I put a brand new copy of Metroid Prime Trilogy for $65 and free shipping.. it sold in less than 10 minutes to a seller with 0 feedback or history and they just joined ebay today, June 20th. On my auctions, i make the buyer pay immediately.
the funds are in my account but there is a 21 day hold on the funds.. Never have funds from an ebay transaction been put on hold on my account.. something doesnt feel right about this?

I googled the persons name and i find a private facebook profile and i googled there username which takes me to a few videogame forums..

what should i do?
that because they are paying by echeck, which is normal
its not an echeck, paypal says they are holding it until the buyers leaves feedback or it has been delivered.

isnt it fishy that the ebayer just opened his account today and buys a product the next minute, while my ebay account has been on there since 2002 with perfect rating with over 50 excellent transactions..

I think paypal is trying to cover themselves more than me..

That's some new rule Paypal has for Ebay sellers now it seems. I sold a couple of things in the past week and every payment was on hold until I either received feedback or 21 days have passed. And it wasn't just for new buyers with 0 feedback, it's just in general.

But yea, I'd be a little wary about new members who just joined on the same day they won your auction too. I've had a couple like that who backed out of the deal and never paid, but then also I've had a few who ended up paying/leaving positive feedback as well. You never know.

if your not selling stuff regularly they will most like put hold on the money. i sell stuff all the time using the buy it now and pay it now feature. as soon as the buyer pays i get my money right away. even with brand new buyer with 0 feedback.

so should i be worried about it.. or just do it? im trying to get in ebay help chat right now just to atleast give them a heads up..

also the last thing i sold were dlc codes and got the money right away, also I just received my paypal debit card about two weeks ago.. maybe that had some influences on the hold.

You're overthinking things, don't worry. Notifying ebay isn't going to help, they will just tell you to wait until something actually happens.

I don't think a new buyer is anything to worry about, I bought something the day I set up my profile... hell the whole reason I set up my profile was so I could buy that particular item! The reason they're holding you're money is for security. People who set up accounts and rarely use them run the risk of someone stealing their profile without their knowledge so paypal is just taking the cautious route.

Just be sure to familiarize yourself with all the seller precautions and you'll be okay; ship the game with delivery confirmation, don't refund money until the item is back in your hands, etc. etc. I think you're just dealing with an impulse buyer here, I noticed that the people who buy stuff that I have priced a bit higher than normal tend to be new users.

If you're worried, make sure to send the item via UPS or through the Post Office with insurance and a return receipt. Sometimes PayPal/eBay will still side with buyers if you simply use the standard USPS delivery confirmation. They tend to look more favorably upon buyers who use UPS, or if you can provide a more substantial proof of delivery. The shipping cost will be a bit more, but you'll have peace of mind.

Just mail the item, and either use UPS for their tracking, and get signature confirmation from USPS. It's nothing to worry about, and has nothing to do with the fact the buyer is a new user.

For a 65 dollar game to a new user with zero feedback I'd get both insurance and signature confirmation.

I use signature confirmation anytime I sell an item over $50, I usually don't sell anything for that much but once in a while I do like some PS2 imports I decided I didn't want and it wasn't worth taking the risk of it being left in a mailbox or at someone's front door and then them saying they didn't get it. I know I would probably win a dispute if they opened up a case since the DC would show it as delivered but then I'd get negative feedback, and probably bad DSR ratings for the transaction.
