This week's podcast made me download the latest episode of 1up yours and listen to the denis dyack segment. I listen to probably a dozen podcasts, CAG being the only gaming one so it was interesting to hear for comparison purposes.

I do want to mention that the 1up podcast doesn't hold a candle to the cagcast, keep it up guys, very entertaining. To show that I am fair, the Amy Winehouse comment that introduced the Dyack segment was gold. I know that I don't have to bash another podcast to bring you guys up, but in the end IMO you guys have them stitched up.

Dyack is what something out of this world; he is one of those guys, which I know most of you knew in high school. He reads a lot and kind of smart but is a total social retard and cannot reconcile what he reads with reality. He went in to all this altruistic BS about he is all about his employees and his responsibility to them. He also mentions Peter Drucker and socially responsible business practices. I can't think of anything more irresponsible towards his employees than going on a public rant-storm on the eve SK's release of Too Human. Which is a IP that I can only assume has eaten up much of SK's resources and is something that will most likely make them or break them, or if not break them, delegate them into an even greater level of insignificance in the industry. I think in the end the core audience for this game (aka the hardcore gamer) will reserve judgment until more reviews are posted and trusted folks like cheapy, the bat, and the ships give us a low down.

Overall, it was as mind-numbing and ridiculous as Cheapy said it was, it was so full of nonsensical references to books and authors that they had to include a bibliography. I do feel bad for the PR person. They should open up a new position at SK, Senior VP in Charge of Handling Dyack, preferably someone with toxic waste experience.

I will give Too Human a chance, just like I would any game, in spite of Dyack's best efforts to get me to do otherwise. It does make you wonder if Dyack is out of his mind or is he really shrewd and this is his purposeful way of garnering more grass roots coverage of his game. Although my money is on the former and the latter is just a by-product.

I'm an old school gamer for the most part (haven't owned a system since N64) and I must say I took a bit of offense to the Chrono Trigger bantering. A time traveling horse? Call me a fanboy but I didn't find much humor on a topic that should have been discussed with at least a shred of importance. A franchise that has been stalled for eight or so years and has people creaming their pants could have made for a great Nintendo segment. All I'm saying is that this is a pretty big deal that could bring a true sequel to one of gaming's most beloved stories and it deserved some more coverage.

Guys you should really Give Yakuza (and September's NA release Yakuza 2) a shot. The game has one of the best stories I have seen in a game with excellent (not MGS4 Length.. well except the ending) cut scenes. Thing is though the game play is kinda repetitive and that might be off turning for a while but well worth the advancement of the story. The movie based on the game is as well. As you can probably tell I am a big fan. I find this game to be the best thing to come out of Sega since the Dreamcast.

You're right. But you see many people forget what kind of marriage this game is between the creater of final fantasy, the composer of Final Fantasy and the artists/creater of Dragonball Z.

I am also upset with all the people who say "duuuh who wants to play a remake duuuuuuuh". Very simple. Unless you want to play the PSX version that has extremely looooong load times or can find an original SNES copy of the game for less than 60 bucks WITHOUT the box an manual (The complete set can go anywhere from 90-150 bucks) from ebay or anywhere else I suggest you shut the Fuck up (aimed at the whiners). Chrono Trigger is one of the best if not THE best RPG ever made. I have played this game as a ROM 10 years ago and never finished it. Then bought the PSX version of this game 5 years ago and still haven't finished it because it si such a long game. The game is made of pure quality unlike a lot of RPGs lately I have seen. On top of that this is a remake for a Moble console that I am sure everyone has. So how can you go wrong? I may be a fanboy of this game but I alway see the other side of the story to which I simply say, if you don't like/want a remake of this game then please get back in line and wait for something better to come out.

A few years ago a dude tried to make his own homebrew remake of this game in 3D graphics. The attempt was wonderful until Square Enix shut it down. This however sparked a large interest in a remake and I am guessing this has been in development since.

Since this game is a handheld port I can't wait to get my hands on it and maybe end my 10 year quest to finally finish this game given that I will be able to take it everywhere.

Cheapy, I don't think that your argument about buying a game when it comes out(after pirating it) is valid. When a game is just released, you're usually paying a full retail price for it when you pick it up. However, over time the price goes down as the value of the game goes down. As you can see, a game loses its value over time. The reason that you pay $60 for Ninja Gaiden 2 on launch day as opposed to paying $40 six months later is so that you can have the game earlier when it is in high demand. As demand goes down, so does the price. It's a valuable thing to have a game before the release date, because so many people want the game, but have to wait until launch day to buy it. Because demand so high right before launch, the value of the game that you are pirating before launch day is most likely higher than that of a game you can buy legally on the day it comes out. I can maybe understand somebody pirating a game and buying it later for the same price that it was when they pirated it, but otherwise I still believe that pirating is wrong.
And Cheapy, if the interview is a bad interview because it's a train wreck, then the Real World is a bad TV show because it's about people who are train wrecks.
At first I just thought that Denis Dyack was just an outspoken guy, but after seeing more and more of him, it seems like he's just really whiny. If you watch the 1UP Show segment on Too Human, you see him making excuses all the time. What I'm now seeing is a guy who never learned to accept criticism. I really am not trying to bash him, but if he wants me to stop thinking of him as a whiner and complainer, he has got to stop posting on message boards, talking to the gaming press, and just in general not talk to the public. I don't think all game devs should do this, but Denis Dyack needs to let some other guy from SK do the talking.

