Now I am still on the phat PS2 that I got several years ago, and my bro did get a PS2 slim (-70000) about a couple years ago. Now I do wonder when the retail stores will start clearing them out.

Anyone looking forward to see the PS2 drop below US $100?
 
We're going to see at least another Christmas at retail if not one more. I'd say earliest they will start clearancing out is roughly this time next year.

As in a new one for $99.99 or buying it used?

I haven't seen any retail stores dropping to around USD $80.
 
If they dropped down to the $75-80 range, I'd snag one. Problem is, most of the places I still see them only have a handful, which means they're likely to disappear as soon as any kind of price drop happens anyway.
