For those who are too cheap to splurg on something without trying it out, there is a Castlvania: Harmony of Despair demo out on the UK PSN one character (Alucard) and one map to play through.

The UK PSN also some some other exclusive demos (and DLC) as well for those interested.

Halo, while looking around the JPN PSN I saw that Strikers 1945 II is a PS1 classic if you're interested.

As of this week, there are 682 titles available for download in the Game Archives section of the JPN PSN Store. That includes PSOne Classics and PC Engine games. I thought it included NEO GEO titles, but in a quick skim through, I did not see them listed there. Odd.

At any rate, before defending the US' scant offerings, keep that in mind. 682 games, just b/w PSOne and PC Engine.

682.

400 of which are the Simple X000 series title games.

Sorry, I had too. ;)

That's insane though, its what I was discussing with anotherpoorgamer above, with the lack of some titles not being available in the other stores, is just stupid for them not to release the flood gates and let them out for purchase.

Even the UK is finally getting PS1 import classics now, they just need to open up some of these stores so people can see what wealth they are missing out on.

they want too much money for some of them though lke the neo geo games. even with a plus discount the price is too high for them. they should have went the collection route 20 bucks for the whole kof series or samura showdown series would be great but to want 7 bucks for one game ( even with online mp ) is asking too much.

The Drop for this week:

PlayStation Network

Okabu (Demo Available) – Okabu follows the adventures of Kumulo, Nimbe and the cloud-flying heroes as they battle to save their people and their world from the industrialized threat of the Doza. The world of Okabu is a hyper-tactile toybox filled with a huge number of puzzles, playthings, adorable creatures and devious machines –all spread across an epic co-op campaign

Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken (Demo Available) – Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken builds upon the critically-acclaimed browser-based game Rocketbirds: Revolution!, with new characters, missions, puzzles, exclusive music videos, retro cut scenes, stereoscopic 3D support and more.

Step into the clawed feet of badass rebel Hardboiled Chicken, the original Coq of War who sets out on a mission to assassinate the totalitarian penguin leader and take down the evil regime that has taken over Albatropolis. Destroy enemies with a slew of weapons and bear the yolk of Hardboiled’s past as his missions unlock the secrets to his mysterious past and illuminate the truth behind the penguin government. Master fowl play in the co-op campaign as a pair of Budgie commandos on a mission to save the general’s daughter. Many lives will be destroyed, countless penguins will die!

Payday – The Heist (Demo available) – Payday: The Heist is a high-intensity squad-based first person shooter where players take on the role of a hardened career criminal pulling death-defying heists in the never-ending pursuit of the next “big score.” Quick wit, an equally fast trigger finger and above all teamwork are the rules of engagement as players will embark on a spectacular crime spree of six heart stopping heists, including blasting their way through a downtown bank vault robbery, managing hostages in an armored car hijacking and even a midnight infiltration of a top-secret, high-security facility.

Dungeon Defenders – Developed by Trendy Entertainment, Dungeon Defenders throws action-RPG and tower defense gameplay into the proverbial blender to create a seamless mix of leveling, looting and high-action territorial combat for casual and core players alike. Dungeon Defenders features a lovingly-rendered watercolor art style and allows up to 4 players, online or locally, to take one of four distinct classes into fierce battle against ever-increasing waves of baddies and bosses across 15 arenas and multiple modes.

Real Steel (Demo Available) – In Real Steel, the player assumes the role of an owner of a fighting robot, and must battle against many different rival robots in an attempt to become champion of several levels of fighting tiers. Players earn in-game money by winning matches and, using this money, must periodically improve their robot, making it stronger and more fit to compete in the higher level match tiers. The vast amount of customizable parts and selectable equipment makes for over 100 million possibilities of custom robots!

Beat Hazard Ultra (Demo Available) – Welcome to a new experience in gameplay mechanics: Beat Hazard Ultra – Gameplay Powered by YOUR Music! Experience your music collection like never before with this intense music driven arcade shooter. Each of your songs will have its own unique ebb and flow based on the music. Power up your spaceship and watch as the music boosts your firepower. Unleash hell on the enemy ships when you max out with weapon pickups! Beat Hazard seamlessly mixes the love of gaming and music. Together they become greater than the sum of their parts.

Dead Space – Gamers step into a third-person sci-fi survival horror experience that promises to deliver the ultimate in psychological thrills and gruesome action. Set in the cold blackness of deep space, the atmosphere is soaked with a feeling of tension, dread and sheer terror. In Dead Space, players step into the role of engineer Isaac Clarke – an ordinary man on a seemingly routine mission to fix the communications systems aboard a deep space mining ship. It is not long before Isaac awakes to a living nightmare when he learns that the ship’s crew has been ravaged by a vicious alien infestation. He must fight through the dead silence and darkness of deep space to stay alive.

