Deals for Gundam Models and Kits?

yeah I'm looking for gundam kits specifically.
especially the most recently released models.

I've looked at the gundamstoreandmore. they don't have the kit i want yet!! sob*
i have some asian stores nearby but prices are pretty expensive, so was hoping to find some sites with cheap prices here.

hlj looks good, curious about how much the shipping would be... too bad all the ones im looking for are backordered....

Thanks for the suggestions everyone. Anymore? =)

I can vouch for Gundam Store And More. They have very good prices, though shipping makes the price go off the roof. Their deals of the week are generally good though.

Another place you can use is Hobby Wave. They have faster shipping, though it's at a flat rate at $10 regardless of weight or size.

Nice to know there are other people on the forum who are into Gunpla. :D

There's also this site. http://www.hobbywave.com/

I believe they charge a flat $10 shipping no matter how large your order so it could be a good deal if you want to place a large order. If you are looking for the new kits like Unicorn, I think they are already out of stock.

http://www.amiami.com, http://www.otacute.com, http://www.angolz.com and http://www.1999.co.jp/eng/ ( as well as the aforementioned HLJ) are my go-to places when I'm looking for Japanese toys, and they all seem (to my untrained eyes) to have a decent selection of Gundam models. I recently ordered from http://toy-wave.com/eng/product.php?table=88 and was pretty pleased, and they appear to have a lot of Gundam models.

I don't know how any of them are price-wise on models, since I don't buy Gundam stuff. In any case, there's some more options for you.

If we were talking just every day price, then rainbow ten got both hlj.com and 1999.co.jp beat. They always sell them around 15 to 20 % off the Japanese retail price. The only problem is their inventory list change everyday.

1999.co.jp usually price around 5% off retail, but will have more model kits in stock.

HLJ usually sale at regular price, but the clearance promotion are not too bad. This is the current clearance listing for gundam stuff.
http://www.hlj.com/scripts/hljsalep...aker2=All&DisplayMode=images&randstr=xpovrurb

btw, all 3 are based in Japan. So shipping will be expansive unless you pick SAL.

Sadly it looks like quite a few of these sites have shut down in the last couple of years. Anyone have any new suggestions for deals on Gundam model kits? I'm getting back into the hobby after buying a bunch at Software, etc. as a kid, but damn they're expensive in the US.

Gundamplanet.com gundaminifinite.com are some sites that are still going strong.

I know some stores in Southern California that sell authentic Japanese imported gundam model kits. Are you looking for Gundam specifically?
I live in Southern California. Which stores are you referring to? It's been a while since I've built a Gundam, that sounds pretty fun right about now...

Surprised nobody has mentioned R4L.

Prices are pretty good. They have sales pretty often. If you subscribe to their facebook page they post whenever there is a sale.

Also I suggest r/gunpla on reddit. When people find deals they usually post about them.

I've used hobbywave.com recently.  They seem to be the best priced overall IMO for buying from a place in the US.

I've been a big fan of http://www.gundamstoreandmore.com for quite a few years.  They also offer a Gundam Club that they've recently started that seems pretty awesome.

Additionally if you're in the Ann Arbor, MI area you can visit their warehouse and they give you a discounted price too.  It's so awesome just wandering through a warehouse full of model kits.  Seeing cases of PG and MG models is just mind numbing.  It's almost a bad thing because it makes it so hard to not try to walk out with way too much stuff.

If I may  suggest...you should try buying locally. I've found so many great deals on Craigslist, and I bet you could too.

Conventions are great too.

Went to an anime convention when I was a kid (back in 2003) and there was a vendor selling authentic kits from $3 to $100. Ended up getting about 20 kits and building them all in my hotel room.

Kinda makes me wanna get back into it

Ah, the good ol' days...

Makes me wanna build one too. I actually have a box of some I've never opened. Buying new ones is more fun though.

Only suckers say this ^

conventions charge you msrp for those figures. i remember when i went to the anime expo out here in la few years back, this one dealer was charging me $30 for this epiyon (?) (the red one in wing). I saw that same figure two months later at a anime shop for $12.

Granted, Otakon is the only convention I go to, but the main seller of Gundam models there is Bluefin, who charges more or less the same as their website (though rounded).

I am assuming the $30 kit was for the 1/100 scale? Because even Toys R Us was carrying Wing kits back in the day, and were usually $25-$30 for the 1/100 and about $7-$8 for the 1/144 kits.

More than likely, that $12 kit was on clearence, as Bandai changed their modeling process into the now familiar Master Grade (1/100) and High Grade (1/144). Typical HG kits are $18-$25, with the more elaborate kits costing $35 or so. MG kits usually start around $35 or so and can get has high as $55/$60 depending on how elaborate the kit is and what pack-ins are included. Real Grade kits are almost all $35. Perfect Grade and other such offshoots are typically $145-$200.

Yeah, the thing is that the figure i saw was this one:

http://www.amazon.com/Gundam-Wing-Epyon-Scale-Model/dp/B003PRWCWO

And it was 2008 at the time, and dude was selling that basic kit for $30. It was freaking ridiculous to pay that amount of money for that kit,

Plenty of (non-Limited/Special edition) MG kits are well over $60, and they have HG models that are 1/100 I believe.

I wish I could go to the store and browse models like I could at TRU when Gundam Wing was on TV, as it involved a lot less anticipation lol.
