retail is not a deal
Really?

Xbox 360 250GB S (doesn't include this nice reach finish and button sounds are halo related) - $299
Halo Reach Controller x 2 - $120
Halo Reach - $60

Total (if bought separately) : $480

Total (if bought in bundle) : $400

to me, that is a deal.
400$ and they give you the halo reach standard edition and only 1 month xbox gold.

Cheapos
Even though I can maybe see the point behind it, it does bother me that you drop that much on a special edition console and get the standard edition game. Like, congratulations, you love Halo so much you get to spend even more for the cool version!

You counted as if you normally don't get a controller for buying a system... but you're still saving $20 over retail (that is if you were going to pay retail prices for everything in the first place)

You may have missed it since the thread is in the 360 forum where it belongs.
Not a deal and of course the thread was missed. Someone please tell me why people are so thread happy? Just like the folks that stay up to make a thread for the Amazon deal of the day. This blew up twitter last night, so to me its old news.

Hey should I post a thread about Amazon Kinect Bundles? I'm not gonna bother searching if there already is one though....

This blows!!!!!!! I want this so bad, but I have no reason (or money) to get a new 360. I also have the legendary game ordered, so what would I do with another game?????

His name is Poker360, no point talking sense into him. He also made a thread for the new 360 Slim at full price as well as the Kinect and Arcade Slim at full price.

If you dont like stuff posted at MSRP then don't open the thread. Everyone seems to be ok with LBP CE being posted at MSRP and this is no different.

I dont see why there isnt a separate section for new stuff like this just to shut people up if nothing else. Down in the Xbox 360 section isn't good enough imo. There should be a separate forum section for MSRP "deals".

Anyway you get the New Xbox which is normally $300 alone. This one is special though because it's Halo. And you get an exclusive armor (I dont know what exactly it is) And you get the game ($60). And an extra controller ($60). And if Amazon is to be believed you also get the headset ($50). Total = $480 if bought separately including the extra $10 for the first Halo Controller.

Don't forget custom wireless headset included.($50.00),not crappy wired one
I know $400 is Retail price, but I think this is good deal.

I don't even think it's about MSRP=Bad. I think it's about perceived value and savings. With the LBP2 set, people believe it's a really good value, even at MSRP, and especially if it's limited. While these 360's are very attractive you're not saving that much if you wanted to buy everything separately (assuming you don't need the silver color and halo sounds). Additionally the controllers are ridiculously overpriced. Who the hell pays $60 for a 360 controller? Just for a paint job? Sad.

What wireless headset?

This headset, which is sold separately for $49.99. The bundle still includes a crappy wired one from pictures I've seen:

Also, you know what would have really made this a nice deal? If they included the Limited Edition of Halo Reach with this. I know there are tons of Halo fans who are probably going to pick this up, but I'm betting they also want that LE set. It wouldn't surprise me if they bought both. Would it have killed Microsoft to throw another $20 worth of savings in here?
wait.. where does it say that the wireless headset is included
Maybe ssj is right. Amazon says "Black Headset" is included in the description but it may just be a generic one and not the Halo one.

As some else mentioned that is one bad ass looking color on that 360. If I didn't have a 60GB Pro that's still going strong after 2 years and an Arcade (unopened) I bought at Walmart during their $100 GC Christmas special I would be all over that halo Reach bundle.

Meh....I want a slim 360, not sure about this one though. The silver is different for sure. I have a silver receiver and silver cable box, so I suppose it would match that....but I will probably replace my receiver with a black one when I upgrade.

To the people complaining about the overabundance of threads, I for one find threads like this useful. Not necessarily "deals" but a lot of the CE/LE/Bundle type products get posted separately here in the deals forum just to let people know what's available and when. Maybe it is not in strict compliance with the rules but it seems to be something of a custom on the CAG deals forum to highlight these special editions/bundles.

Plus if it ever does go on sale for a deal, the thread can be updated.

I like having threads like this because the CAG forum is pretty much the only place I look for game product news and deals. Also then people don't have to wade through the uberlong game threads (Halo Reach thread in the 360 forum is 32 pages long as of now) just to find a few bits of product info.

