CAGiversary!
We're Baaaaaaaack!!!
Hello everybody! Welcome to the official home of the CheapAssGamer Fighting Championship! Brought to you by n8rockerasu! With the impending release of UFC Undisputed: 2010, it's only natural that we CAGs lock ourselves in the octagon and throw down! For all intents and purposes, this will be similar to any other online sports league you've been a part of. The difference is, this is man against man. No seasons. No schedules. No AI teammates. No one to blame but yourself.
WHAT IS CAGFC AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
CAGFC is short for Cheap Ass Gamer Fighting Championship. At its core, CAGFC is a league for the soon-to-be released Xbox 360 game UFC Undisputed: 2010. But we strive to exceed the limitations of a typical sports league. Rather than relying on team play or a points system, CAGFC will mimic a real world fighting organization. We use custom fighters that you create in the NON-CAREER portion of the game, and rely on a ranking system based on the fighter's CAGFC record and their overall rating. This allows us to schedule competitive weekly cards, making sure that the right fighters are matched up against each other. We have five weight divisions, which are as follows:
Heavyweight (over 205lbs - 265lbs)
Light Heavyweight (over 185lbs - 205lbs)
Middleweight (over 170lbs - 185lbs)
Welterweight (over 155lbs - 170lbs)
Lightweight (over 145lbs - 155lbs)
There is a champion in each division. This champion is required to defend his belt once a week or he will relinquish it and the top two contenders will battle for it (unless he notifies either CAGLeagueSports or n8rockerasu of the absence in advance, so that arrangements may be made). This system allows flexibility, not only for CAGFC, but for its members as well. If you want to take a break from scheduled matches so you can work on your fighter, you're free to do so at any time. Your absence might cause a slip in the rankings, but it doesn't hurt your online career or your standing with CAGFC. This is YOUR fighting career. It's up to you what you make of it.

Yes, we allow members to compete in multiple weight classes by having multiple fighters. There are four requirements for this, however, which are as follows:
1. Each of your fighters must compete in a different weight class.
2. Like with your original fighter, your additional fighter(s) must be created in the NON-CAREER portion of the game.
3. Members will be limited to a maximum of 3 created fighters. By competing in multiple weight classes and having multiple fights per week, it increases your level of responsibility to CAGFC and the other fighters. The more fighters you add, the greater the risk for fights going uncompleted and simply cluttering the weight division. We feel that having 3 fighters is enough for anyone to feel very active in CAGFC.
4. Before adding an additional fighter, each of your current fighters must have 2 CAGFC fights. For example:
Fighter A - Can be added at initial sign up
Fighter B - Can be added once Fighter A has 2 fights
Fighter C - Can be added once Fighter B has 2 fights
By meeting these requirements, you will demonstrate that you can handle controlling multiple fighters in CAGFC and will be rewarded with a very active and enjoyable experience. Thank you for your cooperation!

Weekly cards will be posted on Fridays, with the deadline for those fights being the following Thursday at 11:59 PM EST. All fighters will be put on the card unless CAGLeagueSports or n8rockerasu is notified in advance that you do not wish to fight that upcoming week. Any fighter who is placed on a card will either have to fight or forfeit and receive a loss. If you miss a fight, your participation in the league will be reviewed, and you may not appear on another card until your activity in the thread increases. Lower ranked fighters will fight other lower ranked fighters, with continuous opportunities to move up in the rankings. The top 3 contenders will be eligible for a title shot at any time.
Title fights should be set up by the defending champion and set for a length of 5 ROUNDS.
The results of your fights should be posted in this thread by both the winner and the loser (to maintain accuracy) in the following format:
Winner | Loser | Decision (ie. KO, TKO, submission, unanimous decision, split decision) | Time/Round

***IMPORTANT: Unlocking Online Play***
Just want to give everybody a heads up, the code to unlock online play is on the back of your manual. You should probably try redeeming it before you even start the game because if not, the game tells you that there is DLC available for update before you even reach the menu, and then takes you to the XBL store where it appears ready to use points to purchase the update. I thought I remembered a screen asking if you had a code, but I didn't see one and was all the way at the "Confirm Download" option and it showed the download costing 400 points. If you get this far, you have to press X (I think it's X anyway) to "Buy Microsoft Points", and then you can choose "Redeem Code", which will then let you put your code in. I did it this way, but it would seem like less hoops to jump through if you just did it before you even booted the game up.

5/31/10 - Non-Career CAFs it is! Sign up NOW!
After doing a few fights last night with the Non-Career CAF I created, I think those would probably be the better option for us right now. Yeah, they're not quite as fast and not quite as skilled, but you can still make a pretty decent fighter...and it's guaranteed to be fair to everyone. Not to mention, all it takes is 5 minutes and you're up and running...which is something I think the league needs. There will be no min/max stats, so create your guy as you see fit.
So, at the least, we'll start out with Non-Career CAFs, and leave the possibility of switching to Career CAFs down the road if there's ever a need to. Everybody feel free to sign up your fighters by posting the following information:
XBL Gamertag:
Fighter Name:
Height:
Weight:
I'd like to have a tournament underway by Friday.