Love the show, by the way :P.

There has been zero confirmation that the Rock Band 1 songs will be downloadable content for free for Rock Band 2. It was mistakenly assumed by someone from IGN. I think the legal ramifications are too huge for this to be possible.

Cheapy lets face it. Evveerryybody knows that the future of promotion is in video game forums. Dyack is just a smart guy who is inenting this new type of promotion. haha any who. Can I just say that this whole thing about how you never got an invitation from Microsoft pisses me off. It goes to show how Nelson and his community team has become a bunch of snobby Fucks. I say that the CAG community starts a campaign to DESTROY Microsoft. I mean how can they snub Cheap Ass Gamer when, you, Cheapy have been so nice to them. And Wombat... as a fellow jew and a person with no German lineage what so ever I can totally agree that the people running XBOX are nazis. Except for Nelson Rodriguez. He is cool and Achievment Junkie is a good podcast.

God I hate you.

That sucks that you guys can't get an appointment with Microsoft, I hope the real reason is a change in corporate marketing and just MS slighting the mid-major gaming sites. What ever the reason, there is no reason any CAGs should take out frustrations against Major Nelson, Nelson R, or any of the gamerscore blog guys. These kinds of decision typically come from people way further up the food chain that have no idea what those types of decisions have on the community.

I listened to 1upYours today like I always do and I have to agree with Cheapy. They wisely let Dyack hang his own rope. I agree with some of what he had to say about how different and more types of communication don't equate to better communication, and that people often hide behind the anonymity and lawlessness of message boards. But in this case the messenger may not be the right one to start the revolution. I agree that his ramblings, while well meaning on his part, are doing more harm to his company and I think the future of Silicon Knights rests on the sells of Too Human.

Also Cheapy, my guilty television pleasure is The Real World as well. One of my crowing achievments is sleeping with one the Real World/Road Rules alumni when she came to MSU on a speaking tour when I was in college.

Hilarious show as always guys. When Cheapy said Tila Tequila had a Mongoloid head I almost shit. Although isn't that considered a racial slur to Asians? Oh well, she is a stupid bitch. Season three should just be her opening up a "Rub 'n' Tug". At least then she'd be guaranteed a happy ending. Hell, let Cronenberg direct it and maybe a talking anus will tell her who to pick and give her some heroin disguised as pesticide.

In response to Cheapy believing there isn't a problem if you buy the game later after pirating it first, tell me if this analogy works. If I try to steal a bottle of Coke, and am caught, I tell them I'll pay for it and do, am I free of any repercussions?

Hey Cheapy, I went to high school with Brittany, one of the last girls to be eliminated. Oh, high school rumors..

Guys, I regret joining the cag facebook page because revealing his name has eliminated the last source of mystery surrounding the Wombat Enigma. I kinda felt the same way when the shipwrecks showed their pictures. I liked using my imagination to picture what they looked like and to make up fake real names for Wombat. Heck, it could've been a contest.

I couldn't disagree more. Game designers, as the author's of discoursivity, have a responsibilty to be aware of, and contribute, to the development of the study of said discourse.

This of course can be placed in tension with a responsibility to a studio. However, the subject of this particular conversation revolves around the long term effects of the currect state of the relationship between NEOGAF (and similarly elegedly harmful entities) and the industry.

If Denis is correct (which is debatable, but certainly not without merit) then even as a company man, the long term survivability for SK is dependent on these problems being addressed now.

His position gives him a priviledged voice, and as an academic I applude his motivation (if not his methods) of trying to open a valuable discussion.

I'm an academic, too, so please take this as constructive criticism: Your writing will be a lot clearer if you stop using so many prepositional phrases. It will also sound a lot less snobbish.

I know it's a message board—I don't expect you to write perfectly. It's just that you obscure a legitimate point too much by calling yourself an academic and using words like "discoursivity" (which I can't find in the dictionary).

Another X360 Red-ringed? why even support some company that gives you extra stress, when the entire product is suppose to help you release stress ?

Guess Wombat's already immune to all the faulty-ness of the Xbox's console. So cheer up Wombat, you have alot of silent supporters out there.

Great show.
I just want to correct your English terms. When you were discussing "bull balls" and such, you said it was good onomatopoeia, but it's actually alliteration. Onomatopoeia are words that mimic sounds such as "bang" and all those great 60s live action Batman TV graphics.
