What's in your PS2 library? What's missing?

Mattiful-Joe

Henshin a go-go, baby!
With the PS2 nearing its tenth year in the market, I figured most of us who have kept our PS2 collections must be at least close to either proclaiming that they're "almost complete" or that they're "moving on."

I'm in the "almost complete" category. I don't plan on buying a PS3 or 360 until much much later (if ever), and like my "old-gen" library. I have 442 games across the N64, PS1, DC, GCN, XBX, and PS2.

Of the 442 games, here's how they break out:
N64: 5
PS1: 27
DC: 33
GCN: 67
XBX: 135
PS2: 180

Practically all of my games were purchased new and since I'm much more a collector than gamer, a lot of these were barely played (around 30-35 are still sealed in my backlog).

There are a few more PS2 games I'd like to get my mitts on. Here's my collection as it stands now. All games are complete and like new (below, in alphabetical order). I keep an inventory of my collection so there are some remarks you'll notice. (*) means it's sealed and all Greatest Hits titles are denoted as (GH) -- if it is not, then it's the original black edition. (SG) denotes that I also have the official strategy guide.

There are only a few more games I'd like to pick up (about 2-4 more), depending on what prices I can get them at and what conditions they are in ... [Edit: Picked up the last few I wanted; think the collection is done]

So what do your collections look like? What games, if any, do you still want to get?

My PS2 collection is here. It includes games I used to own, and Okami, which I borrowed from my husband. Also, most of my backlog is PS2 games.

There are very, very few holes I've left to fill in my collection. Currently, my main want is Front Mission 5: Scars of the War, which would be the first and only import PS2 game in my collection. As for domestic wants, I'm thinking of finally checking out the Ratchet & Clank series.

I don't have my videogames online in any sort of database. Someday I'll do it.

Anyhow, I'm still looking to eventually gather up most of the 2/3 game bundles for PS2. I keep looking for Wal-Mart to drop the Medal of Honor 3 pack to $20. Same story with the GTA trilogy.

Other than that, I'm just about done. There isn't a genre that isn't well represented by my current library.

I'm hoping Amazon has more cheap PS2 memory cards this Black Friday. I've filled up four cards and there isn't really anything I want to delete.

This is what's in my PS2 collection

Games I'm missing are mostly survival games like Haunting Ground, Kuon, Rule of Rose, Fatal Frames, Silent Hill 3 onward, ect. Other than those, there are some RPGs and I still want to get games like Under the Skin, Finny, ChoroQ, Vampire Nights... stuff like that.

There are also some games my brother has that I would want in my personal collection like R.A.D., Way of the Samurai (the first one, specifically), Jak games, Ratchet games and a few GUST RPGs.

Crazy how Walmart still sells old PS2 games for $40-$50. Then again, I try to avoid buying things there (place of last resort, really). Only game I ever bought there was Shining Force EXA and that's b/c nobody had it anymore and Walmart was selling its last copy for $20.

I'd like to pick up a few JRPGs -- I've been meaning to pick up the Digital Devil Saga games and Nocturne but I think the Persona games have pretty much spoiled me. I'm also not a fan of the random encounter garbage. Can't really stand it anymore. I'd like to pick up Staff of Kings (only b/c I love Indiana Jones) and some cheap ones (Shinobi, King of Fighters 98 Ultimate Match).

I also want to play Tomb Raider Underworld but after hearing SO much negativity about the PS2 port, I think I'll just settle for picking it up on either PS3 and 360 and just wait until the one of the consoles hits the magic $99.99.

I still want to get the Metal Slug Anthology, and I'll pick up King of Fighters 2002 Unlimited Match if it ever gets localized. Past that, the only game I can even think of in the pipeline is Sakura Wars, and I'll most likely get that for Wii instead.

Feels strange to say it, but I think I'm pretty much done with the PS2. (Now, as for actually playing the games instead of just buying them, I'll be working through my backlog for the next decade, at least.)

I have too many to list here but I still need quite a few for my collection. Still need to get ICO, Oden Sphere and alot of other games. Sucks that I am no where near done with my collection :(

I think I broke the 200 mark, but I'm not done yet.

Want: Sega's Astroboy, Crimson Tears, red star, tomb raider games.

I'm skipping over the Atlus and Nippon Icchi stuff and survival horror stuff. I have Disgaea (haven't played it) and I think that's enough. Will get Persona 4 but will probably skip DDS. Silent Hill 2 is enough for me - I don't feel like searching for doors to unlock.