5/29/10 - Vote on CAF System
I did some more research last night into what moojuice suggested about possibly using non-career CAFs. As I had heard, the points available for non-career CAFs is very limited. I'm going to outline both options below so people can vote on which one they want to use.
Non-Career CAFs
Attributes Average (strength/speed/cardio): 57/57/58
Skills Average (striking, takedowns, submissions, etc): 65
No min/max or min/max of 30/75
Pros
Guaranteed equal amount of points available to everyone
Ability to change ratings between fights to fit next opponent's style
Cons
Weaker fighters/Lower points available
Less skilled fighters/No advanced moves (as far as I know)
OR
Career CAFs
Attributes Cap: 250 point total (average of 83)
Skills Cap: 1280 point total (average of 80) with min/max at 50/90
Pros
Stonger fighters/Available points are based on how well you do in career
More skilled fighters/Moves learned from fight camps carry over
Cons
Stats are locked in based on how you set up your career
Feel free to weigh in (pun blatantly intended) on how you would like CAGFC to function. I'd like to get things moving as soon as possible.

5/24/10 - Game Out Tomorrow! Preliminary Sign Ups!
All right, even though there's a lot we won't know or be able to do until the game is out, there's no reason we can't start with some preliminary things to start getting ready. So, here we go.
I have a general idea of how I want to do things, but I want to get everybody's opinions. Last year, we started out with a tournament in each weight class to determine the initial champion and rankings. Do we want to do that again this year, or start based on how last year finished? (ie. who held the belts, rankings, etc) There's a few problems I see with the latter method. 1. Probably not everybody who had the game last year will be getting it again this year. 2. Some of the people who did have the game last year might want to create different fighters this year and/or start off in a different weight class. 3. A couple of the belts finished up being vacant anyway. Taking all of this into consideration, I would think starting fresh with a tournament would be the best option. What do you guys think?
The only other thing I'll tell people is until we get a good grasp on what the ratings limits will be, try not to go too far into your career for the first week (or at least until we have enough info to set up any rules or caps that may need to be made). It might sound crazy asking people to not beat the game in a week, but I'm not sure how much deeper this year's career mode is than last years (30-35 fights). And people flew through that pretty quickly.
Actually, if you do have a lot of time, and want to burn through a quick career (with the potential of possibly not being able to use that fighter...depending on how crazy his stats get), I could use your help. Anybody who wants to help me with testing and researching to see if any blatant exploits pop up, you're more than welcome. My goal this year is to keep this thing as fair and competitive as possible, without having any ridiculous super CAFs. It would be great if the game kept that in check automatically, but I've learned to never underestimate people's ability to cheat.
So, with that, if people would like to begin signing up, we can start getting an idea of how our weight classes might look. That's basically all the information I need right now. Just if you're interested in participating and what weight class your fighter is going to be in (remember, you can only start out with one fighter). You don't have to know his name now, or how tall he is, or where he's from, or anything. Just give me your XBL gamertag and what weight class you're starting in. We'll fill in the details once the rules get solidified. Let's get it on, guys!
4/30/10 - CAGFC History
I know a lot of new people are probably giving this game a look this year, so for anyone who doesn't know, YES, there is a CAG League for this game. We had an extremely successful CheapAssGamer Fighting Championship (CAGFC) last year which ran for about 4 month with cards every single week. You can check out our illustrious first run here:
http://www.cheapassgamer.com/forums/showthread.php?t=222490
As the summer wore on, there was so much info packed into that first post, we actually ran out of room. So, to get around the limitations of a simple thread/forum format, I created a website for CAGFC. I'm no web designer, but I hope it will be something we can use for the league this year.
I don't want to take the league completely away from CAG though (since it is CAGFC after all), so there will still be a thread here for CAGFC. But I do like the website for giving me a little more freedom in design and setup and things like that. But we'll see how people take to it. You can find it here:
www.cagfc.comxa.com
Below you'll find the basic structure of CAGFC. Since we don't know exactly how things are going to work in the game this year, expect there to be some ammendments. One thing that WILL be avoided this year are Super CAFs. If the game doesn't do a good job handling it on its own, I'll impose ratings limits to make sure we don't have any ridiculous super hero-like fighters.
I'm not really taking any official sign ups right now, but feel free to post your interest in participating and if you have any opinions or things you'd like to see in the league this year.
Stay tuned for more CAGFC info as the game's release approaches!

Twenty-one years from now two very happily married and extremely wealthy people will buy their own island. For the sake of keeping it simple I'll refer to them as "Mother" and "Father". They will give birth to a young stunning young boy name Jack Locke.
Jack will live a lonely and confusing childhood. Mother and Father will take to long humpings in the forest of their private island while Jack wonders lonesome along the beach wondering where he comes from. You see Mother and Father always wanted a boy and when they saw they had been cursed with a bearded baby that loved pain killers they in turn cursed him with the name Jack Locke.
At the age of 16 Locke had become a man and decided he wanted to leave the island. Conveniently there was a boat sitting just off sore that magically appeared when he decided it was time to go. Once Jack arrived to the place he referred to as Rock he learned that something was different. Somehow during his journey he had traveled back in time. He wasn't sure how, but who needs an explanation right? Jack learned he'd need some schooling so he attended the first school that would accept a fully bearded 16 year old. Jack was not popular at this new establishment and he was really wondering if he should have left. After several weeks of attending school the principal decided he should be the mascot for the football games. They'd force Jack into a cage and leave him in there for days upon days with no food or water. When game day arrived they'd place a piece of Captain Crunch Cereal at mid field and open up the cage and let Jack go crazy.
This is the path Jack traveled when five years later he was discovered by CAGFC after he physically beat several 7 years olds in a back alley who were making fun of him. Twenty-One and facing 30 years in the pen for attack underage kids he was given a choice. Throw some fights in UFC to make a quick buck for the wardens cousins uncles son who was the Vice President of CAGFC, or face thirty years in the pen. Jack chose the former.
This leads us to present day where Jack will face his inner demons. Will he throw these fights or will he rise to the occasion and expose the corrupt government that wants to see his face smashed in?
