally release it.....
You've always been able to play Arena on the old N-Gage; you just had to access it through the games themselves.

I've been doing work for them for a year now. I'm a freelancer, so I work for a lot of outlets, as opposed to being full-time for one.
Since this is a general N-Gage thread, I gotta say Pocket Kingdom is awesome. I've been playing a beta for some special sneak preview, and it's a darn good time. It's definitely worth checking out for N-Gage owners. I wrote a lengthy preview here:
http://ngage.gamespy.com/n-gage/pocket-kingdom-own-the-world/565481p1.html
Thanks for the post. It would be cool if you linked any of your previews here, because I like reading anything new on the N-Gage.

I'm looking forward to the game, but I just don't know how long it will keep me hooked if I can't really control anything that happens on the battlefield.

You'd think not having control would make it boring, but it actually makes it a great casual game. For example, I was playing last night as I watched SmackDown, half paying attention to both things.
Have you had any experience with Elder Scrolls: Shadowkey? I'm really considering dusting off my N-Gage for that.

myke.
I actually think this may be the first new N-Gage game I buy.
Grave how do the movies look on it?
Man, I still haven't bought me a decent MMC or a reader yet to find out. Hopefully I get one in a few weeks, though.
Since Grave asked, I put up a new story with playable impressions of X-Men Legends for N-Gage. Go to http://ngage.gamespy.com/ The game is really close to the console versions, and it should be good -- though the combat's a little off so far.
Thanks a bunch, man! You seem to be the N-Gage man at Gamespy.

South Park looks really good on it. I haven't watched a live action video on mine yet, but the animated videos/clips translate pretty well to it.

Do you use the real player, or is there another app?

When I was running a web server for wrestling videos, I tried to play some ECW matches from an MMC. It wouldn't play certain ones, for reasons I can't recall.

Guyver, if I was on CAG then...120GB of WWF, WCW, ECW, TNA, ROH, Lucha Libre, and (mostly) Puro, in Real Media and WMP files. You would have been in heaven.

myke.
...may start again, only b/c I am not using my 120GB HD for anything at the moment.

Dude, I don't talk about it here much. But you have just met the biggest WCW fanboy there has ever been. I grew up watching WCW and NWA and my fanboyism just grew with age.

During my junior and senior years in high school, I would get about 20-25 friends to come over for every WCW pay-per-view. I would actually make my mom tape Nitro if I couldn't catch the encore later in the night.

I was such a WCW whore.

So yeah, if you could somehow point me to a good place to get all the good ol' WCW videos and bring me back to my fanboy era, I would be very thankful.

I posted a review of Pocket Kingdom on the GameSpy N-Gage site -- http://ngage.gamespy.com The game is awesome.

Also, is anyone interested in a Pocket Kingdom t-shirt? I got a ton of them from a PR agency, and it turns out I can't do a contest for them. If you send me shipping, I'll hook you up. They're black, and say "I