Cheap games I love: Mark of Kri, Nightshade, Onimusha, Sly, Galerians Ash, Sky Gunner, Haven, Getaway, Maximo.

Games that I wouldn't mind getting rid of: Drakengard series (horrible DW clone), GTA series ( like the simpler GTA 3 over the sequels), RAD, Xenosaga series.

I'm not going to go crazy on this gen stuff so the PS2 will have to keep me entertained for years to come. Fortunately I don't have to worry about my PS2 laser dying, but I've got backup consoles should I need them.

The only PS2 games I've been wanting to get are Persona 4 and possibly Digital Devil Saga 2. I bought a "used" reprint of DDS 1 from GS last year but haven't played it, so putting off getting DDS 2. P4 will obviously stick around and go down in price so I'm in no hurry there. I keep a partial list of my collection on CAG and backloggery, mainly to help me see what I've been neglecting when deciding on the next games to play.

Interesting on the Xenosaga comment -- I spent about $50 to pick up all three and never got around to them. Truth is I only bought them for the collector in me. I figured there'd never be a game series like that again and it would never really ever be popular enough to get a GH treatment (minus the first one) or a complete reprint.

Thus far, I've been right ;-) I don't expect GQD to get a Xenosaga reprint -- a bit too late now to be going for that. The Xenosaga series should become one of those rare trilogies that may not age very well, but should hold their value.

I've been wondering whether I should drop $90 bones and pick up Nocturne, DDS1 and DDS2 -- but I have to say it would again be for the collector in me -- I don't really play these RPG games so I've decided not to ... and given these got a reprint ... well, I doubt they'll hold much value in the years to come (in fact, it seems like they've come down quite a bit).

I picked up a few more recently (Ar Tonelico 1 (sealed) and 2 (premium pak), and Shadow of Rome). I think I'm done ;-)

I have about 80 PS2 games but I still need 2 until my collection is complete.
I need ICO so hopefully it comes out rebundled for the PS3
and I need Resident Evil: Dead Aim to finish off my RE collection :)

Games I want:

Suikoden 5
Shadow of the Collosus (played it, don't own it)
God Hand
Viewtiful Joe - either
Yakuza 1+2

I think my collection of ps2 games is around 30 games...but with the rate I'm going with ps3 games, I'll probably eclipse that mark with ps3 games soon.

Sadly enough, I like DDS and Nocturne WAY more than the Persona games, I can't tolerate the randomly generated dungeons and all the running around in those non-descript lairs gets boring really fast. I like set levels, like in those other two games, and honestly I like the stories better as well (even though DDS2 jumped the shark a bit, but whatta gonna do)

Still I personally would recommend them if you like something that is not as "cotton candy-ish" as the Persona games, the strict ordered, by-the-numbers day schedule got irritating to me by the end of P3, I never even bothered to go through it again, play through FES or start up P4 (it's only been played once, and that was by my nephew when it came out) I dread the dungeon crawling that much.

On another note I'll post my list when I get it updated (which was about 2 years ago, I got a whole bunch of new games in the last few years)

My library list:

MGS2
MGS3 - Subsistence and Regular (I've played the first as well, I bought the remake after)
GTA - III, VC, SA
Kingdom Hearts
FF XII
Gran Turismo 3 and 4
NBA 2K6
Resident Evil 4
Tekken 5 and Tekken Tag
Devil May Cry
NBA Street
Dark Cloud and Dark Cloud 2

I want....

Fatal Frame II: Crimson Butterfly
Fatal Frame III: The Tormented
Silent Hill 3
Silent Hill 4: The Room
Twisted Metal Black

I'm considering the Sly Cooper series. I don't know yet. I'll buy one installment cheap. If I enjoy it, I'll go for the rest.
The Sly Cooper series is solid; that's about all I'll say. It does have a uniquely visual style and the gameplay is dynamic but in no way is any of it earth-shattering. If you enjoy platformers, these games are probably the next best trilogy to Jak. I consider R&C the best franchise games on the PS2; there is far less action in Sly (it's more about sneaking around ala MGS-light)

Only thing missing is fatal frame 3 and Ill be happy with my ps2 collection. Id list them but Im around the 150's I would say.

There are some imports form the WRC series I would like to get, although theyre not real essential. For US releases, I think the only game Im missing is the Lupin game, Treasure of the Sorcerer King, and Gadget Racers.

