I figure this would be a good way of proving that some of us are literate and also a good place to look for ideas of what book to read next. GAME GUIDES DON'T COUNT ;). I'll start us off.
Not a bad idea, reserving a spot. I've been wanting to get back into reading books and have a few books lined up.
The same. I haven't read anything nonschool related in a while with the exception of the Harry Potter series so I am now reading whenever I'm not gaming. The Road is exceptional by-the-way. It is written by the same fellow that wrote No Country For Old Men.

Sounds good. Another tab to keep up with.

Wait....you mean some of you read something other than the type written on the internet? It's been SO LONG since I read an actual book aside from a game guide.

But, what the hell, I'll reserve a spot in case I decide to start reading my massive backlog of Star Trek novels or the 2-4 Harry Potter HC books I snagged from various thrift shops. I've found that I'm mainly just a COLLECTOR of books lately.

I'll go.

My only goal in 2008 is to read "I Love You, Beth Cooper" and "Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows" - I've had them sitting around for ages and my wife LOVED them so I should give it a go...

Its interesting to see that a couple of us here are reading Stephen Colbert's book. There are also a couple of titles that look interesting and I might check out.
Do comic books count? Or what about graphic NOVELS?!
I'm guessing not, but it'd be nice if it did. I've been on a serious Osamu Tezuka binge for awhile now and that will definitely continue well into this year. Plus there's all the other manga/graphic novels I read...

January:
Harry Potter and the Goblet of Fire
Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix
Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince

February:
Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows
Do comic books count? Or what about graphic NOVELS?!
Graphic novels can. Just put (GN) next to the title so people know it is a graphic novel...
Graphic novels can. Just put (GN) next to the title so people know it is a graphic novel...
Nice... guess I'm in then :p I also have some actual novels-with-no-graphics I need to get through as well. Reserving this as my spot.

Fullmetal Alchemist vol. 15, Hiromu Arakawa (manga)

Okay, just books I started and finished in 2008, then.

Persepolis - Marjane Satrapi
The Plague - Camus

Currently finishing up Emma, but I started that in 2007.

Two weeks ago I could say pretty confidently that I would absolutely dominate this thread... and then I got fired from my manager position at Borders on Christmas Eve. Damnation!

I love to read at least a book a week. i honestly wouldn't have caught myself reading AT ALL if one of my friends hadn't shown me Fight Club, i own all of Palahniuk's books and it all snowballed from there.
how did that happen?
The DM was visiting with one of her bosses on the Friday before Christmas. On that particular day, I thought I was working a late shift; turns out I was on a mid shift. Sales floor was slightly undermanned, and visit wasn't as impressive as it could've been. You know what happened next...

Your whole list is excellent, but this is one of my faves. Definitely check out his book Dermaphoria, as well.

If you haven't already, I strongly suggest reading Will Christopher Baer's Phineas Poe novels (Penny Dreadful, Kiss Me Judas, and Hell's Half Acre) as well as Warren Ellis' Crooked Little Vein.

Very Palahniuk-esque.

Finished (the other day):
The Robots of Dawn - Isaac Asimov

Reading:
Random Acts of Senseless Violence - Jack Womack
Infinite Dreams - Joe Haldeman

Our county library had a book sale in November, so I have four boxes of books to read, including one crammed full of old pulpy SF paperbacks. In addition to the backlog from previous booksales.
Here's last two year's lists
http://www.kaboodle.com/dtcarson/books-ive-read-2006.html
http://www.kaboodle.com/dtcarson/books-ive-read--2007.html
I might have missed a few, and I didn't log things like game guides or graphic novels.
After I finish this I'm gonna read Colbert's book.
Very popular (and funny) book...

IDK if it will end up holding my attention the entire way through...

Library booksales are great. Mine sometimes has really cool old PC games too. I got Starcraft and Broodwars expansion for $2 w/cases and manuals. I love the booksale but it sort of has started to suck because used book sellers are storming in and grabbing stacks of the most desirable books (Harry Potter hardcovers for $2, etc) before anyone else gets a chance. :bomb:
