The Losers - very underrated with a fun cast
Gamer - like surrogates with a better cast (still sucked though)

In the past few days, I've been catching up on some Criterion's that I bought blind.

Revanche
Wings of Desire

Both are great movies, but WoD started out excruciatingly slow. I recommend them both, but only if you can handle subtitles.

I'm going to let you in on a little secret. Every day, once a day, give yourself a present. Don't plan it. Don't wait for it. Just let it happen. It could be a new shirt at the men's store, a catnap in your office chair, or two cups of good, hot black coffee.

Catfish was not at ALL what I was expecting. I couldn't be more conflicted about what that movie was, but I do know that I thought it was very well done and is, quite frankly, a must-see for anyone who uses social media. Which is everybody.

Keeping in pattern with the fact that I've watched a movie every night this week, since this will be the first night I probably don't, last night I watched Frozen and was SCARED STIFF (guffaw guffaw, raucous laughter). Seriously, though. It was a really tense flick and I was into it.

Magnum Force. The 2nd Dirty Harry movie. It was decent, would rate it about the same as the first.

Since last post:

A Fish Called Wanda
The Marriage of Maria Braun
Sleepers
P2
Veronika Voss
Raising Arizona
The Dark Knight
The Dead Next Door

By four o'clock I've discounted suicide in favor of killing everyone else in the entire world instead.

watched scott pilgrim today on a whim and was really surprised that it was a fun and good movie. i especially liked the music in the flick especially that threshold song and in a minor miracle that kid from arrested developement wasnt completly annoying. now i need to read the comics to see how accurate the film was.

White Zombie
The Brain That Wouldn't Die

The first one was very similar to Dracula, especially with the knuckle thing and the sets.

That second one, hosted by Elvira, was freakin' long for 1.5hrs. and needed more freakin' cat fights.

The Social Network- that Eisenberg kid from Zombieland could win an Oscar. The only issue is I dont know how close to reality his portrayal of Zuckerberg is. He played like a college-aged Greg House, which was fun to watch. The next Spider-man, Andrew G showed promise as well. Best flick I've seen in a minute.

Wall Street Money Never Sleeps- money may not snooze, but I did. Oh well.

i read somewhere that jt has been trying hard to get oscar consideration for his role in that film.

Creepshow - Absolutely awesome, I hate that it's taken me so long to watch this, especially as a huge Stephen King nerd. "Meteor shit!" Definitely need to make a point of watching the sequel too, if only to see the adaption of The Raft.

Timberlake was good, but not enough to warrant an Oscar. Its too easy to play the grifter/showboat. The main was much more understated and disgustingly likable.

Predators - Nothing amazing, but a fun watch.

Monsters - Here is one you might not have heard of. It's kind of a gigantic monster movie, but most of the time it is not focused on the monsters/aliens. The movie follows a photographer and his bosses daughter as they try to cross the "infected" part of Mexico (where all the monsters are) into America. Obviously, this is not an easy stroll. Still, they tend to focus more on the characters and their evolving relationship. Really, love stories are so much better when gigantic man eating squids are in the background. I recommend a watch.

"The universe has a wonderful sense of humor. The trick is learning how to take a joke."

The Enforcer. The 3rd Dirty Harry movie. Step down from the first 2, but still reasonably enjoyable.

Also watched The Nightmare Before Christmas on Sunday night. Great as always.
