Just so you know Cheapy, your food poisoning could have been caused by food you had eaten up to 3 days prior.

Being hyped for a game doesn't always end up with you being disappointed. The last time I was super-hyped for a game was for Batman: Arkham Asylum and it easily met all my expectations.

And one thing that can ruin Mass Effect 2...a horrible story. The combat just isn't good enough to make the game, but the story can easily make or break the game.

Nice! A Tuesday with the CAGcast and the Bombcast = fantastic. About 40 minutes in, great episode so far.

I am in living in China and had the same problem when watching Avatar. I couldnt understand anything the blue monkeys were saying because the subtitles were in chinese. I must say the blue tits were pretty disappointing.

I have a question though. Here in China if you want American/ foreign food we go to a store called Jenny Lou's that stocks imported products from the west. If you want to get foreign food what do you do?

Good show guys, Cheapy i'd recommend buying a big fullHD TV now that they are so damn cheap and have it for a couple of years until LED-technology is cheap(er) and up to snuff, upgrade to a LED-TV maybe 2015.

Well, I think that cements the "Pants on the ground" meme.

Uh oh, Wombat is gonna be on Maury one day...

The reason you need a new TV for the bedroom: Hi-Def Porn.

Last Gen ESPN NFL 2k5 was $25 brand new. Worth every penny. I don't buy new games much anymore, as I often don't have $60 worth of interest in almost ANYTHING that comes out. Get it down to $40, and I start paying attention.

The organic web shooters takes away from Peter Parker as a person. If you remember the old Ditko stories, Spiderman was always figuring out how to defeat an enemy; grounding himself against electro, figuring out another web-formulation for Vibro, the vacuum for Sandman, etc. If Spiderman gets the web shooters organically, then what is Peter inventing? Stupidest moment in the films happened early on when he tried to stop the elevated train by webbing himself to the front. There is no Peter Parker in the movies, it's all a fan jerk-off of "Spiderman iz teh koolz!!!!!1!!1!". Next film, more Peter, less Spiderman.

Loved the intro this morning.

Cheapy and Wombat, I've been playing AOT TFD for a couple days now and the first one was much better IMO. The load times on this game suck even when installed (360) , My friend and I go into party mode to talk while playing, and one of us will be either randomly dropped from the game OR the game crashes my system all together (I have LE RED RE5 360).

If you played AOT #1 certain weapons are supposed to unlock. I got the message at the beginning of the game but the weapons that were supposed to unlock did not . SHITTY GLITCH!

If you load up a game , go in to your weapons and buy/modify new guns and die before you get to a check point, you have to do all your modifications all over again. VERY ANNOYING.

Unskippable cut scenes. WTF AINT THIS 2010?

game could have been so much better.

Since you're okay with 'buy it new or pay for it' DLC Cheapy, what is your stance on 'pre-order it or you're never getting it, even for pay' DLC?

This was a good podcast Wombat that spiderman game on Ps1 is good I have it, had it since 2001. I bought it the same day Bayside released thier first Album, both from circuit city. Good spider man game, good album, and good podcast. Long live the sony buttplug and the microbox shitbox

I'm with ya on Starflight, Cheapy, I played the crap out of the Genesis version and that's all I could think of when exploring planets in Mass Effect.

ELITE was another classic of that type...

Looking forward to Mass Effect 2 :)

Thanks for another fun show, helped make my heavy-traffic commute more bearable.

Hahaha, I love the whole thing with Wombat and Army of Two and the "accidental" disconnecting of his internet after that horrible incident! Hahaha. And then he doesn't come back for a few days, haha, Wombat really did not want that man to die.

I've been on a diet, but I haven't been seeing fast enough results. I think that I'm going to adopt Cheapy D's methods. Hotdogs for breakfast? Popcorn and fried pork cutlet sandwiches for brunch?!? Sushi and Cold Stone Creamery to finish off the day?!

BEST DIET EVER!

I'm gonna be soo sessy for bikini season.

HELL YES! Cheapy/Wombat, Mass Effect 2 is gonna rule. I can't wait either. I have the CE preordered. Once again, if you guys wanna play some coop games (like MW2) feel free to send me an invite. :)

btw, hope Shippy feels better soon.

