Now's that time again when there's release upon release and retailers offer pre-order bonuses among pre-order bonuses. Since the last thread was only for Gamestop pre-order bonuses and hasn't been updated in a while, I felt it was in order to make a new one of these. I'd change the Demon's Souls pre-order; the art book and soundtrack is a pre order bonus no matter where you pre-order it, it isn't Amazon exclusive (as much as I love Amazon)
 
The only thing at Gamestop that I'm remotely considering a pre-order of is the Ninja Gaiden 2 Sigma Collector's Edition. I'm not entirely convinced that I want to spend $77 (w/tax) when I'd be able to get the regular edition from Amazon for, at most, $54.
 
Might I suggest listing the games then under each game say what each store is giving, like "Shared bonuses - Gamestop exclusive - Amazon exclusive", that way readers won't have to scroll back and forth to compare the bonuses. Either way thanks for putting this together.

so did anyone who pre-ordered uncharted 2 from gamestop get the multiplayer demo code? if not, then how are we supposed to get them? the dude at gamestop didn't really say how i was supposed to receive it. but i seen on the website that they were given out at time of reservation so i'm confused.
 
Great idea for a post. Especially as we're quickly rolling into the pre-holiday season. Granted the "holiday season" seems to start in September these days. Oddly enough, I'm not even 'crazy excited' for anything coming out after October this year.

Anyone know if that Muramasa wall scroll bonus is for just one or all of the scrolls shown on gamestops site?
I'd guess it would just be one, but then I don't think I'd chance it for an online order =/ Be nice if it was a whole set though.
 
I think you get the Halo: Reach beta invite when you buy the game on amazon too, or at least that's what the amazon page indicates.

Honestly the only thing remotely interesting is that wall scroll or Metroid poster. In-game content can usually be unlocked by other means or is simply a graphic tweak to an existing character model. Making the bonus rather pointless. Tshirts are always too small and there's no actual new content. Ah well, without bonuses to grab my attention I'm free to wait until the games hit their first sale which will probably be right after the holidays.
 
Why does Gamestop get all these exclusives? I only buy used there. I buy most games at Amazon. And you would think publishers wouldn't care to favor them for the gripes they have with them.

The reason is simple - they are trying to stay in business.

They are losing hold on the used game market, as other chains (and Amazon) are now starting trade-in programs.

On top of that, there is less and less of a reason to buy new games at GameStop if Amazon and online retailers sell them for less, even on release. Once games begin going digital, they're pretty much screwed.

From an unbiased view - getting exclusive 'extras' to entice people to buy from them is a good marketing strategy. Even if it does sort of suck.

Yes, yes they are. Wonderful, glorious pixels. Much like the women on a magazine cover. Oh but they're real? Too bad your chances with them are as good as your chances with Lara Croft. And when I'm looking at 1080p CG(or the equivalent in super detailed static drawings), the lines between fake pixels and real pixels are blurring.

The gripes of...selling more games at full cost rather than used/price drops? Huh? Lol what gripes do publishers have with gamestop selling more BRAND NEW games, which is what exclusive content does.
 
I'm pretty sure that $10 off Wet isn't a GameStop exclusive as Amazon has it at $49.99 too and it does say it's $10 off the $59.99 price.

I'm kinda hoping that MUA2 Juggernaut code isn't really exclusive and just leaks to the internet cause there is no way I'm getting that at GS for any reason.
 
Has anyone pre-ordered RB Beatles at GS and gotten the 3 free songs? I've already pre-ordered a copy on amazon, but if I can pre-order at GS and get the songs and then cancel the pre-order later, I may go do that for the 3 free songs.

because publishers don't want you to buy used, so they offer extra incentives to buy it on day 1
