It's kind of sad that my two most anticipated PC games for years on end were SWTOR and Diablo 3 and I don't really care for either.

I felt the same way. I was excited for SWTOR and D3 and felt underwhelmed by both. First off SWTOR had major problems on my system and was poorly coded (I know because it's one of those games that just maxes out my core i5 3.0 ghz processor on low settings). So I quit that under a month.

D3 was okay at best but the endgame is getting boring. I mean the only reason I am still considering playing it is to make a few dollars on the RMAH. I know my chances are slim and well I don't think it's even worth it to bother. I am better off using my PC for other things.

seriously i cannot understand people thinking diablo 3 was going to be this awesome game. i've said it already but it never looked like it was going to be good.

unless you were going off of an idea in your head of how good diablo 3 COULD have been and not looking at actual gameplay/interviews/early reviews etc...

on one hand it feels great to see all these people regretting it since i get a big feeling of i told you so and on the other i feel sad that diablo 3 is a shitty game.

I thought it was gonna be good because I played the PVP arenas at Blizzcon and it was fun as hell. Blizz dropped the ball by not having those at launch.

So, I'm moving into Act 2 of Inferno and I'm wondering what are the recommended stats I should be shooting for. I'm a barb with 5k (buffed) armor, 400-450 all resists, 35k health, and about 42k dps buffed.

I didn't expect these cheap champion packs to suck all the fun out of the game and the AH to make finding gear almost pointless, and the fact that 90% of the gear you do find is fucking garbage. Torchlight 2 soon plz.

D3 was fun for me up until Inferno. Now I can either spend my time getting one-shotted by elite mobs and hoping I'll get a good drop, or farm a lower difficulty for like 40 mil worth of gold just to buy one or two decent items.

That's a lot of DPS but you will probably find it pretty tough to survive with that armor. Try and get your armor to 9-10k, resists to 600, and hp to 50k. That is, if your goal is not die constantly.

most of my friends who were finding trouble in inferno 1st few times ended up using a shield and respec'ing. you dont need to spend 40 million in the AH to get a few decent items...it really all starts with a decent wpn and a lot of perserverance.

I would say $10 tops for that bow, then again sometimes people are pretty dumb with their money so It has a good chance of selling.

Similar bows go for 1mil on the GAH

Sold it for $17 along with an amulet for $10 I found on same run - bah, that makes me want to not stop farming ;). I've only been doing one 45 min run a night, which is enough for me.

Have 11mil gold and waiting for a good weapon upgrade to show up. right now have a 977dps 1 hand with 1.2 atk, 170 int and 100 vit.

what do you think is a good Crit chance % cap before swapping out SS? Currently I can get it up to about 32% w/ +148% Crit damage or 25% w/ +205% crit damage (gloves/quiver/ammy swap). Both seem find for Act 2 farming atm.

You want to be 10:1, CD:CC. Can't stress the importance of CD as it is a huge DPS boost over CC. When I quit I was 37.5 and 310% CD; things would explode for 100k crits without wrath.

Thanks for the tip. Just curious though, how do I get my armor to 9-10k? With Nerves of Steel (forgot the name, but it's 100% vit = armor) I have about 6200 armor. Any other way to get it up aside from buying/finding (haha) high-end armor?

There's another passive that increases your armor by 25% which helps a lot. Also, if you run solo, echantress has a passive that boosts your armor. War cry is pretty much a passive and it boosts your armor as well.

Other than that just try and find +armor on a few pieces. My shield has like 1400 and was pretty cheap.

Currently, I'm running a 2h (was doing DW until it required some pretty damn good gear). With War Cry, I'm using Impunity to boost my resists. Also, I just bought a new helm and my armor is now about 6200 buffed.

If I do go sword & board, what should I look for in a 1h weapon? And stats on the shield? Or should I just stick with the 2h?

On the weapon, Act 2 just look for high dps and good strength and vitality. For the shield high block chance is huge. A high armor rating and all resistance is a great bonus on a shield too.

tired of waiting to get a weapon upgrade with my 11 mil tonight. Bought a weapon for 1, flipped it quick for 2.....now im down to 3 mil after buying upgrades all over. Went from 48K dmg buffed to 62K(with an orb w/ 10% shock orb dmg, so i guess more like 68K when using that), and went for movement speed items so now at 24% bonus to that.....working out pretty well in Act 3 so far. Went down from 300% MF after NV to 160, but i can live with that.

and in my first run I found an interesting lvl 63 2-hand. 900 dmg with 120 str/100 int. Interesting part is the lvl requirement -10. Looked on AH and highest 2 hand for a lvl 50 was 300.
Also found a helm with 215 Int and 80 AR with a little vit, so not too shabby.

