I love Pearl Jam but they peaked with Ten. Vs and Vitalogy were good but neither could stand up to Ten. After Vitalogy it was mostly downhill with a few good songs here and there.

I'm not like a super-big Pearl Jam fan but I'll definitely grab the essential crowd-pleasers like Jeremy and Evenflow. Can't deny the appeal of half-drunk Eddie Vedder impressions at 2 in the morning. :D

If there's any more Pearl Jam DLC on the way I hope we get Do The Evolution, that's a fun song! Also that song in Guitar Hero II was cool, I'd like to get that one as well.

Joystiq:

Amidst the drunkenness at the Harmonix Rock Band party, we learned that Pat Benatar's "other really popular song" is headed to Rock Band 2. If you rule out "Hit Me With Your Best Shot" (Guitar Hero 3 launch and Rock Band via DLC) and "Heartbreaker" (Guitar Hero: World Tour), that pretty much leaves "Love Is A Battlefield" as the likely contender.

Wrong. This is the order from best to worst (subject to change depending on my mood but Ten will never crack the top 1/2 and that record changed my life):

Binaural
Yield
No Code
Vs.
Vitalogy
Pearl Jam
Ten
Riot Act

IMO, of course but I am right.

I stopped at Binaural. I probably listened to the album about 20 times, and none of the songs stuck with me at all.

Didn't Ten get a re-release with bonus songs after the album came out? Something between the original pressing and the new version.

Cause I'm sick of seeing ghosts, and I know how it's all gonna end

There's no triumph waiting, there's no sunset to ride off in

We all want to be great men, there's nothing romantic about it

I just want to sell out my funeral.

I just want to be enough for everyone.

Of course people will just say that Pearl Jam sucked after Vitalogy, because that's the last album that really got major airtime.

For me it goes like this

Vitalogy
No Code
Vs.
Pearl Jam
Yield
Ten
Riot Act
Binaural

But they all are great in their own way and I ranked them based on songs on the album that I love. My main problem with Binaural is that I only love one song on the CD which is NAIS and the rest are either just good or mediocre. Riot Act has a lot of sleeper hits for me like LBC, 1/2 Full, and You Are. The last album was just damn solid from top to bottom and it flowed really well.

yeah, just because I ranked Riot Act last doesn't mean I don't love it. There are some GREAT songs on there. Don't forget Green Disease, Help Help, Save You and Cropduster! Unfortunately Bu$hleaguer is fucking awful. Binaural has arguably my all time favorite PJ song - Of The Girl. Evacuation, Grievance, Breakerfall, Insignificance, Light Years, Rival, Parting Ways are also amazing... OK, basically the whole thing... :D

The last few albums get better and better with each listen whereas I feel like I've gotten all I can get out of Ten. Plus, I'm not an angsty teenager anymore like when it first came out and really spoke to me.

We've found the two people that liked No Code. That album was shit on a disc.

Malik was right in the first place, and it has very little to do with not making videos/not getting radio play.

I really really like Pearl Jam and I agree that it is probably their worst. I like a few songs on there, but that album is pretty lackluster for the most part. Biaural and Riot Act are alright, but their last album was their best since Yield (which is their best album).

You are insane! ;) Red Mosquito, Hail Hail, In My Tree and Present Tense are freaking amazing. No Code is great - it's just such a radical departure from their first 3 albums and was definitely unexpected at the time it came out. For me, that is the album that turned them from some band I really liked but would probably grow out of to my favorite band that I will listen to for the rest of my life.

Count me as another one that liked No Code. I really liked Yield as well. I have to say looking back on things that I still enjoy all of their albums for one reason or another. I'm not going to rank them and argue about which one is better than the next, but I will say I probably spent the least time listening to Binaural just because I wasn't listening to them much at the time when the album came out.

One thing I have always liked about them is that they weren't afraid to try out new sounds and new styles. All the great bands with longevity have found out that they needed to switch things up and experiment with different sounds and styles to change with the times and PJ is no different. As much as I love Ten, I don't need 8 more albums sounding the same.

Hopefully I'll get some more time with the PJ DLC this weekend. Haven't had time to play alot yet and when I did I couldn't get the lag calibrated on my TV and it was too late to screw around with it. I would love to see more PJ stuff come out though.

One final thing that I have always loved about PJ is how good they are live (seen them 10+ times) and how good their covers tend to be.

Let's go Pens!

In all seriousness, is it possible to actually buy Alive? Like for people who only have RB1? (Same with "Give it Away" or any other Album DLC track that was on the RB2 disc)

I picked up the Super Deluxe edition from PJ official site hoping to get a signed copy but didn't get a signed one. I might picked up the deluxe edition from BB just for the 3 song code. I'm going to download the rest the album today on RB.

No Code is a cd that casual fans do not like since Pearl Jam went away from the sound of there 3 previous cd's so people say it sucks. Present Tense is a top 3 PJ song in my eyes though. I'll rank my order for the hell of it.

VS.
Vitalogy
Ten
Yield
No Code
Pearl Jam
Binaural
Riot Act
