[preview][img-l=1]2[/img-l]Wombat & Shipwreck join forces to create the CAGplay Forecast. A terrible name for sure. The show basically boils down to a CAGcast without a large, pasty bald guy living in Japan mixed with a CAG Foreplay without the sex appeal. Instead, you get an average-sized, pasty red-headed guy living in Ohio and, well, I guess Wombat better start shaking that money maker.

Did Igor throw the switch on this concoction? Scary...

Edit:

Okay... I listened to this on the drive to PAX today... and I've got to say that sadly, the talks about Fantasy Football and Nintendo were incredibly boring. I mean, especially the Nintendo bit, I could tell that both of you guys were wanting to say "I barely play my Wii ever, there are hardly any games that I'm excited for that are coming out, any potentially blockbuster firstparty Wii games are months and months away, and on top of that, I may not even be excited for them when they're announced." Instead, you basically just avoid the truth and say "Well, it's dissapointing, but I don't know." For 10-15 minutes! Uhhhg, well, I'm gonna listen to the rest of the show, but my god I'd have more fun watching paint dry.

I'm still waiting for a Mr.s Shipwreck CheapyD show. Will be golden.

Too Human talk 5 minutes too long I think. Good show, needs less Dreamcast = Wii talk. What a weird thought. Mrs. Ship and Cheapy are good at moving the show along at a good pace.

woodcan is "kills friend" dude. If you play hardcore team deathmatch with him you'd understand why. :)

- Don't worry, Shipwreck. You're not the only person who likes Japanese-style games.

- One of my biggest complaints about Spider-Man 3 is that it is an abomination to humankind.

- Secret Invasion has been boring. Final Crisis has allowed for much more engagement.

- Hehehe... great outro music. It should be standard.

Ditto...

But I don't know about that Dreamcast/Wii comparison there Ship. Yeah, that needs to be fleshed out as you said ;).

You were on to something though when you differentiated the Xbox crowd from the Wii crowd based on their affinity for 1st/3rd person shooters. I'm with you there. Maybe, then, it is like the Dreamcast in that it had more of the quirky non-mass market games. Yet Wombat called that a bad thing - I think it is actually a very good thing. I mean, I have an Xbox and love it (mostly for non shooters - there are plenty of good non-shooters on the 360 for sure). However, I have been taking a 360 break to catch up on some Wii games this summer. I'll be jumping back in for Tales of Vesperia though - probably one of my most anticipated titles of the year (right there along with Tales of Symphonia 2 for the Wii ;)). However, my time now is consumed with 2 other JPRGs (FF IV on the DS, and Chocobo's Dungeon on the Wii which is a vastly underrated and over-ignored title IMO).

Another reason I was holding off on 360 games was to wait for the Fall update so I can install games on the HD and have a much quieter experience (where I can actually hear the game over the machine during my late night gaming sessions when I can't blast the sound)...

Yeah, I'm sure I'll be working my way through that one for a while today. I think I have a valid point there somewhere, but I'm not sure of a good way to express it yet.

sounds like something I would say

This is kind like that episode of the cartoon series C.O.P.S. (Central Organization of Police Specialists), where C.O.P.S. and Crooks teamed up for the fight against drugs.

Points are awarded to anybody who knows the show, and extra points to those who actually watched it when it was on TV.

The show was awesome because the preisdent or mayor whatever, was a black woman in a wheelchair. Because in the furure we are accepting of all races, sexes and disabilities, well only if you are all three.

Dreamcast is like Wii if you removed the top 20 games from Dreamcast's catalog. I still play Dreamcast. No longer play the Wii.

Ship your Keepers are awesome! Drew Bress will put up good fantasy numbers and A. Johnson is the #1 for Schub. Hell I took Johnson in the 4th round and am very happy with that pick. But your keeper league is insane the ones I have been in only allow you keep people you picked 4th round or later, and on your roster the whole season. Oh well good luck this season. Wombat, really you dont need that much time to play FF and it makes Sundays more fun becuse you care about other games then just your favorte team.

The police chief (Bulletproof?) was also African-American (and bulletproof), if I recall correctly, but I was struck most at that tender age by the heavily stereotypical criminal big boss (er... Big Boss?) who was quite heavyset and had an accent I just loved to imitate ("Nyeah, nyeah!").

But what I was really wondering was whether ship was gonna identify the intro and outro music. I think I've heard the former but can positively identify the latter as Caedmon's Call. Should've been clued into it earlier, but I had no idea he was a Christian. Makes me feel a bit better about visiting a site that's called CAG (well, you know what it stands for). :)

What a nice collaboration between you two. Thanks for the show.

As for the Dualshock 3 discussion, you will feel like you're missing a bit of the experience in MGS4 with out DS3. You are constantly feeling the rumble in the controller throughout the game. However the only way that you will truly feel like you're missing something is when you play a game with Dualshock 3 and then play without it (normal SIXAXIS). You'll feel like the gameplay is missing a little something that you get in most modern games. It's worth getting if you need an extra controller, but $55 is a bit much for something that you aren't missing because you haven't played the game using it yet.

