imo, its missing a decent drop rate of set items. its also missing a variety of sets. I realized this after I played Sacred Gold (after Diablo 3). I played it for 20 hours and alraedy found 4 pieces of a Bahamut set. My character became pretty damn strong. Also, Sacred had a variety of different Stats that you could choose to unlock. After unlocking unique stats, you could upgrade each of them point by point to truly customize your character. Even with all this, the game continued to be a challenge because of hoards of enemies with cc. Also enemies respawn in areas after a while.

In D3, if you are lucky and find a set piece, theres a small chance that ur gonna FIND the rest of that set. Also it isnt necessary that that set is gonna even be for your class. Its nice to be able to find various tiers of sets as you progress. It gives the gear a bit of character and leaves you with a feeling of accomplishment when you collect them all. It also helps push you to continue murdering hoards of enemies with the hopes of finding the remaning pieces. Another thing was that the merchants actually sold decent items.

TLDR:
In D3, the drop rate for good upgrades is too low. A variety of legendary/set items is lacking. If you want to collect a whole set, you need the auction house. Merchants suck, gear looks lame. very limited gem socketing system. limited character customization as far as stat points are concerned. All those things combined + more small things that I probably missed = the "it" that is missing from D3
PS: Sacred Gold is fun

Wish they would give me some more character slots. :( I want to create a hardcore character or two but the rest of my slots are fills with the m and f version of each class.

Then of course after you find a Legendary there's even more slim a chance that it's actually good. Honestly, i predict D3 will one day be patched to true greatness. I really believe that, but for now it's really lacking for me. (lvl 15 paragon 136k damage DH)

That run was a lot of fun.. and not just because I found a legendary actually worth a damn. We pwned face even though the run was sorta long :P

I'm convinced that the AH is the source of problems for this game, let me explain. The real problem, one that everyone complains about, is the lack of good drops, and I agree. However, I think that's intentional on the part of Blizzard, because if we got actually good drops, what would be the point of the AH? If you consistently got good stuff just from playing the game, there would be little to no need for the AH. Why pay to gain a little DPS, when you're likely to find something for free that will do the same thing? Take away the auction house and they'd HAVE to increase the good drops, or there would be no way to get them at a decent rate.

personally i think the "it" is too much expectation...and a lot of the negative criticism eventually starts to get to you.

solo grinding is boring, esp when you're not getting any upgrades for an already geared character or the excitement of finding a legendary...but I'm still enjoying coop play w/my buds. dying to champ pack phase beasts I'd like to minimize but that'll come w/gear. It's been a rather dry day of act 3 farming w/a capped MF DH...but I did upgrade my own MF ring & found dat sky splitter the other night, this one at least has 100+ dex and vit on it and some CD. I was rolling w/an int/vit ring w/18% earlier.

i'd have to agree.

I use the AH to sell stuff mainly and see what's out there. Outside of a legacy helm of command pre patch, I haven't made any high end purchases, just doesn't sit right at least for me. The HoC was even at cost (minus whatever the gp value of the mats might have gone for at the time).

I'll likely buy a pair of firewalkers if I can't find one someday soon, otherwise i'm trying to stay away from buying my kit purely out of how I want to go about reaching godly status.

I thought that was WoW. I didn't realize that was D3. No I am not 'trolling' or whatever I guess the color palette is still part of the problem for me.

I think what bothers me about d3 are the open areas. I like the ability to explore dungeons and open/close doors. There is a certain anticipation instead of "oh wow, there are 50 guys attacking me that just crawled out of a tree."

I am a slow and methodical game player. I like to click on every barrel, stump, and chest I see.

It almost feels too much like my characters have a gun. I tried demon hunter and witchdoctor and they are ranged attacks. Maybe if I switch to barb (I wish they sill had warrior or paladin) it will feel more like diabo.

from a lot of posts ppl who have tried and played Torchlight 2 say the color palette is way too much to be taken even remotely seriously.

I still free all the captives in the Road to Alcarnus, I don't break every barrel anymore but I do break all the breakables in Act 3 crater and tower. I do agree, I miss the anticipate of what might be behind a closed door but I'm still having fun. Now it's more the anticipation of getting a good drop.

