Hi, I am MarkMan and I love arcade sticks.

I was inspired to create this thread because of the discussion going on in the Soul Calibur IV Hori Arcade Stick (PS3/360) deal thread.

Let us use this thread as a resource and a place where we can ask questions and get answers for all things arcade stick related!

Heh I tried to do that look originally when modding my T5 stick but alas one dremel slip later and nuts needed some artwork .
HOT DAMN!!!!, care to help a cag brother out and sell me one of those virtua sticks
sorry man i only have 2 left for my personal use. :(

The only sticks I have out at the moment are a HRAP2 SA, HRAP3 SA and a 360 SFIV TE, all are stock and probably staying that way forever. Someday I'd like to mod my regular HRAP2 with Seimitsu parts.

The most interesting sticks that I have are probably the PS2 Neo Geo sticks. I have the Garou one, the one that came with KOF 95-97, a regular black one, and that crazy red Mai one. I'm pissed that I missed out on getting one of the Wii Neo Geo sticks.
i like to dualmod sticks
This guy is no joke! Great email communication and he managed to meet all my unreasonably specific needs for a stick!
360 TE is the only one that can be dual-modded right?
Both can be, it's just easier for the 360 one.

Old pics of old times.

I won't even try to take a pic of my collection, I don't wanna move that many boxes.

I'm currently at 137 arcade sticks.

Filling out that Pokedex!

I know I asked this question before but since it has been a while , and the fact that I have both the 360 and PS3 now , and the fact that I never followed through with the info the first time (whew) , I'm going to ask again.

What would the best out of the box fight sticks be for both the PS3 and the 360?

I have a 360 Madcatz TE stick no mods to it. Though no more 360 console. Selling or trading as my sig notes.

Hey Rmb, how about you send me the 360 TE stick and I install a Playstation 3 PCB in it (making it into a PS3-only stick) and send it back to you? I could use the 360 PCB, so I'd do the job for free.

If so I'd do it in a heartbeat most likely.

I won't be using the stick for fighting games. Mostly just old school arcade games. That being said, in reading up on this I believe a plus gate would be best. Correct? I just want the stick to play the old school stuff without problems. Any other choices and reasons why?

If I could get a fighting stick 3 with the right setup plus cash in my pocket I'd seriously consider making that type of trade. Currently considering this option with another Cag right now.

Eastx- send me a pm in regards to the pcb

My Hori FS3 just suddenly stopped working while I was playing SF4 last night >.> It isn't getting any power at all from either PS3 or PC. Anyone know a way I can check if it's the USB cable or my PCB is fried?

I've got a Hori Fight Stick 3 coming in the mail some time this week. Since purchasing it, I think I may have been bitten by the arcade stick bug. I'm now thinking of picking up a Mayflash arcade stick to try my hand at modding and tweaking. Is that a good stick to tinker with? Should I dick around with the Hori stick at all?

You want an easy stick to mod? Get the MadCatz SE stick, easiest stick to mod that I've seen so far. Don't dick around with the Hori just yet unless you're ok with soldering and all that good stuff. ;)

That's a beautiful looking stick. But is a $150 stick really worth modding though? At that price, you'd think it would be perfect! But, I mean, $20ish for a cheap little stick that (according to google) is easy enough to mod/learn to solder/all the other fun stuff that comes with learning to mod a stick. And if I screw up big, it's no biggie. Unless I'm missing the point?

You're a little confused, the stick you are talking about is the TE at $150, this is the SE http://www.amazon.com/Sony-Street-F..._3?ie=UTF8&s=videogames&qid=1258338550&sr=8-3 . I don't quite understand though how modding the Mayflash versus the Hori Fight Stick 3 makes a huge difference seeing as how both are cheap sticks and both require soldering and dremel work to do anything with. So you might as well mod what you have coming in the mail first.

Oh I'm totally confused with the whole process. But I figure the Hori is better quality than the Mayflash, so I figure ripping open the Mayflash wouldn't make me feel like an idiot if I mess up. I mean, I grabbed the Hori off of eBay for $13 and the Mayflash for $20. And my ultimate worst case scenario is that I do no modding and have two arcade sticks.