Ridge Racer 7: 3D Version – The PlayStation 3 driving experience Ridge Racer 7 is reborn as the arcade Ridge Racer 7 3D Version. The arcade attraction makes use of a special television that uses filters to make the images burst out at players once players don special 3D glasses to play the game. Now you can experience the amazing speed and on-the-edge control of Ridge Racer in a whole new dimension!

Technologically, the game makes use of a technique called Xpol. Developed in conjunction with NHK Technical Service, this technology promises 3D visuals without player fatigue. The technology works at 1080p and 60 frames per second.

Sam & Max: Beyond Time and Space – Sam & Max are on the job again in Season Two of their infamous adventure series! This downloadable package features five Sam & Max episodes chock full of adventure, crime-fighting, and chaos. The season starts with a giant battle robot attack and never lets up, taking our valiant crime-fighters on a gut-wrenching mission from the North Pole to Easter Island, from outer space to Hell and back.

Special features! Experience hours of special features and behind-the-scenes goodies that rival any TV series boxed set on the market today. Hear commentary from the team who made the games. Peek behind the scenes at the game design process through concept art and designer notes. And if you’re a savvy viewer, you may even uncover some surprises…

About Sam & Max. I got the first episode of Devil's Playhouse for free a long while back when it was up for free for a few hours. Since then, the PSN won't let me even look at the season pack for Devil's Playhouse. I just get a message saying 'this isn't available for your account'. Anyone else know of a fix for this?

My HDD is filling up much more quickly than I ever thought it would. 320gb seemed huge when I put it in, I think I'm at around 95gb remaining at the moment. Not much I'm down to delete either, I don't hang onto preview videos and the like. AssCreed 2, Infamous, and Red Faction Guerilla are huge space-users but I'm not done with any of them yet so they're sticking around. I might have to check out my game install data but I don't think there's much there either.

As many of you know, black ops 2 is plaid with bugs, lag etc which many people have been suffering including me.

I have a 120gb and I am at 20gb... I would hate to get a new HDD and redownload all my saves and whtnot -_-

but yeah, my HDD is getting stuffed. I had to delete some games last night which I hate doing. PS+ isn't helping either with all this free stuff.

That's the thing, I can see the bundle and even click on it. It just won't let me look at it.

Turns out it's all cool anyway. I didn't want to have to spend a crap load on each episode individually, but it's just as expensive if I had just bought the bundle. And it looks like I can still buy the bundle from the TT site, so no big.

This is probably a stupid question, but are you allowed to transfer videos you bought on PSN to an external hard drive or memory card? I'm down to 14 gigs on my PS3 and could easily free another 20 or so from videos online.

Speaking of videos, the Video portion of the PSN store mentions a free video rental on Friday based on the movie with the most votes on the "Sony Entertainment Network" face book page. Choices are Scary Movie 4 and Lesbian Vampire Killers.

The free ones that were technically "paid" that I got I was able too, it encrypts them and puts them on whatever you back them up (in my case a 8GB flash drive) and I could restore them whenever I wanted. Not sure if you can use a USB HDD, but I guess it's possible.

Sure is. There is that psychological barrier that you are paying $85 for a game. Sure you get the included DLC free, but still.........

The old format made you think "OK, I am paying $60 for this game" and then later "$10 for a DLC" or whatever. But this puts it all in your face right away and makes you feel like you are paying $85 instead of $60 for the game itself.

Let's face it. This is a "Hot Ticket Item" and it will sell well, but......
This is just the company's way of "pushing the envelope" to see how much they can get out of the customer on (or before) day 1. Grant it, it is also prefunding the DLC and other content, but does that mean that if they do not get the sales for it that they wanted for packs like this on this or any other game, they are going to be putting in less effort to develop it? And there is the argument that "No, because they already have it completed and ready to go." Well if they have it done why did they not include it in the actual game? And if they did, would they charge $85 for it?

There weren't any map packs for Uncharted 2, just one pack that had Siege mode with two maps included and another that had Drake's Fortune skins and two maps from that game that were $2.99 each.

Since the embargo's up, I can say that Rocketbirds is a very good game. It's a side-scrolling shooter kind of like Shank if that were more about the guns than melee. The only downside to it is that it's short at about three to four hours to beat the single-player campaign and there's a remixed co-op campaign for two local players that has 2/3rds the chapters that the single-player campaign has. It would be an easier recommendation for the PS+ launch price ($9.59) than the full $12 unless you really like the demo.
