Dr. Horrible's Sing-Along Blog for $9.99

Interesting that they are going for a DVD-R release for this. I know everything about the production was supposed to be relatively cheap, but does that mean that there isn't going to be a mass-market retail release for this? I have a hard time seeing a place like Walmart or Best Buy carrying a "new release" on a DVD-R (unless there has been some prior release like this that I didn't know about)

Either way I'm going to buy it anyway, but I am slightly disappointed if there isn't a mass-market release.
 
great video, but I'll pass on a DVD unless I hear it has amazing extras. Already bought the digital copy from iTunes on release to show support and appreciation.

It's got a musical commentary. That qualifies as an "amazing extra" to me :p

Rocko's Modern Life, Doug, Hey Arnold!, Danny Phantom as well as several live-action Nick shows are available on burned DVD-Rs through a deal between Amazon and Nickelodeon. Because they don't create the discs until an order is received, it takes about a week before they are shipped. I only wish the prices would drop more.

Thanks for clarifying, and I know I'm straying even further off-topic, but for those wondering about Rocko's Modern Life, the two best of sets available include all the Season 1 episodes, they are just in a random order. I'd love to purchase it, but I just can't bring myself to plunk down $40 for 13 episodes (26 shorts) with no extras and some cut episodes.

Hmm, I spent over $100 on a making a Dr. Horrible Halloween costume. I think I can stomach $10 for a DVD. Even though I already saved the whole thing from when it was free.

Mine shipped on Friday, too...but we got hit with a big snowstorm and Fedex delayed delivery of it (along with my copy of Price of Persia) until Monday.

Mine was out for delivery yesterday, per their tracking, but then returned back to their shipping center at 1:00 in the afternoon. Somewhat odd, but it's not likely I'd have had an opportunity to watch it this weekend anyway.
 
Showed up in the mail today, shrink wrapped (no sticker on the top holding it closed, yay) in a black amray case. Full color case art with credits, UPC code, special features, etc. No insert, disc also has a full color label. Looks pretty much just like any other DVD you would see sitting on store shelves.
 
Looks great. Not cheap at all (except with the back cover art looking just a tad fuzzy). Very great price at $9.99. Extras are fun and great.
 
Mine came in today. Ditto on the comments about the quality of the packaging. As additional info, I would describe the packaging as a really good bootleg -- Can't quite put my finger on what's wrong, but it looks good.

the front looks great, and then you flip it to the back and then you begin to see some very slight blurriness on the letters and pictures. Its so slight you hardly notice it. Its still very very good.
 
Ordered one, much to my wife's chagrin. We went so far over our Christmas budget this year, that even a $9.99 purchase sort of puts me in the doghouse at this point.

She was unimpressed with my justification: "Honey, it's...WHEDON."
 
Damn that title dropped fast. It was originally $16.99, then $13.49, and finally (today) $9.99. Why do people pre-order anymore?
