Welcome to the new new clan thread! The old ones were getting a bit huge, so please start frequenting this one instead...

Clan practice schedule:

TUESDAYS: 8:30 P.M. CENTRAL - EVERYONE IN THE CLAN IS WELCOME. WE WILL PLAY LARGE CUSTOM GAMES WITH WHOMEVER SHOWS UP, SPLITTING THE ROOMS UP WHEN THEY GET FULL. STAFF MEMBERS WILL LEAD, AND WE WILL PERIODICALLY HAVE NEWBIE TOURS ON THE SIDE.

WEDNESDAYS: 8:30 P.M. CENTRAL - EVERYONE IN THE CLAN IS WELCOME. WE WILL BREAK INTO GROUPS OF EIGHT OR FOUR AND PLAY MATCHMADE GAMES (TEAM SLAYER AND BTB). EACH GROUP WILL BE LEAD BY A STAFF MEMBER.

THURSDAYS: 9:30 P.M. CENTRAL - THE 'ELITE' CLAN MEMBERS (WHOM LEDHED, ZEWONE AND MYSELF DEEM APPROPRIATE) WILL PLAY CLAN MATCHES. THE REST OF THE CLAN IS ENCOURAGED TO PLAY TOGETHER IN CUSTOM OR MATCHMADE GAMES.

Jimmie as Zewone said I didn't waffle back and forth I started in DCR. Now I did post in the thread about a month before the game dropped saying I was interested in the CAG clan, I dunno if that is what you are thinking

Also what do you guys think about maybe a weekend practice time? I'm surprised it hasn't been brought up since it seems that more people play at that time. Halo 2 really has its hooks in me so I should be on just about every night.

And for those starting out in this thread, tonight's practice is a normal practice, at 9:30PM.

The schedule on the top of the thread is starting next week.

that's what i've been suggesting...i play mostly on fri-sun night...but i show up on tues and thurs too...but more on weekends

Also Everyone talks about BTB and clan matches but I'd also like to play more team skirmish and team slayer matches. With a good team on those you can really rank up quickly because you only have to worry about three other people pulling their weight

Hey, I'm down with playing with CAGers anytime I'm online. Throw out a time and I'll try to make it. As for declaring a formal practice time, that is WAY outside my Peon abilities.

well yea but its harder to get 8 solid clan members on at once than 4. If you want to just break off 4 guys and play team skirmish, go ahead

Sorry to see you go Mooky...Narnian...Harmaket... I had a great time playing with you the past few months in all those games. You were one of the first CAG’ers that I played with and I’m sure we’ve had our share of ridiculous games, thanks for the good times buddy! Hopefully we can still frag every now and then once you figure out what your plans are.

As for the new schedule, I think that it's a great idea. I know for all us east coast-ers, only beginning at 10:30 was rough the next morning. Also the Tuesday night training, Wednesday Matchmaking, and Thursday Clan Match seem much more efficient than what we've been doing previously. I'm sure the regulars will still play in all game types on most nights of the week, but to have three specific ones set aside for each type of playing is a definite plus.

About the cuts... If the staff would like to get more serious, then you would have to make a definite decision as to the guidelines for letting people join the clan, stay in the clan, and booting people from the clan. If the rules could be listed on the front page of these threads, members would know what they have to do to get in and stay in. Just be fair to current members and if cutting is going to become a regular thing, it must be adhering to the guidelines that are thought up.

Lastly, why not have practice last a set number of hours? I know that playing custom games is fun up until a certain point. Possibly make practice 2 hours long, and then once that times up, create invite-only rooms to do matchmaking in. This way everyone will get their fair share, and those who would rather play matchmaking won't have to sacrifice an entire night for a four hour long practice.

As a side note, I just found out when my classes will be meeting. One is late Thursday night, so I doubt I'll be able to help out on the Elite team. I know everyone was counting on my l337 skills on our long journey to total clan domination. I'm gonna speak to the Prof about this unfortunate scheduling conflict.

I think one of the challenges the clan faces is that the way we bring in people is not a normal way that it is usually done. I'm not saying its bad just saying different. Usually clans add people by seeing them online and after assesing their skills gives them a clan invite. The more elite clans even have tryouts where like only the top finisher gets an invite. The only requirement to join this clan is that you post on this board. My CS clan I was in had it pretty good. We had a server that was well moderated, therefore we had a lot of traffic since people like playing somewhere that they know cheaters will have the smackdown laid on them. Anyways to make my point is we would bring in people we had played with for months so we knew exactly what we were getting. I really believe this clan will be great if everyone settles down and lets themselves become familar with each other because it takes more than two months to make a good clan.

You guys should start over, You've lost 80% of the matches due to Noobs kickin it after an hour of playtime....

Here's a suggestion from an outsider ;-)

Cut to 16-20 Members...and make people play 10 games with the clan....if they work as a team, great keep them....if they dont....tell them they dont make the cut.

If you feel bad about telling people that, pay JimmieMac $50 to go to their house and put them in the hospital for a week....(tell him to break the fingers so they never play Xbox again)

You have alot of members who are GREAT players....but cant play a team game to save their life....I'll PM you with a list if you care to know.