I wasn't even going to comment on you not knowing anything about Glory of Heracles until you mentioned it so here it goes...
"I can't believe you call yourself gamers and don't know all about the upcoming RPGs for the DS. It's not like there are that many, so you should know about all of them. Way to let your fans down... again."

OK, now that's over with, I manage an RPG site and few of my staffer know anything about the game. It's OK guys, I forgive you. Seriously, there are enough DS RPGs out there to build a house or two with.

haven't listened to the show yet but will do tomorrow.

cheapy i registered just to say this; i've really lost interest in the show since you brought shipwreck onboard. i mean i like shipwreck but his presence really changes the dynamic that you and wombat have which was what first attracted me to the show. i used to listen to the show as soon as it was released but i haven't even listened to last weeks show yet. looking forward to this episode though :)

anyway, i'm 34, married with 2 young kids and i really relate to you and wombats stories as new parents. cheapy i remember you saying you still felt like a 16 year old idiot. dude it's the same for me - i always feel like i'm in over my head :) anyway good luck to both you guys :)

get well soon shipwreck - i don't mean to bash you, it's just i was drawn to the cagcast because of the dynamic between cheapy and wombat and with you onboard it's a totally different show for me.

keep up the good work guys! looking forward to listening to the show :)

I have a question that wombat can ask the producers of Mass effect. When is the PS3 version going to come out since they are 3rd party and MS is no longer the publisher. I ask because of the Xbox being hardware junk I no longer buy anything for the 360, that's not to say I won't rent it, but for EA and Bioware to get my money it has to come to the PS3.

Hey Cheapy,

This is just a guess, but if your IM and Skype are running fine, but you're having problems with the web, it might be that your ISPs DNS server is bogged down with traffic. Try changing your DNS server in your router to one of the OpenDNS servers. http://www.opendns.com/ This might help speed up your browsing.

This is obviously just a guess, though. I can't tell anything definitive with just a few blurps from a Podcast. :p

Hey Cheapy, I've got back Womby up when it comes to making those moral choices in games (referring to your Army of Two debacle). I probably would've freaked out on you as well when you got that innocent security dude killed (even though it sounded hilarious).

Even though I am fully aware it's just a game and that those decisions matter for little else then achievements my moral compass always leads me to take the high road. It sounded liked Wombat was a little embarrassed by the way he reacted and tired to brush it off when you confronted him, but STAND PROUD WOMBAT! There are dozens of us, DOZENS OF US!!!!

Even when it comes down to achivement hunting I have a difficult time being a dick in games. I had to really focus when I was trying to get the asshole achievement in the original Mass Effect, and immediately after I got it I shut my game off without saving.

I guess I shouldn't be surprised that this doesn't make sense to you though Cheapy, after all, how many 'asshole of the year' awards do you currently have on your shelf?

great show as usual.

im going to say something i never thought id say in my life..........i agree with wombat. ultimate spiderman is a good series to do a spiderman reboot off of and yes itd be better if he had webshooters instead of organic webshooters ( considering someone in the series already has those).

part of what makes the ultimate series great is the realistic way they deal with him juggling his life, relatioships and superhero duties and itd be cool to see that series brough to life ( especially with a younger hott aunt may).

and the green goblin in the last series of films was damn cheesy he should have looked more like the classic one not completly but in a slightly altered updated form but the mask needed to the same and move realistically. also you needed to have the goblin weapons ( pumpkin bombs, finger zapers, throwing blades).

if they do well with it they could easily use the new siderman flicks to reboot some of the other series into ultimate forms( ultimate xmen for one) while still keeping the successful franchises like Iron man going .

but you were wrong about spiderman games not needing to be openworld its just how you use the open world environment. you need to have destructible environments as well as a kind of cause and effect system where damamge you do or allow to be done could hurt or help you in later missions. add to that having to divide your time being spiderman/ peter parker and the game could be alot more. like how in some sandbox games you can choose to do a mission or not.

Since you guys sometimes take tv recommendations and since you're on sci-fi/space kick, I'd recommend Stargate Universe. You dont need to know about any previous star gate shows to enjoy it. So there. I think there was like 10 episodes and its on break right now.

Cheapy - as someone else stated your illness probably came from something you at several days ago. There are a few bacterial toxins that will hit you quicker, but I doubt that's what you had based upon what you ate. Not saying you didn't have an FBI, but you have to look back a little further.