I thought I had a great find with a -lvl req wep but in one of the filter menus choose -lvl req 10 and you'll see if there are truly any weps similar.

Also, I uninstalled this game 4 days ago. Sooo much free time. Though I do want to know what my auctions are worth. I sold a 200intel ammy for 80-100k

2H is awful right now because you give up too many stats for no DPS gain. You're better off going back to DW with a double tornado build (extremely cheap; not sure how you figure it requires good gear) or sword n board. For the latter, you want any main stats if you can find them for cheap but more importantly an open socket (best emerald you can afford goes in it). After that, CD and 800+ DPS (base damage you want close to 400) but that will likely be expensive unless you find a deal.

For shield, high block (block % for above 20 is nice but not needed) and as close to 10% crit as possible. Main stats or life % if you can find it for cheap will help boost you as well and don't bother with AR on it because those are wildly overpriced.

Don't focus on armor too much: you don't need a crazy amount anymore as most barbs survive with 6k and 400 AR unbuffed (warcry) now. You can even drop warcry for overpower if you get around 500 LoH, as it will help you deal with molten, plague, and lightning affixes. This is all assuming you can hit 30k DPS.

Yeah, the whole reason I went with 2h was because finding a high dps 1h (600+) was really expensive. That same day, I found a good (I think) 1078 dps 2h axe on the AH for somewhat cheap.

I'll try DW again and see if I can get better weapons. Thanks for the tips.

Been trying to figure out the RMAH, but haven't sold anything.

What kind of stuff sells? Does it have to be high DPS level 60 weapons?

Plenty of stuff sells, just has to be priced right. If you search on similar stats and everything is $1.25, don't bother.

I've sold pretty much any item class at least once.

and BAH, didn't know there was a Movement speed cap - i liked my 24% so much i bought Inna's pants for like 2.5 mil....and it only bumped me up 1%. Well, that was a loss.

I finally broke down and spent some gold last night. Spent about 1.8 mil. I think overall I increased my crit chance by like 12% or so. And my armor and resist all are up a bit. I did a small upgrade for like 80K by getting new pants. I found a pair that kept my Dex the same, but gave me more resist all and armor.

So far it's working out better. I still have trouble with super fast mobs who have crazy attributes, but I can at least kill them in a few tries. The Spider Queen was giving me trouble before because she could one-shot me if my Smoke Screen was down. Last night I dont think she even made me pop a health pot.

FYI, Blizz finally detailed how MF works and is it ever a doozy. I already knew that items were created upon drop and ID'ing them was just a useless step, but what I didn't know was MF gear increased the likeliness it will have more affixes. Suddenly it all makes sense why I would farm for hours with no MF and while I got tons of 63 rares, they were all trash. This game is fucking garbage.

Finding more and better magic items is critical to overcoming challenges and defeating enemies in Diablo III, particularly on higher difficulties. Magic find is a unique item property that can help you drastically improve your haul. It is tracked in the Inventory menu (Inventory > Details > Adventure).

But what does that really mean?

Magic find affects the quality of items you acquire from killing enemies (but not treasure chests, vases, weapon racks, or other environmental objects). It doesn’t give you a chance to get more items on a given kill – instead, it increases the chance that an item you find will be magical, and more potent than it would be otherwise.

When a monster drops an item, Diablo III randomly determines the item’s quality from a chart that includes item quality and the number of affixes present. The game randomly "rolls" on each property in the chart to determine which affixes your item will get. Your magic find score is applied as a bonus to these rolls.

For example, if a monster has a 4% chance to drop a 6-affix rare item and you have +50% magic find, it now has a 6% chance to drop that item.

Item quality is checked in the following order:

  • Legendary
  • 6-affix rare
  • 5-affix rare
  • 4-affix rare
  • 2-affix rare
  • 1-affix rare
  • magic item

Using the above example, when your roll ‘misses’ a higher-level item quality, the item generator proceeds to the next lowest item quality in the chain (in this case, checking to see if you got a 6-affix rare, then checking for a 5-affix rare, and so on). Your magic find bonus applies to each roll. If the same monster has a 10% chance to drop a 5-affix rare item and you have 50% magic find, you now have a 15% chance to get a 5-affix rare item.

In a group, all players' magic find bonuses are averaged. So, if you’re in a four person group where two players each have +20% magic find and the other two players have none, all four players will effectively have +10% to magic find.

Yea, i always thought MF increased the chances of getting rares/legs over blues, but had no influence on the quality of the drop.

Kinda figured that's how it worked. When running Act One with 295% MF I'd find some really decent shit, yet running Act Three with just the NV stacks wouldn't really yield too much. More ilvl 63 items, but the quality was pretty crappy.

Still just using D3 as an auction simulator. Made $35 yesterday.