Just my $0.02

Any videos of the sounds it makes? It supposed to have a unique start up and eject sound. But is it coming from the console or menu?

60$ for some Xbox Controller is ridiculous... Halo theme or not... I guess it would be 40$ depending on how you look at it (comparing the game cost to the Amazon 20$ game credit)

Edit: and the 1 month of xbox live... If it's just like the other Slim's boxes, its just a free month of Gold for NEW subscribers... there is not a card in the box.

It's funny how people come into a thread just to gripe. Either you're into it or you're not. It's a fine deal if you care for the Halo theme.

As for what you get, I remember reading that you get a halo themed wired headset, not the fancy wireless one. You also get the DLC from the LE, which is the elite armor for multiplayer. That was a nice touch.

I just wish they would include the LE version of the game in these LE consoles.

Last thing.....the exclusive halo sounds is what makes this unit absolutely SICK! I'm in for one.

That goes with every thread... even GoW III UE for $20, BS2 LE for $20... There's always posts like "no deal" or "sick" or "YMMV." Without those posts, most threads are just about 5 pages.

Anyway, thanks OP for the info. Personally, i think it's a lackluster bundle, no LE of the game is weird... And the guessing work of the wireless headset , included or not, doesn't make the deal any hotter either. As for the look? It's okay i guess, but not strikingly pretty or standout. I'll wait till it hits $250.

If it ever hits $250, I'm on that like white on rice!!!!!! We should keep this thread updated with price so we can now if it ever drops!!!

nterestingly, the official press release from Microsoft also states that the Limited Edition model will come with ‘custom’ Halo Reach sounds and effects! – Sounds great, but what do they mean?

the system has custom sounds for when it powers up and when you open the try, kinda a lil nice bonus imo.

Check out Major Nelson's video on XBL for a quick grab of the sound effects when you power up/down/open tray/whatever.

Hey, as for actually procuring this thing.....any thoughts on where is the best place? I see the options as:

1) Amazon, cuz they're dependable and no tax
2) Best Buy for the reward points and maybe getting it by walking into the store on 9/14
3) Gamestop cuz they *might* have a console trade-in deal

I'm leaning to Amazon just because I don't want to run around and worry about it. Anybody think this part through? What are you doing?

Thats sounds pretty cool actually.

I'm mostly just curious exactly how limited this will be. I don't want to splurge for it and find out that this shit is going to be overproduced like the OG Halo 3 console.

im not bitching because i absolutely think the console looks sweet as hell...but since the slim came out i was able to grab a bascially brand new modern warfare 2 console (with everything),wireless network adapter, and red dead redemption all in one auction for $240 on ebay. nows the time to hop on those older models because they are dropping drastically in price... even the 250 gb ones.

back on topic though, i think the console looks sick and i might grab one of those limited edition controllers if they drop alittle bit.

I wonder how limited this console will be. If Amazon has enough of them, they'll surely have some nice offers like free gift cards or games shortly after release (especially if they last till November). Anyone agree?

It looks like a $20 DVD player. And those headsets are kind of crappy, for all of those who seem to have never used one. They're better than the complete garbage Microsoft packs with Xboxes but compared to even a decent bluetooth headset they're pretty terrible. They'll chafe the shit out of your ear after an hour or two and the range is really poor, but at least you're not tethered to the stupid controller.

I disagree. I think the wireless headsets are really comfortable and sound great. Early models had some issues but those disappeared after the Halo 3 headset.
God people who hate Halo are worse than Halo fanboys.
I agree lol. I'm mostly a PS3 guy and really didnt even like Halo 2 when I played it (though I did have some fun with ODST) but I'm amped for Halo Reach for some reason. It really looks like it's going to be something special. I can see it getting some very high review scores from looking at all the previews and seeing everything they're throwing in.

I don't see any console trade in deals at Gamestop for this. I want this. Anyone know what GS is offering for a 360 these days in a trade? 60GB HD? Wireless controllers? My cats?
