We seem to be tracking nearly everything that CAGs spend money on, but I'm not aware of a live music thread...so here we go!

What was the last concert or show you attended?

From the biggest, baddest, most bloated arena-rock spectacle to that intimate, impromptu, not-the-least-bit pretentious acoustic cafe gig you attended...this is the place to document all of your musical adventures.

Post anything you feel like sharing.

My last show?
The Dresden Dolls with Meow Meow and The Luminescent Orchestrii
Orpheum Theatre, Boston
Saturday, December 29

Killer show, great energy...The Dolls live is always an adventure.

The show-closer was a rowdy troubador-punk cover of "Sweet Dreams" with all members of both opening bands on stage. Awesome.

Cracktoberfest

Which was Leftover Crack (third time in a year), Toxic Narcotic, I Object, and Millions of Dead Cops.

Was all the way back in October though, so I've been in a bit of a lull.

The Social (Orlando, Florida)
September 28, 2006

I never heard of them before but I got free tickets so I figured what the hell. The Social is a very weird venue. Think a tiny bar that fits about 150-200 but the building is longer more than it is wide. So the band, dance floor and bar is less than a stone throw away. It was packed wall to wall with people and you could barely walk through the place. We showed up early so we sat at the bar dead center in the middle.

Particle is a fairly weird band too. They are a instrumental electronica/jam band and the crowd was on fire. They were also very fucked up along with the keyboardist. They played for 2 hours and said that they would be back to play even more after a break but I left since it was almost 2 in the morning and we had a almost 2 hour ride ahead of us. Late dinner at Denny's and than bed.

Fantastic performance and if they ever come back, I'll go see them.

This isn't from my show (can't find shit from my show or my photos) but it's a good representation.

I got tickets to see B.B King on 5/5/2008 so my lack of concerts will be ending soon :bouncy:

Flogging Molly and the Dropkick Murphys at festival pier in philadelphia in august 07. thats like the 10th time ive seen FM(they dont come to philly much) and the third for DKM, who were on letterman friday night.

I missed Streetlight Manifesto because I was out on a business trip. Still kicking myself over that one. I hope they come out here though...I really do. I would go to three shows of theirs in a row if they did each of their albums back to back to back.

Anyway, the last one's were:

Shakira (guess why...but it actually wasn't bad. She's a darn good performer.)
Tego Calderon

been awhile for me also, but if I remember correctly it was...

Living legends at the catalyst?

it may have been Aesop Rock...

Actually...no...It was Zion I and Grouch @ the catalyst in Santa Cruz
Del tha Funkee Homosapien, in November.

It would have been Dan Deacon last Friday if circumstances hadn't changed.
I kick myself every day for missing that Del show

The New Pornographers in Washington DC back in October. I've seen them live 3 times now and the band gets bigger each time. NPR has a podcast of the show on their website under 'all sounds considered' if you're interested.

I'm going to the Langerado festival in early March in south Florida with the Beastie Boys headlining Friday night and REM Saturday night. I especially excited about REM since they'll probably debut all of their upcoming album material at the show.

OMG I hate you. Soooo jealous.

And for me .. my last concert was Australian Pink Floyd show in November at the Hershey Theater in Hershey, PA. If you guys are even the slightest Pink Floyd fan and APF plays near you, go see them! You will not be disappointed. They basically copy Pink Floyd verbatim visually and audio wise from the Pulse concert. They even have the big circular screen with all the same videos and the giant inflatable pig.

It's been a while since my last one - Anti-Flag, Big D & The Kids Table, and Set Your Goals at Chain Reaction in Anaheim.

The next one will probably be Bamboozle Left. The Movielife "reunion" is something I'm not going to miss.

Was Del any good because I know a couple people who saw him, and they said it was really weak.

I last saw:

Aesop Rock, Black Moth Super Rainbow, and Blockhead. All in one spot... I actually missed blockhead due to being late which really sucked. Aesop and BMSR were the shit though.

I saw GZA in August. Guess you have to be a fan. I remember seeing Busta Rhymes live and I only knew about 3 of his songs but he pretty much stole the show from everyone else on the same tour.

H.I.M. with Bleeding Through at HOB in Myrtle Beach. Shows at the HOB SUCK!!! No moshing/stage diving?? WTF..........

I love the social in Orlando. It was a great place to watch bands perform in a very intimate setting. I saw many bands play there. I do miss going their when I lived in Orlando.

I haven't been to a concert in around 3 years. My last show was either Beck or The White Stripes. Both were excellent and a few days apart so I don't remember who I saw last.

My last show was Ted Leo & the Pharmacists at Lupo's in Providence, R.I. My next show should be on Feb. 1, when I'm hoping to see Neko Case.

I have never been to a concert. I would rather sit home and listen to the band play, than go to a show and listen to the jackasses around me scream.

Seether/Collective Soul/Three Days Grace/Breaking Benjamin/Live
Tweeter Center in Camden, NJ
September 23, 2007

Pretty awesome show. We missed Seether, but saw everyone else. Breaking Benjamin had amazing energy and Live kicked all sorts of ass.

We missed the opening act (forgot their name) and the beer was damn expensive.
when isn't the beer expensive?

Does Isis sound familiar?

I only ask because my friend saw Tool last fall, too, and Isis opened. He missed them as well, haha.

Just bought tickets to go see henry rollins Provoked at Lupos In Providence. Really excited for that. Also close to buying tickets to see Lenny Kravitz and Nada Surf in boston

I want to go to that Rollins "talk" but I'll be in Boston that night seeing St. Vincent.

He came by here a few years ago so I can wait another year or two.

The show was plagued with a bunch of shitty opening bands and the worst audience I've ever been in.
I wasn't in the greatest of moods by the time Del got on. He was easily the best act, but wasn't great. Could've used a lot more Deltron.

BMSR would be cool to see live. No comment on Aesop Rock and Blockhead, as I've never heard their stuff.

I actually think I was mistaken. The last show I went to was a gig my friends played. Their band is called Sea Fields of Elephants. None of you have heard of them, I'm 100% sure.
Will do. I've heard of Aesop Rock, but I never bothered to check them out.
Aesop is the shit. He's one of the more unique rappers out there I would say. He's on my top 5 of all time. Blockhead does beats for hip-hop (one of Aesops actually) and his own solo stuff (think rjd2 with more hip-hop roots).

Last concert for me was the Zune free concert in Chicago in August with Mos Def, Talib Kweli and Little Brother. Missed a free Eve and Shawnna show in Dec.
I have never been to a concert. I would rather sit home and listen to the band play, than go to a show and listen to the jackasses around me scream.
I'm pretty much the same way. The only other concert I've ever been to was free/outdoors, so I don't really count it. The SG are probably the only act I'd ever pay to see live.

Most recent was Mustard Plug on December 28th.

And I will, damn.
Still need to check out The Death Set too...

Damn right you do. Try Rad Warehouses Bad Neighborhoods. There's a remix by Dan Deacon on there.

It's been a long time for me. I'd say the last show I went to was They Might Be Giants when they played at a nearby college, must be 3-4 years ago now.