This pic is a little outdated so it is missing a few games thats ive picked up off ebay or goozex. My goal is to collect every PS2 RPG.

(Not Shown: Devil Summoner 2 Deluxe, Mana Khemia 2 Premium x2)

I want to play every PS2 RPG, but I don't have the time. They just make the backlog grow more and more! I have 15 of them in backlog including Devil Summoner 2, Dark Cloud 2, Wild Arms 3, Dawn of Mana...the list goes on and on.

Updated my collection:

Picked up the last 5 games I really wanted -- all new (Ar Tonelico, Ar Tonelico 2 CE, Indiana Jones & the Staff of Kings, KoF Ultimate Match, and Zone of the Enders 2)

That pretty much finishes off my collection ;-)

Only one that sort of calls me is Shinobi but only b/c I have Nightshade and I'm a sucker for ninja games :p -- wouldn't pay more than $3 for it ... and I'm fine without it.

Huge PS2 collecter, own around 750 PS2 games and still looking for more games to the collection, currently working on getting every platformer for the console!.

I just recently started my PS2 collection. I have had about 3 Fat PS2 and 2 Slim PS2. I remember paying $400 when the PS2 was first released and my first game was Winback.

I just got a sealed copy of Killzone and I was wondering should I open it? Or get another used copy to play?

More of a collector these days.
80% are sealed, all black label. Multiple copies of many.
I just recently started my PS2 collection. I have had about 3 Fat PS2 and 2 Slim PS2. I remember paying $400 when the PS2 was first released and my first game was Winback.

You can open it as it's really not that hard to find a shrinkwrapped copy of Killzone, myself keep my original black label one in wrap and bought a greatest hits copy and played thru that one. Hope that helps, btw it's a pretty fun FPS also.

I have over 200 PS2 games. Probably closer to 250 but I havent updated my spreadsheet or organized my games in a while.

I'm pretty much done collecting for the system. I may get Sakura Wars when it comes out.

I have pretty much all the rare, valuable, and sought after games. And I have alot of games sealed. I'm not 'sealed' game collector, I just dont open a game until I play it, and I'll probably never get to these games.

There are a handful of games I'd still like to pickup, like Ghost in the Shell, and Inuyahsa, but I'm not actively looking for them.

Yeah, I have to admit I'm done for the PS2. I'd like to say I'm done buying games in general, but now I find myself buying a 360 or Wii game here and there (not a lot, but a few) -- even though I don't have the systems. I know I will buy these two eventually, though. I've always been a big fan of Nintendo; the Wii is the first Ninty console I haven't bought at launch -- in large part because the games haven't quite caught my interest. I think by December, though, there'll be enough titles on it I want to justify picking it up. I'm also hoping it will have dropped to $149 by then. Frankly, $199, IMHO, is a rip-off given what most of us gamers know about the tech running inside the Wii.

As for the 360, I admit I've always preferred the PlayStation brand, but the PS3 hasn't really done much this generation. Sure, there are exclusives -- the Ratchet games, Uncharted, GoW3 -- but I have to say none of these make me want a PS3 over a 360. Frankly, I like the 360's price point (which I suspect will be closer to $149 by the holidays, too), and while the PS3 has a blu-ray player, it's really no different than picking up a blu-ray player separately. As I don't game online and have no interest in the digital downloads, I'll probably just pick up the Xbox Arcade system.

I've got about 9 titles for the 360 (my Halo 3 Legendary Edition is sitting nice and pretty as is Tales of Vesperia). Hoping to pick up these two consoles and a few games after the bar :)
After trading some games in at gamestop, I finally picked up Persona 4. So there are only a few games that I need to pick up to complete my collection.

This is what I have so far:
http://club.ign.com/b/list/custom?&lid=100045&objt=1&grp1=20152&owner=KevNg95
Hope you like P4 -- I never finished it (I never play through my games much -- I tend to buy to collect or because I think I'll "free time" later to play them -- haha).

Had to pick up one more PS2 title, and I suspect this will be my last. Grabbed a sealed copy of Transformers (the good one by Atari) from eBay -- been meaning to get that one for a while now and was happy to nab it off eBay for less then $10, sealed.

I want to get the final PS2 game whenever it makes it out. Madden '11 is the current "final" game listed at Gamestop but I wouldn't be too surprised to see another round of football games for 2012.

Trying to get RE Code Veronica X to be one step closer to completing my ongoing RE collection.