The odds of you messing up on the Hori are really small, pineconeattack has up a great guide on how to modify that stick as well as the Shoryuken thread I linked. I just don't see the point of buying a Mayflash to practice on too when you haven't destroyed the first one yet

That's an incredible point... :whistle2:k the thing is though, I do want two sticks. And to to me, the Hori is appealing to me aesthetically and is supposedly a good stick for a casual fighting gamer. The Mayflash is really just a cheap experiment that if I decide against the modding, I can let guests/friends use and am still at less than the cost of the Hori stick from a retailer.

Long story short though, I jumped the gun on this. And my ultimate worst case scenario is that I'll have sticks laying around that could be useful to someone here or on eBay I guess. Either way though, I'm not feeling like an idiot just yet.

I'm bored and just want to put in my 2 cents on the T6 wireless bundle for PS3. I managed to snag the T6 Bundle deal on amazon and brought it down to $16 after everything. So I receive it today and open it to find T6 for PS3 doesn't have the slip cover in the bundle, that was a bad sign right there. The artbook however is very nice. Anyway, onto the stick itself.

Before even plugging it in I decided to get the feel for it, the stick itself feels like it's grinding on something inside. When trying to do diagonals it feels like there's some tissue stuffed inside it. The dead zone on it is bigger than my T5 straight out of the box. The buttons feel terrible as well and take more force than the TE or T5. The PS3 version requires a wireless dongle, way to go above and beyond namco!

Now for actual game testing, I used SFIV as my test game. I decided to hop into training to do one of the easiest BnBs in the game, Ryu's SRK -> FADC -> Ultra. It failed the first few times due to the terrible diagonals but eventually I manage to get the feel for it on the stick. So I go and try my favorite test, viper's jab -> SJC -> Ultra. It worked in two tries, not bad, doesn't seem to drop any inputs and I haven't noticed any lag.

Now, after playing SFIV with it for a while, the impressions after playing it for a while aren't any different. The stick itself still sucks and despite having a huge dead zone feels like it takes a lot of force to register inputs and feels like something's stuffed inside between the switches when doing diagonals. The buttons require a lot more force to register inputs, even for hori buttons. The entire thing is light which means it moves around a lot in your lap and the plastic feels very cheap. If you bought this bundle at retail, I'm truly sorry. I wouldn't recommend this stick to anybody, not even a first time stick player. Stay the fuck away from this stick.

P.S. English is not my major

tl;dr - The stick fucking sucks, don't buy it, not even for $16.
$16 is still way better than $150. So don't feel too bad. ;)
If I paid $150, I'd of tried to weasel my way into getting my money back by saying the game itself is still sealed and hoping some employee would sympathize.

Isn't they stick just to damn small? From some of the pics someone posted awhile ago it looked way to damn small for me ( base wise ). Oh well at least you have other sticks to play on Dis Im sure you can sell the damn thing for like 50-60.
I never understood why the PS3 T6 bundle was the only one that came without a slipcover on the game itself
I never understood why the stick came with a dongle either, Sony's letting third parties license their shit, they did so long before this came out. You should of given us bluetooth namco/hori! The ability to turn the PS3 on with it would be nice too. Bestbuy's rocketfish PS3 controller has bluetooth and can turn on the PS3, why can't you do the same for you sticks namco/hori?!
Can the T6 stick compatible with other PS3 fighting games, and can it be used to play the PS2 fighters?
It's just a controller, the stick would work with any PS3 games. However PS2 games, I'll check real quick ... it does not. The light on the dongle doesn't even light up.

EDIT: Works on the PC though, plug n' play, nice.

EDIT #2: Ahaha, PC SFIV recognizes it as "WIRELESS FIGHTING STICK 3." I got a laugh out of it, lol.

The wireless stick in T6 basically is a Hori Fighting Stick 3 with wireless functionality and they changed the lay out of the buttons a bit for Tekken. It even has the very same PCB (for the buttons), buttons, and joystick lol.

I just want to let you know. While the MayFlash stick is cheap and all, its case looks cheap as hell lol. If you don't mind then yes that would be the best option to start stick modding since you can find one of these sucker for pretty cheap. Why not mod your FS3? It only bad when you have to desolder the PCB from the buttons but after that you can use quick disconect cables. If you don't trust your soldering skill practice it on an old PCB board from broken electronic first. Good luck.
