So I chose hard difficulty and I'm having a little trouble with the combat (I dislike having to start over from a load when dying). Anyone have tips for killing the enemies using the piece of wood?

I swing but the character tends to move from swinging and then misses them, and when I press sidestep he doesn't do it right and also ends up missing.

I don't know if I should start over on normal or not because I think I am close to getting the gun.

Evade combat when not absolutely not necessary.

Combat tips, not sure if you're doing it though. Strafe around the monster while you're striking with the wood plank. Most monster attacks will not hit you that way.

I made it to the gun and doing okay now despite using two of my big health pickups at the same time due to bad interface! I do avoid fights, but not enough.

If you want to fight you probably should've played no normal. They give you way too much ammo.

Hard is typically for the Silent Hill freak that has memorized the corridors and just zips past all of the monsters.

It's not too bad now, I'm at the gas station and I've got a nice supply of both meds thanks to avoiding lots of fights.

Silent Hill 2 - The game that disturbed me so much that I returned it to GS after beating it.

Dead Space is trying to replace it as the most fucked up game I ever played through. If I can actually finish Dead Space. It is oppressive.

It's weird playing it now for the first time. I'm always wondering is the acting supposed to be THIS weird and bad or is that intentional, where does it fit between the 2 extremes lol. It's a decent game but playing it now it is quite archaic and has many frustrating elements. I was hoping for a bigger leap over the first SH but in many ways it feels like an expansion pack with nice graphics. It is disturbing but some of that has not aged well.
