my friend pointed out something that I wish i had thought of myself before ordering. to him, that extra 15 dollars we would pay for the game over steam is worth it over the lifetime of the game just not to have to put a cd in your drive to play.
Actually, for the same price as the Col. Set from go-gamer, you could get the "silver" steam package, which includes all the games from the collector set, plus all of Valve's back catalog. You do lose out on the t-shirt and art book though, but you gain a couple more games and never have to worry about having the dvd in the drive.

Well, I remember reading somewhere that if you do some option with Steam where you back up files to CD-R, you no longer will have to have the DVD in the drive to play.
Honestly, it's worth the extra $10 to have a hard copy of the game on one DVD along with a T-shirt. The only thing you miss out on from the Silver / Gold download versions are Day of Defeat: Source and Opposing Force / Blue Shift : Source, which frankly were not great games to begin with...(except for Day of Defeat, which is awesome, but you can still play it using the originaly Half-Life engine).
All in all, the Go Gamer deal is a pretty good one.
