By now you’re probably finishing up those last few levels of Journey to the Center of the Earth and ready to set aside additional time with the man, the myth, the legend… so get ready to raid some more tombs with Brendan Fraser. Judging by the thirty seconds of game footage that is available, they're will be lots of shooting, hand-to-hand combat, and Lara Croft style traversing of the environments. The Wii version offers up some motion-based puzzle solving and Eurocom has some experience in making similar style games in the past that were rather enjoyable ("Buffy the Vampire Slayer: Chaos Bleeds" & "Sphinx and the Cursed Mummy"), so maybe this will defy the odds and turn out decent. But then again, you also get to play as the son of Brendan Fraser's character "where appropriate", which suggests that there are times when being Brendan Fraser isn't optimal. Blasphemy. - ship

This restaurant sim for the Wii requires gamers to manage their cooking along with the rest of the staff as they frantically try to meet the orders of the incoming customers. The graphics are cel-shaded and the overall game has a bit of sarcastic humor within. The game controls solely with the Wii-mote, with the d-pad function to cycle through your various cook stations. Eventually, you earn enough money to hire other chefs. Order Up! is a casual title that might not be challenging enough for the hardcore gamer but is sure to be entertaining for the general Wii audience. (Deja Preview) If you haven't been able to commit to any of the SNK Anthology collections we've been previewing over the last year, think of this as one heck of a cheap sampler pack. It's like when you go to T.G.I. Friday's and aren't quite sure that you want a whole order of just Crispy Green Bean Fries, Zen Chicken Pot Stickers, or Chimichurri Sliders, so you go for the Three-For-All instead. Well, SNK Arcade Classics Vol. 1 is the Three-For-All of the video game world. Except it's a Sixteen-For-All and at $15 it's probably cheaper than the Jack Daniel's Sampler once you factor in not having to leave a tip. You get a nice mix of fighters (Art of Fighting, Fatal Fury, King of Fighters '94, King of the Monsters, Samurai Showdown, World Heroes), action (Burning Fight, Magician Lord, Sengoku, Top Hunter), scrolling shooters (Last Resort, Metal Slug, Shock Troopers), and sports (Baseball Stars 2, Neo Turf Masters, Super Sidekicks 3). (Deja Preview) Okay, so after the extreme letdown that came with playing The Deadly Secret of Olde World Park (the first Nancy Drew DS title), I wasn't about to get my hopes up with this second title. The first game was not graphically pleasant, the mini games were ultra repetitive, and the "clues" within the gameplay were easily found via the giant magnifying glass where you were supposed to point with your stylus. Olde World was rated E for everyone, but no one should every buy it. It is with those feelings of dread that I approached this game. What I found was a decent trailer and some added new features that both scare and excite me: snowmobiling, boating, sneaking a-la MGS, and an E10+ rating (you can guess which ones scare me and which ones excite me). The bottom line: this game could suck, or maybe it will be decent. I most certainly won't be fantastically awesome. Let me buy it (because I will anyway), and I'll let you know. - mrs. ship

Although the title is somewhat ambiguous, this game is similar to Commando, but with Ninjas who are also Commandos. It's a fun top-down run and gun shooter with "Ninja Tricks" and "Somersaults", but I must warn you that it doesn't feature Snake Eyes or Chuck Norris due to their decisions to leave the Ninja Commando Labor Union. - ship