The laws regarding foreign ownership in Japan are pretty strict from what I hear. That is why Red Lobster there is no longer affiliated with the "real" Red Lobster. Might be why some of the restaurants you mentioned are closing in Japan.

I was thinking Sony butt plug while you were going through your list and then you said the same thing. I was thinking "dammit that was my suggestion"...

Overall good show.

Great show as usual. A couple of things bugged me though:

1) Nintendo has been hyping The Glory of Heracles in all its channels--yeah, your sort of slack for not picking up on this.

2) English Fatal Frame for the Wii does not require a hack, a jailbreak, harddrive, whatever--its a patch you put on an SD card, and it modifies the game, like any game that allows you to play your own music with it. Its not a hack, and it uses any old SD card that you can use with a Wii for your gamesaves and does not require any Wii modification.

3) Please don't mention again you only get your news thru Howard Stern. It really does not reflect well on you. I got nothing against Stern, but getting your news thru Stern is like getting your news thru Limbaugh--its not kosher.

4) Maybe you still have some stomach trouble--you were way too mean with Wombat. We like you passionate Cheapy, but not hateful to one of your own. You picked on him for wanting to make a decision in Army of Two, when you certainly wanted to make your own decision--pot, meet kettle.

Good show guys.

It sounds like Wombat's diet is getting to him. The guy is about to snap and I wouldn't be surprised if another moral choice by Cheapy sends him completely over the edge. I couldn't stop laughing about that story, especially how Wombat conveniently got "disconnected" from Cheapy and didn't play the game with him all weekend. Wombat, you need to chill out. Go eat a fat ass cheeseburger with an extra large milkshake before you wind up on the 5 o'clock news.

Spider-Man for the PS1 was an awesome game, one of my favorites on the system. IMO the last good Spider-Man game was Spider-Man 2 (not a sequel to the PS1 game) on the PS2. I had a lot of fun with that one. Everything after that has been not up to snuff. Since they're restarting the movie franchise, they should do the same with the video games. All they need to do is take a few pages from Arkham Asylum and add their own flavor to it and it'll be great.

I'm in the same boat in regards to Bioshock 2. I loved the first one, but I'm not sure if number two is going to deliver. With so many games coming out, I might just wait a few months before picking it up, unless it gets amazing reviews. I'll definitely have to wait and see. I hope it turns out amazing, but right now I'm keeping my expectations low, like Pants on the Ground low.

Only about 45 minutes in, but I have some respect for Cheapy knowing about how an actual turntable works. I remember seeing him refer to himself as a bedroom DJ and seeing his setup in one of his videos.

Good show guys,

I just want to make a comment reference the Shitbox, and Sony COCKStation - The games for these new peripherals are already made. Games like Bloom blox that didn't do wellon the Wii can get a second life on PS3/360 due to the release of Shit box and "COCKStation". The goal is not to take over the Wii's market, but rather just to get a piece of it.

Cheapy, I was about to make an argument for the price discrepancy with Chinatown Wars when it comes to the iPhone, PSP & DS calling out the fact that perhaps it's due to digital distribution on the iPhone. Then I remembered the PSN sells the game for $40 as well, so scratch that theory...

I think both of you two need to come to terms with each of your pussification tendencies in gaming, etc. Most recently, cheapy taking wombat to task for getting all weepy about taking the low road in Army of Two (as well as cheapy gleefuly gunning down Russians in MW2). Yet on the other hand, cheapy gets all emotional from the dramatic ending of Flower, as well as misting up during Ferngully...I mean Avatar. I'm sure Shipwreck has his own area of vaginal affiliation (oh wait, a no-show for a bad case of the sniffles). Keep up the good work ladies, love the show.

Actually that's incorrect info regarding the amount of time something takes to fester in the digestive tract. Your immune system is made to react as quick as possible to any foreign material hence improve your survivability. Your digestive tract begins at the mouth and the taste sensation it can detect in minute amounts is bitterness, this is because things that are bad are usually bitter. Ask someone who is lactose intolerant how long it takes for their digestive tract to react, for those that don't know the digestive tract is one of the areas where there is a lot of blood flow. The more blood flow the quicker your body will react to foreign antigens. Not to mention the immune system specialized digestive tissue and MALT and GALT, but I won't go into details on those.

