Newegg: Assault on Dark Athena (PC) $1.99 Shipped

Just a reminder, this game has 3 activations...total. Unless Atari has issued a patch that i do not know about you can only activate this game three total times with no revokes.

That said, $1.99 is better than a rental and this is a great game provided you can deal with the fact that you may someday be prevented from playing it due to DRM

Just got this e-mail too. Played on 360 and thought it was alright. Pulling off the brutal melee kills was the best part. It's worth checking out for $2, but like rant said, only if you don't mind possibly not being able to play it later on down the road.

I bought this on a D2D deal a while back for $5, this is a great price for the game, but everything mentioned above is true. No patch that I am aware of. For $1.99 just realize after 3 installs you are done. Buy 3 copies for $6 if its that big of a deal to you!

I'm ordering a copy. Normally I don't like games with limited installs, but fuck...its only $1.99! I'll consider it a rental.

Same here. I already have it for the Xbox 360, but for $1.99 I can play it on my gaming laptop when I'm on the go!

Protip: Install the game once, find a no-cd crack, and back the game folder up to an external HD. If you ever need to put it back on your main drive, copy that folder back over and make a new shortcut to the EXE. That gives you a life-long copy, along with the remaining 2 activations on the disc in your collection.

I got in on this deal at $5 and don't regret it at all. Fantastic games.

The DRM isn't as bad as some may think. It's not like you will never be able to activate the game again after 3 installs. After the 3rd activation a 30 day timer will start, and after the 30th day the number of activations resets so you can install it again another 3 times.
Because it's previous price of 3.99 was just TOO EXPENSIVE. Haha.
You got that right! :) Coming to CAG has made me an even bigger cheap ass! ;)

I still have a sealed 360 copy of this on my shelf, but for two bucks I could always give it away.
someone said it comes with the first game, Butcher Bay.
Yeah, that's part of the whole package - the first game revamped with better visuals plus the sequel.

that makes the deal even better.

Protip: You can always buy it, install the game, apply a "fix" that is easily found on any number of sites, then back up your whole game folder to an external hard drive. Then you've still got your activations left on the disc for future use, but if you don't want to mess with it, you can just copy that folder back onto your main HD whenever you want to play.

Also: NOT buying this at $2 should be a crime. Fantastic, fun, funny game.

It's a pretty awesome game for the price, played through it on the Xbox 360 and it's an excellent singleplayer first person action/adventure/shooter. Definitely a great example of how a movie tie-in game should be done.

The activation issue is actually what disuaded me from buying it last time at $3.99...but at $1.99, hell, I'll get one for myself and then get another as a gift for a friend and still pay as much as I would've before. Crazy that there's no shipping on it either...how do they not LOSE money from shipping out all these copies for so cheap? They must have some amazing deal with UPS or something.

Can anyone else confirm this? I just placed my order and this would be nice but the most I can be out is $2 so whatever.

This is on the Steam page for Riddick, but should apply to all versions since they all use the TAGES DRM:

"Notice: After activating the third time your product using TAGES a 30-day timer starts. After 30 days you will get that activation back up to 3 total activations."

You would think Newegg would be losing money by selling this game at this price. Think about it, man power to process order/package game + cost of shipping box + cost of shipping the game > $2. What does Newegg have to gain other than clearing up some warehouse space? Anyways, in for one. Just one.

They most certainly are losing money on this. Newegg is a loss leader. This sale is intended to hopefully spark the customer's interest in ordering other stuff (but not us CAGs, lol).

i'd totally buy, especially considering the price, but i'm very anti-drm for pc games, its why pc gaming fails for most developers =|
hell, for $1.99 shipped i bought one, and i cant even run it lol.
Why, you're even sicker than me! :applause:

LOL but the true Cheap Ass Gamer knows someone who can run it, and will receive it as gift in the future.
