From what I've heard, this game is pretty good. I have yet to play it much myself, but if you'd like to make a donation to the "Buy SS4Brolly a new PC" fund, it will be greatly appricated.

That, and Im running out of ideas already. If you have a game or suggestion that you would like to see, please leave a post in the "Revitalized" topic in the forum. Thanks.

My take is that it's one of the best games on XBox... peroid. BUT, I just don't seeing it being a good game for the PC. Console and PC gamers can be very different and I just don't think that this game address the wants/needs for PC'ers.

It's purrdy though =D

Comments made solely about XBX version:

Well, I'll be the first to jump in, and I will not be singing praise to Bungie on this one. Personally I am a fan of the insanely quick twitchy FPSs. This is my primary turn off to Halo, in that it feels very bogged down, especially when compared to games like Quake, Unreal, or my personal favorite, Serious Sam.

I will admit that it is a graphically phenominal game, but the visuals don't sell me on how "great of a game this is". The physics and AI are also stellar, but not ground breaking, more points in the favor of "Just another FPS" instead of "Wonderfully immersive experience, Game of the Year".

The strong points of the game I will say are multiplayer, the commonness of the game, and the ability to play in a lan configuration. It is one of the best same room FPSes since Goldeneye, it's great for a pick up and play for those who haven't played before. Now the commonness is the factor that makes it easily LAN accessible. You need a copy for each box in the LAN, and a large number of XBX owners also have Halo, making Halo quite possibly the game most readily available for lan plan.

While I love Quake, Unreal and especially Serious Sam as well, I think the thing that separates Halo from them and makes it "Wonderfully immersive experience, Game of the Year," at least for me, is the cinematic quality of the story.

While playing Halo, especially the first time through on single player, and not having been spoiled on any of the inner workings of the game, it felt more like an interactive movie than "just another FPS." For me, it was an exciting, interesting experience

Having grown up with Wolfenstein, Doom, Quake, Hexen, etc, Halo felt like the best of all those, mixed with elements of a fun sci-fi movie.

Just my $0.02. Xbox version as well.

I have so many other games to finish, but damn...this thread makes me want to go back and play through it again.

I've played through Halo a couple times, it's the best game I've played in years, I didn't even care for fps before this gem from the heavens smiled upon me

the story is very good, and it's even better if you try reading "The Fall of Reach" (novel) before you play the game, it provides a ton of info on what's going on.

You took the words right out of my mouth

Being that it's been out since almost{or at}launch and it's still running over 40$ new I'm labeling it over-hyped.Tho I've only rented I have beat the game it is an Awsome game and I'd love to own it{which I RARELY ever own games,I rent, within a week when i return I'm bored with it anyway}but not with a 40$ price tag.Get It.I'm just a cheap bastard who doesn't like to buy ANY game for more then about 20$.

Arg...there are much better games than halo. its only ok. it is not the second coming as some people say. i didnt like it. i have an x-box and a good pc and still dont own it. dont really want it. i beat it at my friends house and wasnt impressed. it has a simplistic cliched storyline (ooo, aliens are put to destroy earth and its up to one lone gunman to save it) with a few good ideas (flood kick ass, PERFECT graphics). the multiplayer SUCKs if you ask me. with all the hype of great AI, there are no bots. that is unexcusable in a new game. timeslitters has much better m-player. for my money, get timesplitters or wait for it to be dirt cheap.

the early levels are so much better than the latter ones, its really easy to see that this game was rushed for launch

the level on the beach and the first level you get the tank are awesome

the last level was good though with the warthog escape

I beg to differ, My favorite levels are the 8th and 10th levels. I havent played in while, but those two do stand out to me.

Having played the demo I can say that my feelings were semi-right, if you're used to playing console AND computer FPS's, it feels like a console fps. They did however, port it very well so it's worth a try I guess.

Why is everyone complaining about how sluggish it is? If you go into the advanced options for your character, just turn up sensitivity to 8, 9 ,or 10.
Then you reflex' will really show when you play the person who claims to bethe best. show em whos boss and shoot down their pride.
If you still don't like it:
1-get off the drugs
2-Timesplitters 2

For those that say they beat it in a week prolly played on normal or are just naturals.
If you did, rent it again and try legendary for a great challenge or brutal for fun. The game is to boring on normal or easy. The whole game becomes run n' gun. On a harder difficulty you'll really recognize how smart the AI is and then strategy comes in to play.
ALSO
I agree that the beginning levels are much more fun
(Silent Cartographer is the best)
because the flood are just annoying.
And forthose that don't like the multiplayer......
well.......that's only because either your no good at it (i.e. sore loser; bitter gamer) or the ppl you play with are.
My suggestion is to host a halo party with 4 XBOXs linked up using a hub and get 16 people. thats TRUE fun at its best.

ive played it on both, and gamefreak is right. it plays like a console FPS that they ported to PC because they could. it is a good port though, and after playing it on xbox seeing the higher resolution and graphics is pretty cool at first, but I got over it pretty quick. of course, it does have the online multiplayer, but I didnt find it that impressive to be honest. Id rather play UT.

make sure you got a good vid card and a stack of RAM though. I dont see why it does this, but it eats up your system resources.

the multiplayer SUCKs if you ask me. with all the hype of great AI, there are no bots. that is unexcusable in a new game. timeslitters has much better m-player.

