I looked and didn't see a thread for this sale so here goes:

Play N Trade is currently running an in-store promotion where you buy 2 games and get 3 games (of equal or lesser value) free. This only applies to Xbox, PS2 and PS1 games. If you didn't know, Play N Trade is one of the few places you can find original Playstation games these days so if you have one near you and are feeling nostalgic, it will totally be worth the trip there to pick up some of those old titles that kept you up all night.

They are also running a similar in-store promotion on Genesis, Nintendo and Super Nintendo Carts. Buy 2, get 4 free.

Both of these deals could be YMMV but can't say for sure.

It is important to note that most of their older games are not complete (Disc only) but the store i went to resurfaces discs and they guarantee they will work or you get your money back.

I'll go this weekend, though I'm gonna wait til I get some results from people who have been. If it seems like quite a few have the deal, count me in. And am I reading it right? Is the sale basically "Get 5 games for the price of 2", or is it supposed to be a "Buy 2 get the Third free" thing?

I initially thought this one buy 2 get the third free, not buy 2, get 3 free! Holy smokes...looks like I'm going to load up on some ps2 games!

Thanks for the heads up. I try to support the local Play N Trade when possible since it's about the only place in my area that still carries older systems and games. Also, the people who run it are knowledgeable and have a real passion for gaming, which is a nice change.

I never knew this place existed. closes one to me is about an hour but buy 2 get 3 free is freaking nuts!! so the drive could very well be worth it
Thanks, I didn't even know a Play N Trade was nearby until this post made me look it up. I'll go check it out.
Same. :applause:
Yes it actually is buy 2 and get 3 free games. Here is my horrible scan/edit of my receipt:

Thumbs up for KoTOR - I should go grab those again.

I've only been to one of these stores but it was full of rare, but ebay priced, PS1 games...might have to bust out the wallet for this though.

These deals are normally YMMV. I have a play n trade in naperville, IL that has buy 2 ps3/360 games and get a 20 dollar game free..but its not at the other 2 play n trades 10-20 miles away from here. They are all independently owned.

The selection is usually worth a trip there though. This one had FFVII priced at around 40 bucks and Parasite eve was OOS but was prices around 20 bucks. Most of the common games were 5 bucks

As others have stated, PnT are franchised own so this deal is YMMV. If you do run across one, its definately an awesome deal to stock up on some older stuff. Unfortunately the ones closest to me have all closed so I'm SoL either way.

The one by me is Buy 1, get 1 50% off used for members only.
The only thing I found of interest was Hogan's Alley for NES.

This is a YMMV deal, since Play N' Trade is a franchise operation it's up to each individual store as to their participation in the deal.

Just called my PnT and they're doing buy 2 get 1 free on ps2, xbox, etc. Oh well...might still be worth checking out though.

Thanks OP for the heads up. A Play N Trade around here is not close (Conroe & Alief), so I'll have to call to see if they are doing it.

I've seen a sign for this place lately, but I had assumed it was a kind of one-off shop trying to just exist in a Gamestop dominated used game world.

Now that I've found several near me, I'm very interested to see what they carry.

Thank you OP! :D

How are the quality of their used games? Are we talking decent, or do they load the crap out with stickers on the covers and sell crappy, almost unplayable games; because this guy has some $$$ to burn tomorrow :)

arrrggghhhh, so sick of this question! The "quality" of their used games all depends on who trades them in. This question can never be answered because not every area is the same. Most PnT's have a disc buffer. Just do what normal people do and ask to see the disc before you purchase it.