Barb and Monk are certainly a different feel, you could even go as far as melee wizard w/Spectral Blades if you want less of a kiting or ranged character. (and quite enjoyable, you have more of a feeling and connection when you mash something. Barb more so due to the higher physics)

...hopefully the expansion will introduce more than the predicted 2 additional classes.

personally i think the "it" is too much expectation...and a lot of the negative criticism eventually starts to get to you.

The biggest issue was they kept sending the message of "we don't want you farming in our gear farm game". They designed the game in a way they thought would work and when we started finding efficient ways to farm, they nerfed it all. Why? To protect their baby, the RMAH. So in an effort to balance the flow of items and retain market value for their cash-making scheme, they drove everyone off. Blizzard deserves what they got and it's why I refused to participate in the RMAH.

You can stop right there, I agree :applause:

Once they shifted away the focus from what YOU (as the gamer) can find (or barter for) to what you can buy... it ruined everything.

I got the game AFTER my friends... yet I was giving them tips on how to play. Seriously, pretty powerful low-end gear is CHEAP... there's no reason to use the low-level trash you find for drops when you can INSTANTLY get gear on the AH.

One funny thing, I called this right: all the good gear is once again back on the gold AH, because there's a cap on how much money you can sell an item for... but NO cap on gold.

So the only thing the RMAH is really used for now is to buy/sell gold.

Yeah, there is other stuff still there... but for the most part it's not going to be as good as the gold AH (especially at the top end).

it's hard to discern what the value of certain items are using the AH (i don't ever find trifeca gear until recently), a lot of the prices seem inflated as the demand for higher end gear becomes higher. I'd rather sell an item for near what it's worth vs have it sit on the block for several days as i continue to lower the b/o price.

anyone give a good estimate on these gloves?

Gloves
299 Armor
+23 Str
+48 Dex
+73 Vit
Attack Speed Increased 9%
Critical Hit Damage Increased by 31%
Critical Hit Chance Increased by 7.0%
Increased Gold and Health Pickup by 7 Yards.

thanks in advance.

Edit: looking like 5-10 million range.

Pretty sure I've vendored similar gloves. AH is so fickle... Sometimes shit sells for millions and other times I don't get a single bid, even without a min.

Also looking at changes they just want to make inferno even more easier. Considering I beat Diablo on Inferno post patch I think that is a bit absurd to make the game even easier.

yeah.

i think ill just make the most out of them if they don't sell after a day in the AH. while the dex is much lower than my current set, my current set only has crit chance.

Just bring back SOJs and selling them and the Dclone while you're at it. Make D3 into D2 finally.

1.05 preview/dev blog
http://us.battle.net...amage-9_14_2012

I gotta say, I like the previews and I defintely like the idea of having 2-3 sentries for the DH. Kinda reminds me of Heimer from LoL, except they're adding turrets vs taking them away.

It's almost be worth it to start over from scratch and re-explore the game and how it's evolved. I hope they give the DH pets hps so they aren't just invincible summons. DH is starting to look like a hunter/shaman hybrid from WoW.

Leap Attack buff is crazy.

Here's an interesting link I found when trying to figure out how some game blogs knew who was the first Paragon level 100. Has some interesting stats and you could take a peek at lead ranked players gear.

http://www.diablopro....stat_heroscore

That link above is the Hero Score rankings and it's pretty much your character's overall survivability. It takes into account your effective health (armor rating, resist, vitality --I think), dodge/block, DPS, etc. I guess it's pretty much your character's power level

Mine was about 6200, for reference the top twenty are above 17000. Nothing else really interesting in I found in my rankings except that my DH's effective health is nearing the top 1000s in world ranking. I was nosey and looked up some of the CAGs I run with and we are all around the same Hero Score.

I decided to give the game another shot, and I created a barbarian. I never used a barb on D2, but I really like it on D3. Closest thing to a warrior I guess. The game is more fun when you get in a crowd.

from what they've hinted in the forums blizz is working on pvp, but im guessing they're trying to work out a balance and make it exciting, not just uber geared ppl vs everyone else w/no ladder or rewards, stats etc. if your dps is 200k unbuffed, you'd likely win every game w/hungering arrows and smoke screen w/out much aiming at all. I'd assume they'd figure out a method to scale down dmg in pvp as well as come up with more than just straight TDM, objective pvp would be smart and fun.
