Dam, I still haven't got my issue in.
It is a good one. Great special feature
what was wrong with ghost recon 2 for it to score so low?
EGM reviewers say more of the same - They are calling it a standard issue. And some dumb AI. I can write up the reviews for you, if you like?

So why did NCAA March Madness get a better review than Sega's college basketball game? I had been given the impression Sega was the one to get this year (much as I like Dick Vitale...*flame shield ACTIVATE!*)
If ping pals would of bought at least 10 ads in the mag they it would of went gold.
The reason EGM is the only video game mag I read consistently is because their reviews are typically spot-on. Maybe you see commercial influence; I can't say that I have.

I concur 100%. EGM reviews are solid

ESPN 2K5
Last season's game had two big problems: it neither played nor felt like collage bball. Now, after years of practice ESPN 2kS displayes flashes of greatness but still comes up short.

NCAA Madness 2005
Few sporting events are more exciting than the three weeks in the spring when 65 universities battle for the college bball crown. It called March Madness and NCAA March Madness 2005 lives up to the name iwth its spot on portrayal- from gameplay to atmosphere - of the intercollegiate hardwood. The quick thinking AI forces you to contend with full courst presses and traps, plus you'll really feel in command of the court htanks to the all new and surprisingly easy play calling system.

Thanks...I picked up Sega's because I've taken a course in coaching basketball at my university, and I wanted to try the coaching play mode. But if EA's better captures the atmosphere (something they've always been very, very good at), I might have to pick it up too if I can find it on the cheap...

I only wrote the first paragraph for each game. Would you like me to complete the review?
Which school are you coaching?

I went to St. John's and finished at Belleview High School. Small world.

Don't trouble yourself, only if you have nothing better to do.

I'm not actually coaching, I just took a course on it because I'm a huge college basketball fan and I wanted to get a better understanding of the X's and O's of the game, so to speak. Maybe I'll try coaching high school or middle school some day, but since I was never gifted enough to play beyond middle school, I doubt I'll ever coach anything approaching college-level.

If you meant in the game, NC State. Always NC State. Gotta use my alma mater (just graduated a few days ago!).

Here's the rest

ESPN
(cont.) 2K5 has its ups and downs in several areas. On the hardwood, squads finally apply pressure and double team realistically, but cross half court and players tend to stand around and watch the man with the rock. Teh developers tried to inject a livelier campus atmosphiere via the audito yet the result is out of sync cheers that sound like a handful of coeds screaming in an empty gymnasium - not good. And forget abou the commentaary; these guys lack the Dick Vitale-esue enthusiasm and keep yapping long after the play.
Thankfully, legacy mode has improved as its innovative recruiting system returns with a streamlined interface, and now you're treated to video highlights through a virtual ESPN.com. Tood bad much fo 2K5's on court action isn't as appealing as this fleshed-out game mode.

Madness 2005
(cont.) The game's ambience is also scholorship worthy; players slap the floor Duke style to pump up the crowd, the student body chants so loud that the screen actually shakes when visiting squads step up to the free throw line, and in his own words, Dick Vitale's commentatry is "awesome, baby". EA has also tossed in one very sweet extra: the ability to re-create some of the finesg moments in college bball, like Villanova's miracle win over G-town in the 1985 title game or Jordan's last second J to win the title game. Now next season, how about takeing the much needed step of prettying up those visuals?

EGM isn't as bad as others when it comes to commercial influence, but it happens. One example: Driver 3 got an 8.5/7.5/6.5.

Wow, Kingdom Hearts COM got a pretty crappy score. So far I love it.

But they did give DOA a decent score, instead of the 9 and 10 I've been seeing.
Go mr. driller go! (watches mr. driller run around the corner as i sit on my stoop)
I was surprised by that score as well. They reviewed a lot of DS games

WOw, Kingdom Hearts: Chain of Memories got low scores all around. I'm really enjoying this game. I wonder what reasons they gave for it being that low. The game IMO is awesome especially for a GBA game. I don't think they know what they have in their hands with that game.

Here were the negatives in thier review
"Problem is, fans of the first Hearts wil feel a little deja vu. Yeah, I know the premise is that Sora and friends are trying to regain their memories, but its a little game you're visiting the same Disney themed worlds and fighting the same bosses as the last game, so there's almost no story development until the very end."

Another reviewer
"Although billed as the bridge between the first and second PS2 Kingdom hearts Adventures, Memories feels more like a Golden Girls clips episode - lots of reminiscing and recapping in lieu of new hijinks. If you've played throught the original game, don't expect much in the way of plot here. In fact, Hearts newbies will likely dig it more than the vets. "

Yeah I agree. It does feel more like Deja Vu. Ayways I almost beat it. Can't wait for the little secret at the end.
what is up with Ghost Recon 2's low score? is that ps2 or xbox
Ghost Recon is for Xbox.

One reviewer's recap that gave it a Seven.
"When the original Recon was released, Xbox Live was a fledgling service with almost nothing you could consider a "killer app". But it was Recon that showed us the potential by letting us slither through the great outdoors with fellow gamers online.
Now, two years later, Recon's sequel is disappointingly the same - never mind the over the shoulder view. Gorgeous graphics and detailed character models do nothing to offset the fact that the game lacks decent A.I. for both friendlies and enemies. As it is, your tour of duty in N. Korea is more lilke a stroll through communist shooting gallery full of tigers. Unsurprisingly, it's the multiplayer that carries Recon 2. Unlike most of the online shooters for Xbox Live, this gamer is slower and more deliberately paced - a rhythym favored by snipers and campers alike.

I wish they would've reviewed a few of the games they put in the Wrap Up. I wanted to see what they'd give Budokai 3 and Metal Slug Advance and why. I don't like that they just exclude these games even though there aren't that many reviews in this issue.

I can give them the syopsis that EGM wrote if you want.

I have it, I'm just complaining about the fact that they just wuss out on reviewing those games to make way for more Halo 2 screens or whatever.

They did have a really small writeup about GTA that I was not happy about either.