I've been working on a Halo 2 Tips website and I've been making plays for CAG Elites.....The website is my surprise everyone...but wait till you see it.... !!

I dunno....I felt horrible for leaving, but now I'm pissed cause now you're taking charge....I dont even know what to say about this.

The wheels of change are constantly turning around here, its hard telling how things are going to go, but as long as I stay on the top of the kills list I know I am not going anywhere. This clan is definitely going to go places.

I don't think rocksolid wants to cut people based on how they play. I asked and got no response so I would assume no.

I think those cuts came out from people who were non-active, or barely active.

I can vouch for Scorch's not being around being due to technicial difficulties with his broadband connection up until very recently, in conversations we've had among each other.

Two very fine ideas.

Knowing what keeps you in would be a very good idea, since I can only guess on what caused the cuts, which would be in activity. I'm sure a list of criteria wouldn't be that hard to figure out.

I'm up for two hours of practice as well, since that's a nice amount of time to get in a set agenda of things to practice, and from there, do something else.

Oh I know those cuts are for inactive people because I helped make them. I asked when I made that list if I should or could include people who just don't understand the concept of the game like JimmieMac was referring. I think in all honesty that this would help out the people who do understand what needs to be done. I'm not referring to people who aren't that good and can't arm a bomb. I'm talking about people who don't know they are suppose to arm a bomb. And I'm not talking about just Assault, that is just a example.

If some of them don't know about things like arming the bomb, this would be time to give a crash course about it. It took me a while to understand those items, though for someone who doesn't do one type of game often, some instruction in the basics. Yes, that's pandering down to those that should know it already, though one instruction on it should be sufficient, on the lines of bringing them the instruction though not forcing them to learn. Easy enough to do something offline to practice those basics as well.


If not, remind them that there are books to cover those situations.

The thing is you have to remind some people every game and every 30 seconds on what they are suppose to be doing. I guess I may be sounding kind of I don't know "mean" but at least don't let these people play major clan matches.

That sucks that I got cut for being on Vacation I did try to hook up a few times with the clan but by the time I could accept the invite the clan guys that were on at that time would be in custom non-joinable games. I know for a fact that the 3 days before Xmas I was on every night and could never get in with the clan guys, I left for Vacation on the 26th and just got back late Tuesday night.

I was on vacation and still showed my face in some clan custom games this past week.

No, that kind of reminder should only be done during practice. Or casual games. And realistically, only a couple of times.

Clan matches, that behavior doesn't fly, at all. I agree 100% on that assessment. Anyone that needs that kind of a kick during a major clan match, that's disaster in the making.

Calm down, someone has already vouched for you. Rock made the cuts this morning, and I doubt he knows you are active again.

I gotta say though: I've seen you online in the Xbox Dashboard a bazillion times, but never once have I seen you actually playing. When I read that you had played last night, I did a damn double-take. I'm sorry the timing of your cut was so unlucky, but you were cut for a reason.

Here is my apology for our internet fight before (they're my least favorite kind of fight). I really shouldn't have reacted that way no matter what you said. The fact that JimmieMac said something near the end of the other thread means that you obviously weren't alone, just the only one who would express his honest opinion. I'm sorry for everything I said and I hope that all can be forgiven and forgotten.

To the CAG clan leaders, you guys have been talking alot about changing it so the players that aren't as good will also get to play with CAGs, and it's good to see you guys want things to be changed. You guys have been doing a good job with the clan and it will hopefully improve with changes.

Oh, and that fragdoll thing was really funny. I was going to post something in that thread, but then I realized that I didn't want to join that forum at all, so I decided to do the lazy thing and not do anything.

Sorry dude. Its been a lot longer than just Chrismas break. Try since Nov. 9th.

Also rocksolidaudio told us to hold back on sending invites to people who were cut.

Arikado just called me from work; he's going to be there late, and may or may not be able to play tonite. He just wanted me to let everyone know that he hadn't forgotten about us.

and as for jimmiemacs list of people that should be cut (haven't seen it), but i am going to take a guess and say i'm on that list. if so then, its his opinion, but ask just about anyone, but in the week and a half i've been in the CAG clan, i've improved quite well in all aspects except for slayer, which i am working on. i know i am not the best player in the clan, but i bust my ass trying to play better. i enjoy playing with the clan and look forward to playing, but every time i get into a clan game, i am constantly remind of how horrible i am, and thats getting old. i can take the heat, but hearing it every damn time gets annoying.

i may be on tonight around 2EST if there isn't a lot of work to be done. so i'll look for people when i get on.

and as for jimmiemacs list of people that should be cut (haven't seen it), but i am going to take a guess and say i'm on that list. if so then, its his opinion, but ask just about anyone, but in the week and a half i've been in the CAG clan, i've improved quite well in all aspects except for slayer, which i am working on. i know i am not the best player in the clan, but i bust my ass trying to play better. i enjoy playing with the clan and look forward to playing, but every time i get into a clan game, i am constantly remind of how horrible i am, and thats getting old. i can take the heat, but hearing it every damn time gets annoying.