Okay, who decided to make a brighter, more psychedelic, and more super version of Fantasy Zone and then wait 16 years before releasing this in America? I want them fired... at least 15 years ago. In what is probably the most innovative downloadable title this week comes a fun new puzzle game about bridge building. Yes, bridge building. Since bridges on their own are fairly commonplace, they've added in elephants. Elephants who need to cross large chasms. With a set number of bridge pieces, each level is about putting together a bridge that can withstand the weight of your elephant. The graphics are good, the gameplay is new in a nostalgic, lemmings sort of way, and the price is right for just $5. Holy cow, a cheap game that's worth it. Let the Elefunk begin. - mrs. ship
Rayman (Last Week) Systems: PSN (PS3, PSP) MSRP: $5.99
This funny looking character has no arms or legs and turns 12 years-old this week. Still, his decent platformer from the original PS era might be worth playing just for the sake of nostalgia. Sure, it’s full of what you’d expect with the jumping and the swinging and the collecting of items. But if you’re looking for an old-school game for cheap, this one is worth thinking about. Especially on the PSP; the portability improves the game’s overall presentation. - mrs. ship
Siren: Blood Curse Episode 1 Systems: PSN (PS3) MSRP: $
A re-imagining of the survival horror game that not too many people played on the PlayStation 2, this rendition thrusts American protagonists into the creepy Japanese village. If you didn't play the original, which of course you didn't, Siren is a combination of stealth and horror in really dark environments with enemies that the Silent Hill games apparently had no use for. The game gives you the ability to "sightjack" the townfolk and evil nurses that are trying to kill you, so that you can gain an understanding of things from their perspective, and unlike the original game, you can now move your character while sightjacking due to the game splitting the screen. And speaking of splitting, Sony has decided to release this episodically over 12 episodes, so if you want to sneak past zombies you're going to need to be both patient and willing invest small chunks of cash. - ship
1942: Joint Strike Systems: XBLA, PSN (PS3) MSRP: $10
Capcom's latest revamp comes to both PSN and XBLA this week and offers updated graphics, co-op play, and the familiar scrolling and shooting the series is known for. By updated graphics, I mean those weird "yeah, it looks hi-def, but there's something off about the interactions with the environment and the edges look to sharp" kind of graphics that so many of these downloadable games have. To go along with the co-op mode and cooperate with the sub-title, the game features a "Joint Strike" attack where a laser is tethered between the two planes and used to cut through swarms of enemies. - ship
Double D Dodgeball (Last Week) Systems: XBLA MSRP: $10
Initially I thought this was a clever title, obviously referring to the women with large breasts found in the game. Then I played the demo and there aren't any people at all, let alone huge knocker physics and bikinis. I feel like this title should have been reserved for a fun, new Dead Or Alive game all about dodgeball. Instead, for the low price of $10, you'll get spaceship looking things in red and blue shooting a ball back and forth. Sounds exciting, I know. - mrs. ship
Go! Go! Break Steady Systems: XBLA MSRP: $10
One thing I noticed at E3 this year, there were more music rhythm games on the show floor than people to play them. And while, I don't think this breakdancing game was there, I think you get my point. But if you feel like breakin', just hit the correct colored button as it makes its way to the center of the screen to the beats of original non-licensed tracks. Watch out Guitar Hero & Rock Band. - ship

If you didn't play the original, which of course you didn't, Siren is a combination of stealth and horror in really dark environments with enemies that the Silent Hill games apparently had no use for. The game gives you the ability to "sightjack" the townfolk and evil nurses that are trying to kill you, so that you can gain an understanding of things from their perspective, and unlike the original game, you can now move your character while sightjacking due to the game splitting the screen. And speaking of splitting, Sony has decided to release this episodically over 12 episodes, so if you want to sneak past zombies you're going to need to be both patient and willing invest small chunks of cash. - ship
1942: Joint Strike Systems: XBLA, PSN (PS3) MSRP: $10
Capcom's latest revamp comes to both PSN and XBLA this week and offers updated graphics, co-op play, and the familiar scrolling and shooting the series is known for. By updated graphics, I mean those weird "yeah, it looks hi-def, but there's something off about the interactions with the environment and the edges look to sharp" kind of graphics that so many of these downloadable games have. To go along with the co-op mode and cooperate with the sub-title, the game features a "Joint Strike" attack where a laser is tethered between the two planes and used to cut through swarms of enemies. - ship
Double D Dodgeball (Last Week) Systems: XBLA MSRP: $10
Initially I thought this was a clever title, obviously referring to the women with large breasts found in the game. Then I played the demo and there aren't any people at all, let alone huge knocker physics and bikinis. I feel like this title should have been reserved for a fun, new Dead Or Alive game all about dodgeball. Instead, for the low price of $10, you'll get spaceship looking things in red and blue shooting a ball back and forth. Sounds exciting, I know. - mrs. ship

One thing I noticed at E3 this year, there were more music rhythm games on the show floor than people to play them. And while, I don't think this breakdancing game was there, I think you get my point. But if you feel like breakin', just hit the correct colored button as it makes its way to the center of the screen to the beats of original non-licensed tracks. Watch out Guitar Hero & Rock Band. - ship

Long ago, in a far off land, BioWare released this martial arts RPG and people wondered why it wasn't Star Wars. Now they can just wonder why they wouldn't just buy this used at GameStop for $8. - ship