I wasn't paying close attention to the front page and I thought this was a repost of CAGplay Foreplay #1. I guess having the same picture doesn't help.

Wombat, I hate how people consider you negative and claim you hate everything. Your haters take so much offence when you point out the flaws in their sacred cows, they turn a deaf ear to your positive comments and opinions. The same thing happens to me. My friends say I hate all videogames, but refused to play Oblivion, Beyond Good & Evil, or Indigo Prophecy when I recommended them.

Shipwreck. Christian rock.. seriously? I took a production job with a Christian TV station out of desperation a few years ago and met a bunch of high profile Christian Rock acts. They were some of the rudest, most self centered people I've ever met. Rebecca St. James refused to go on camera without her own special lighting crew and makeup artist. Third Day, Rebecca St. James, and Tait were all assholes, and Newsboys stole our smoke machine and some other stage equipment. On the flip side I met John Tesh and he was really nice.

I watched that show everyday after school. I think I even had that particular episode on VHS. One thing I can remember was the guy with the robot dog. I think there was another guy with a grappling hook arm (Bionic Commando ripoff?)

I had the Mace and Sundown action figures...

btw..Christian Guitar Hero would be hilarious if the final boss is God and you have to do it to either Stairway to Heaven or Spirit in the Sky...lmao...

Wombat, I think from now on, you have to refer Chad Johnson to Chad Ocho Cinco.

Yes, he actually officially changed his name so he can have it on his Jersey...

so does this show up on the RSS feed for the CAG cast or CAG Foreplay or neither? I synced my Zune and I am not seeing this one on either feed. *edit* Nevermind I see it now. It is at the very bottom of the Foreplay podcasts.

I prefer.. Ocho Stinko

Interesting colaberation. The whole twilight argument goes back to Cheapy's Legend of Ted of whatever he called it. That had the main character not been Link the game would be ignored for the most part.

Liked Shipwreck sticking up for the JRPGs.

As others have pointed out, the intro was Five Iron Frenzy - "Wizard Needs Food Badly".

The outro is Caedmon's Call - "Potiphar's Door", which I believe is only available on one of their fanclub CD's (Guild Collection 2).

Two of my favorite bands, well, I think Caedmon's songwriting went downhill after they split ways with Aaron Tate, but their early stuff is amazing.

Wow, I got confused for a second... I look at the name and I see Forecast and I thought you guys were doing a weather show... I was seriously wtf'ing.

Downloading now but I'm wondering, who wrote the outline for this?

Edit: Nevermind, by Wombat saying it's his show and that he's hosting, I assume he made the outline.

Shipwreck, it's good to know that there are other Christian music enthusiasts out there! Way to stand up and say that not all Christian music sucks! Sure, some of it sucks, but there's also some really good stuff out there.

If you're a fan of Caedmon's Call then I assume you've listened to some of Derek Webb's solo stuff? It's fan-tastic. His first solo album "She Must and Shall Go Free" is especially great. Keep up the great podcasting!

Penny Arcade also had a good post today about the need for Christian Music in Rock Band / Guitar Hero. Color me surprised.

I think some of Pillar, POD, Thousand Foot Krutch, OC Supertones, Family Force 5's better songs would have some mainstream appeal and some level of difficulty in the game.

Haven't heard much of Derek's solo stuff myself, but I always liked the songs he wrote for Caedmon's, especially during the early years. But, yeah... I'd very much be interested in that Guitar Praise game, too -- if my computer can handle it (hey, it's pretty weak) and if my Rock Band guitar works with it.

The CAGplay Forecast? What we'll get next? The Green Eggs and Ham'Cast?
I think this is CAGplay Forecast #2 because I remember a Foreplay with Ship and Wombat in June.
Anyways great show guys.

You don't cover expansions on CAG Foreplay, Shipwreck?

Pixel Junk Monsters Encore Systems: PS3 MSRP: $5ish
Since I'm currently ultra-addicted to PJM, I was relieved to hear that there would be a new expansion pack, hopefully this week. Ship and I played this game together and had a blast. For those of you unfamiliar with our little monster friends, the goal of the game is to create towers with various weapons in order to eliminate as many monsters from taking over your board. That's just about as simply as I can describe tis quirky RTS title, so if you interest is peaked, check out the demo. The new expansion is rumored to be around $5 and will include a new island with 15 new maps. The special abilities you learned from the original will have to be re-learned for the sequel. Crap, no running! - mrs. ship
I don't know about the Dreamcast being a system that has a lot of great games. It has a good number, but not that many that would keep me playing for ten years after it came out.

Warhawk did have a tutorial out of the gate, but it would pop-up as you pick up a gun you've never tried before to let you know how to pull it up in the quick select and what it's good for. The new one is really in-depth, giving you more of a walkthrough of the weapons and skills than the original tutorial. It's very good for the crappy There are still plenty of servers that don't require you to purchase the add-ons, official or not, as you can filter out the games that use the maps you don't own. You don't need to own the booster packs to be able to play, though you could contact Sony to get codes for the new booster pack if you can handle the guilt, Wombat.
does he appear in the game at all? I thought he did the tutorial
Bruce Campbell narrated both the last gen movie games.
