A little more than a week till Christmas, time for a thread dedicated to the best Christmas movie there is:

Die%20Hard.jpg

Just got done with a marathon of the series. It isn't the holidays without a viewing of Die Hard.

I can't go through a Christmas week without watching National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation atleast once. Family tradition :)

scrooged
bill murray as scrooge.
the ghost of christmas future was scary as hell growing up.
this all the way through in one sitting

christmas story, piece-mail over the course of christmas/christmas eve. catching a scene here and there.

"fa ra ra ra ra" :)

also a newer one elf.

saw prep and landing by disney this year and it was actually enjoyable too.
most new christmas movies blow, esp made for tv ones.

I like Elf, I watch that every year now. Nothing else is too important, but I usually end up watching Christmas Vacation, or at least part of it, and The Santa Clause (only the original...the others really suck).

I had never really watched A Christmas Story in its entirety until this year and really...it's alright, nothing special.

I was tasked with bringing in a XMas movie for the last day of high school before XMas break -- I brought in two: Die Hard and Die Hard 2. My English professor told me he expected some 'claymation crap -- not this'.

A Christmas Story. It's a family tradition to watch it at my great-aunt's Xmas Eve party. Of course I hardly go to it anymore since I live out of New England, but I plan on maybe catching it this year on the TV anyway. It's a Wonderful Life was also good, watched in high school economics years and years ago. That class rocked, we also watched The Simpsons, The Wonder Years, Roger and Me, and Supersize Me.

Must watch Bad Santa...

Bad Santa: So whadaya want?
Kid: Fragle Stick Car
Bad Santa: What?
Kid: Fragle Stick Car
Bad Santa: What the F*** is that?
Kid: ...
Bad Santa: Get the F*** out of here!

Can't believe Bernie Mac is dead, dude was so young... can anyone else vouch for this movie? Haven't seen it.

Did he say that in an upset, or excited manner?

Awesome either way.

besides Bad Santa my other favorite Christmas movie to watch is Reindeer Games with Affleck and Gary Sinese.. not only does Charlize Theron get naked in it a couple of times, but Santa Clause's rob an indian casino lol.

I forgot bad santa, that movie is excellent. I've only seen it once or twice though, let's see if I can make it a tradition.

Not movies, but the Charlie Brown Christmas and He-Man/She-Ra Christmas Special have been viewed every year on the 24th or 25th for many years now. The former holds up fairly well, the latter, not so much. But it still holds my interest for the surreal moments where Orko tells kids about Jesus and Skeletor turns good temporarily. I'll usually try to get in a few Simpsons X-mas episodes as well.

As far as movies:

Been viewing it as a tradition for 4-5 years now, it will continue for the forseeable future.

Never saw the appeal of A Christmas Story. I'll usually watch pieces of it here and then when TBS runs it all day, though.

I watched Gremlins again for the first time since I was a kid a couple months ago... it wasn't that great of a movie imo. It was fun to rewatch it again though, it'd been a long time.

Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas

A Jim Henson thing with muppets and all. It holds a special place in my heart big time!

Also - loved Bad Santa . Saw it at the theater. Haven't seen it in a couple years - may have to add it to the queue.

Saw it in the theaters. Was hilariously dumb.

I just watched A Muppet's Christmas Carol this week for the first time in a decade. I love that movie, I will try to watch it every year at Christmas from now on. Some others I like are:

A Charlie Brown Christmas
Garfield's Christmas Special (how has no one mentioned this?)
The Grinch who stole Christmas ( how the HELL has no one mentioned this)
National Lampoons Christmas Vacation (probably my favorite of them all)
Rudolph the Red Nosed Reindeer (once again no one? lol)
Bad Santa
Home Alone (C'MON PEOPLE WHAT A CLASSIC!!!)

I watched Die Hard. I'm starting that as a Christmas tradition. I totally forgot about Lethal Weapon. I kept telling everyone that Die Hard is the perfect Christmas movie.
