Buying a gamecube soon, questions

Vega$

CAGiversary!
The overall number of titles released on the system exceeds 700

Got that information from wiki, my question is there a site that list all 700 games, or just a site where they have ever release game listed?

Also, i was curious can you play ever game that was release on gamecube on nintendo's wii?

Note: I am not buying wii until maybe 3 years from now, but i was curious.

I don't know about a site to list all 700 games. The Wii is supposed to play ALL GC games. I doubt anyone, even nintendo, has tested all 700 to any real extent, but I haven't had any trouble. Well, that's not true...a used copy of Pikmin 2 got returned since it wouldn't load, but another copy runs fine. Anyway: There is no psudo-BC like 360. All GC games are supposed to work.

The only thing to watch out for, is there are reports of the wii corrupting GC memory cards if they're left in the system while it's on standby. Never had any issues myself, but that's what I hear.

Wikipedia should've had that list as a link from the Gamecube article. I can't seem to find a list on Google of any incompatible games anyone's found for the Wii. And while it hasn't happened to me, I have read several reports of gamecube mem cards being corrupted from WC24. I keep mine out of the machine now anyway. Otherwise, I've been using my Wii as a Gamecube and it's been fine.

All GC games should work on the Wii without problems (except for ones from other regions). The Wii has a GC pretty much built into it, so its as if you were playing the game on a GC in the first place.

Well i will just buy gamecube for gamecube games and buy wii for wii games. Because i am not buying wii until 3 years from now, no rush for it. And i really want to play geist and other games now, so i will buy gamecube this weekend or next weekend with about 10 games.
WOOOOOOOO
Well if you're looking for geist i'm selling a copy of it, also cml if theres anything you'd like
Geist is at my gamestop for 6.99 , thanks anyway. I wish they make a geist 2 for wii also.

Actually, the Wii doesn't have a GCN built in (like the PS3's -60GB model- built in "PS2" or the PS2's built in PS). The Wii actually IS a GCN. A superpowered, overclocked GCN with extra RAM, if you will. When you load a 3" GCN disc, the Wii actually ceases being a Wii and reboots the hardware so that it is running exactly as the GCN hardware runs. Thus, there are no incompatible GCN games for the Wii.

Here are a couple of links to game lists:

http://nintendo.wikia.com/wiki/List_of_GameCube_games

I don't really feel like comparing them for you. Nintendo used to have a section on their site where you could look up any set of games under many different parameters (such as list all Gamecube games). Under their new site redesign, I think they may have junked this section. Sad, really.

It's not pretty much, there is a gamecube in the Wii.

And Nintendo.com had a ncie list, I think the tonal is close to 600 through.

Thats really interesting that gamecube had so many games release. I thought the console only had about 150 to be honest lol.

Thanks for the links and information :)

dont buy a gamecube if i could chose 2 be 1million dollars in debt or hav a game cube and chose the 1million in debt and buy a wii now in 3 years they'll b a piece of shit like the game cube

A word to the wise. Even though the gamecube is the best built last gen system, get a new one. If you do a little searching you may be able to find a new one cheap. I saw 2 platinum ones the other day at a Walmart near me for $49.00. Kmart also had them for like $25.00 new, and Target were clearancing these out as well for about the same price as Kmart.

And I totally agree with you about just playing your games on their respective systems. I think it will give the newer systems a longer lifespan. Less wear and tear on the systems. I still play my gamecube games on my gamecube. My Xbox games on my Xbox, but I don't have a choice in that matter seeing as my 360 just conked out on me the other day for good. And I have an 80gb PS3 that I haven't opened yet, but when I do, I will not play a single PS2 game on that system.

And after saying all that, as I am posting this, my son just popped in NBA Street V3 for the gamecube in the Wii. Excuse me while I go beat his ass!

Either you are some sort of fanboy or you have never played the gamecube. OP, do not listen to him, go ahead and make that very sound purchase. Because the gamecube has some of the best games out of all those last gen systems, and some of the newer ones I might ad. Nintendo is the most innovative company in this race. The Wii will not be a piece of shit in 3 years. Hell in 3 years the next system that Nintendo has in store for us will be out. The Wii will be cheaper and will have a nice library with most of the launch titles having budget prices. When it comes to gaming, I live by this mentality. No matter how old or how long a game has been out, if you haven't played it then it is still new. Remember this, no one does first-party games better than the Big "N", nobody. (Sony is a close second)

I wouldn't buy a new GC mainly because the older models were able to read a boot disc that let you play import GC games in a US system. Japan has some fun games for the GC in all genres.
I would recommend shelling out the money for a wii, but whatever
The GameCube's cheaper and easier to find...and honestly, given the somewhat bleak prospects we've got for new releases in the near future, he might be better off waiting for a little while on the Wii anyway. The GameCube has a ton of good games to justify the cost. :)

I traded my busted launch PS2 and a handful of games to EB for a new 'Cube and Luigi's Mansion. Man, I loved my 'Cube. Still have it - I'd get rid of it, but it's not really worth anything. Excellent system, though - nearly everything Nintendo released was great, and there's a bunch of sleeper third-party hits on there as well.

You won't regret your 'Cube. Quality gaming at rock-bottom prices.
Sure, but if you're planning on getting a Wii later anyway, the gamecube is just extra cost.

Not that it really matters, they're what, $20-$25 now?
Gameboy Player.

That is all.

Gameboy Player, Fantasy Star Online 1 & 2, Action Replay*, Advance Game Port*, and the following incompatible with LAN system link with the broadband adapter:
1080 Snowboarding
Kirby's Air Ride
Mario Kart: Double Dash!!

I think that is all.