I agree Timsplitters 2 was a great game, but these the multiplayer just wasn't as good as Halo. First off, Timesplitters 2 came out nearly one year after Halo meaning that is the newest of the two games so that could be one reason Halo didn't have bots. Besides, personally I'd rather play against a human than some AI controlled bot anyday. Also, the biggest difference between Timesplitters 2's and Halo's multiplayers are LAN play. Halo has it and Timesplitters doesn't. There is nothing better than going to war against 15 friends in a LAN game. Finally, Bungie made most of the maps perfect for multiplayer.

My suggestion to anyone who hasn't played this game is this. Rent or buy it (it's only 30 now for the xbox) play through the single player, but if you wanna experience the best part of this game get some friends together or find a LAN party and experience the multiplayer at its best for yourself.

thanks man, finally some that understand where ALL the replay value is. But their is a considerable amount in finding funny things to do in levels.
Silent Cartographer near death warthog umps for instance. or getting on top of the level and helping a newb do it and as soon as they get it, hit em on the back of the head. to funny.

My take on the game is it good.Yea it's good but not that Damn good. It's still like 40$ new and it's been since almost launch. This should have hit Platinum Hits a LONG time ago.

Yeah it is way more than qualified for the Platinum Hits collection. And actually, it is about 30 for the xbox most places, the PC version is somewhere between 40 or 50 depending on where you go. But still, we have Microsoft to thank for it not being a Platinum Hit. In fact the game still sells so well that is the reason they don't want to make it 19.99, basically they want the extra 10 bucks. When it goes to a Platinum Hit they could still techically keep it and 29.99 too I think. If I remember correctly from long ago when they announced the Platinum Hits collection they said prices could range from 19.99 to 29.99.

Halo on the Xbox has one of the single best multiplayer experiences that you can find on any console wihout playing online. No other game I have ever seen lets you hook up 4 xboxes with 4 players on each with absolutely no slow down or jitters or jagged edges that so many other games have. If the rumor about a Halo 1.5 had been true and the game could be played on Xbox live it would deffinitely be the #1 console game online on any system.

I gave this game a quick lookover.... as I am spoiled on controls and non splity screen for FPS, ive been playing the PC version a lot, its multiplayer is one of my Fav, and I also have other big game out BF vietnam...and Halo still competes. Also note that the PC has the flamethrower which was cut from the xbox, as well as a few other extra editions and better framerate if you are on a mid range machine.

I love being able to fly the Banshees (Covenant planes) in multiplayer. Me and my friends were just messing around with CTF on that Death Island map for hours. I never liked Halo on XBox too much but the PC version gave me a new appreciation for it.

alright, im gonna be flamed, but i hate halo. i never have liked it, on the pc or the x-box. ive had a x-box for a year and i still havent even considered buying it.

imo, its a subpar fps with a cliched story. all it has is good graphics and ai. and with such good ai, it should have bots in multiplayer, which is only good online.

i may buy it for 15 for the pc, but only if ireally need an fps fix (and with HL2, Doom3, anf farCry, i wont need one for a while).

thats just my opinon, but i personally hate halo.

The Halo PC ersion in my eyes is utter crap. For some reason no matter what the settings are its always jaggy, and horible anti-aliasing. Below is my comp specs just to show that the game doesnt run very well on even a top of the line rig.

Mobo- ASUS P4P800 Deluxe
CPU- P4 3.0 ghz
RAM- 2 sticks of 512 md ddr kingston hypermax
Vid. Card- Evga Geforce FX 5900

I have to disagree with the bots thing....bots on pc games make a little more sense, but on console games they are kinda pointless. A console is designed to be played with others. As for the online thing....you need to attend a Halo lan-party with 16 people in the same room it's so much better than playing online.

I used to play Halo on my friends Xbox all the time. We were soooo addicted to capture the flag. But I recently downloaded the Halo demo for PC, and I like it much better, mostly because of multiplayer. I'm not one of those nitpicky types that has to have AA and that crap on while playing PC games. Another reason I like the PC version is because now I can actually PLAY Halo (I don't own an Xbox). Yeah!

Halo LANs are the best gaming experience I've ever had.. Me and 7 of my friends play religiously. We get together probably once or twice a week to play Halo.. CTF is just so goddamn good.

i own both versions...got x-box version for 20 at EB games new during x-mas season...and PC version for 10 bucks at CC