Another good Spidey game was the original Genesis Spiderman game. Taking pictures in that game to see how they would develop was almost as much fun as the side scrolling action. Taking better pictures gave better money, which allowed you to buy more webfluid. Skip taking pix and risk running out of webs. Great mechanic.

Organic webshooters in the movie ended up not being a big deal imo. It always bugged me a little that Peter Parker gained all the powers of a spider EXCEPT the ability to make webs.

Edit: And cast my vote as a "no" for live call in shows. Too much dead air and there is no one to screen dumb questions. If you're going to do them, take questions from a chat room.

A great show, Cheapy and Wombat's humour is really starting making me laugh uncontrollably. Listening to the cast I normally end up tears with laughter, just like Mrs Cheapy after D makes an attempt at pleasuring her. Great show guys, excuse the dry humour.

Regarding Avatar in 3D, dimness, and its propensity to cause nausea or headaches: There are (in the States, at least) four different 3D technologies being used to present Avatar:

RealD 3D Cinema: The most widely adopted 3D technology in U.S. cineplexes. Uses the "RayBan"-style polarized glasses.
Dolby 3D: One of the cheaper ways for a theater to project 3D, though perhaps unsurprisingly, considered to be lacking by comparison. Uses thin, washable glasses
XpanD: Uses "active" glasses with a microchip and infrared sensor that control rapid LCD shutters in the lenses in sync with timecodes in the projected film. Supposedly eliminates "ghosting" around objects and dimness problems that plague other 3D technologies, and can be used with weird screen sizes. Relatively new and obviously very expensive, so not in wide use.
IMAX 3D: IMAX uses their own proprietary 3D technology. This is the way I saw Avatar.

From what I've read, some people react badly to the different technologies, resulting in either a headache or nausea (but rarely both, strangely). So while you might do badly with one, another might work for you. Also, the dimness Cheapy complained about has to do with the polarized lenses and filters installed on the projector to enable the 3D. Basically, all the technologies work by sending alternating images to each eye, so at any moment in time, each eye is only seeing half the light compared to watching normal 2D projection. So that's why it seems darker.

As far as the Japanese staying for the credits, I know the Japanese are generally much more interested in film scores than Americans, so it's possible they're hanging around to listen to the music. Or it could just be a way of showing respect for the filmmakers.

I'm with you guys. Yes, it's just a game, but I can't just blow off the moral choices. Sometimes it's fun to be bad, but I'm not one of those gamers that revels in taking the darkest path available. That's not fun for me, and I usually only do so if there's a separate "dark side" campaign or achievements involved. Boring I know, but I am what I am.

I think in this instance, it was also a control issue. It would have been nice for Cheapy to at least confer with Wombat before making the choice. The game is called "Army of TWO" after all.

Cheapy's right about keeping TV out of the bedroom. When we moved into our current home four years ago, we decided to leave the television out of the boudoir. I fought it at first, but my wife was right. I sleep better, get laid more, and generally find it a more peaceful place.

Finally, as another CAG who had (and BEAT) cancer, best wishes to Terry. Kick its ass, my friend.

Pretty good show! It's tough to make a good videogame show when the releases right now completely suck.

Here are a couple of thoughts:

1. If the releases suck this bad ever again, how about throwing in a section to the show talking about any older games you might be playing, or maybe reflect on some older games that are CHEAP nowadays. Not just "cheap deals", it could be something that has been cheap for a while, but is worth picking up.

2. I like Shipwreck's insight on games (and I'd love to see a new Cag Forecast show), but I like the CagCast without Shipwreck. I just don't think it works as well having the three of you. Sorry :(

3. Cheapy - If your 720P Plasma looks great, just wait for a new TV. The prices drop SOOOO fast, you'll be kicking yourself in the ass for buying sooner than later. Trust me, it just happened to me.

4. Cheapy again - that old PC game you were talking about (I think you called it "Starfire" or something?)...are you talking about STAR CONTROL? You mentioned mining, talking to Aliens, etc - and that it came out on Genesis (Star Control II came out on Genesis). I played Star Control on the 3DO, and I believe it's the same game you are talking about.

You guys cracked me up with the talk about Shitbox and the "Arc"...that's what I love about the show. Good info, and good fun.

Keep it up!!
