XBL Account

The Question

CAG Veteran
I was lazy and put my credit card on xbox to get the new halo maps...very stupid of me. Going to call MS to get the card off the account but until then is there any way to stop my nephew from hiting X and buying more points every time he uses the xbox?

Aside from password locking him out of your profile, you can go into the family settings and disable buying content. When he isn't around and you want to buy something, you can go back and adjust the settings.

I think you can also log in with your info at xbox.com...view your gamer card... "Manage profile"... then "billing and contact info" .... I have never actually removed a card, but I do believe that's the way to do it.

I recently had my card removed from XBL, because I began using the prepaid cards. I wound up having to call the 18004myxbox number and play phone tag with the "higher ups" for two weeks before my card was removed. Might be simpler to cancel that particular credit card, and request a new one with a new number than go through all that red tape I had to.

It is very frustrating to go from something like say World of Warcraft to dealing with XBL when it comes to billing. For something like WoW (just using as an example because they do everything very well) you can simply log on to their website and manage your billing or cancel it altogether within a matter of seconds. Want to do the same with XBL? Good luck even finding information on how to cancel your account online... when you finally do find a one line reference on the Xbox.com site it is just a phone number to call so that you can go through the same bullshit that SkeletonBrute had to. It seems really obvious to me that this is done intentionally to make it as hard as possible to cancel your account and as much as I love my 360, things like that really turn me off.

everytime i use my CC on XBL, it makes me enter the 3 digit number on the back, it doesn't store it.

so unless your nephew has that, you should be good to go.

Fixed.

Don't take that seriously.

I'm not sure but there should be some way to block him from your account.

Well, if all else fails: unplug the internet connection when he uses the xbox. Problem solved.

Thanks for all the help, he's only 5 and he downloads stuff like demos and movies which I don't mind so I don't want to completely take him off, so I did that last night, going try doing that lock in family settings thing also going to test to see if it ask for the number on the back of the card, if all else fails then plan C...
