The Fascinate (Galaxy S series) have a similar feature as well, I forget what they call it though.

It just sucks that Verizon hasn't announced a date...rumor is late Sept. now :wall:

EDIT: NVM...its the same thing "Swype".

How are the emulators on the Android? I'm eagerly anticipating playing NES, SNES games on the Fascinate when it finally comes sometime soon.

There's an SNES emulator, but it costs money, and the reviewed didn't seem too great. Looks like a port of SNES9X or something.

Got the x so far emulated everything up to and including psx fine except for some minor sound issues on the psx one. Swype works great and rockplayer has handled everything I've thrown at it and well

Wondering why I did such a long quote, didn't quote at all, or my post is riddled with typos? 90% of the time I'm on a mobile device and editing and formatting are too time consuming.

Buy whatever you want now, when it comes to phones you will be waiting forever because there is always a new model coming out anymore. If you wait for droid 2 when it comes out they will be talking about droid 3.

I have a htc droid and I love it, despite the fact I wished Id just stuck with my regular phone because I dont need all this shit and its to expensive. Im ditching it for a regular phone after my contract because its to expensive.

The Droid X is an awesome smart phone. A friend of mine just picked one up a few weeks ago and I've had the chance to play around with it. It's a bit larger than most smart phones on the market, but it isn't heavy and remains fairly thin. The screen is beautiful on the phone and it's highly customizable.

I'm thinking of switching to an android phone next year when my AT&T contract is up. I'm over the iPhone now, not being able to customize much without jailbreaking it sucks and when I have had mine jailbroken it always seems to run weird. I also hate the coverage I get with AT&T, it's pretty terrible at times.

Another happy X owner here. Unless you are really needing a physical keyboard I would stay away from the Droid 2.

The X would be perfect if you want the larger screen and the Incredible if not. I bought an Incredible for my mom and played with it a while before I sent it off to her and I liked it as well. My wife is holding out for the VZW version of the Galaxy S so eventually I will have played around in great detail with all 3 models.

Definitely love the Android OS for everything except gaming. It is capable of having great games and is more than powerful enough, just the market options are very lacking right now.

Maybe with the Open Feint devs starting to push Android OS it will get a little better but I don't really see things changing that much.

Simple:

Want a physical keyboard? Droid 2.
Okay with no physical keyboard? Droid X.
Want to feel like you somehow got on the short bus? Droid Incredible.

There is no reason anyone should opt for an Incredible over the other two.

WTF?

I had the Droid 1, then i got the Incredible, my brother has the Droid X and 7 of my cousins have the Evo 4G.

Ive hacked all of them and im very familiar with the phones in and out.

Droid X is nice hardware, but its a very cheaply built phone. It doesnt feel sturdy, the buttons are actual buttons and feel terrible. The camera is absolutely bad in comparison to the Incredible as well. The incredible with 2.2 firmware which i have on my phone does 720p video recording in h.264 and 8mp camera which takes some amazing pictures. In fact, when i show people my phone and my brothers Droid X, people prefer my phone 9 out of 10 times.

Droid 2 is basically going to be the Droid X guts inside of the Droid 1 phone with a nicer keyboard. If you absolutely need a keyboard, then maybe its worth it, but after installing Swype on a touch screen phone, there is 0 need for a physical keyboard anymore, it is completely obsolete. Plus Motorola has some of the worst touch screens available, the Incredible and Evo use TouchMAX Capacitive touch screens which are phenomenal in quality.

In short, I'd go with the incredible if you are on verizon. Evo 4G if you are on sprint (but the Evo requires it to be heavily hacked to become usable due to the 30FPS lock on the phone, need to hack it to get 60fps).

eh?

Droid X has a rubber coating around the phone and the screen is made out of Gorilla Glass.

Camera wise, the Droid X shows how things are correctly. the Incredible and iPhone 4 have too much bloom and are over saturated.

They have the same GHz amount with their processors but they are different. The Droid X's TI OMAP 3630 is actually better than the Snapdragon (slightly faster).

Most poeple go for the Incredible cause it looks like a iPhone. To most, the Droid X is too big, but once they get use to it, they can never go back (guilty of this one).

the only thing, imo, that the Incredible has over the Droid X is Android 2.2 and the ability to flash custom roms. But once that is solved for the X, the X is the better choice

Motorola has crappy touch screens? ok

Bottomline it comes down to preference. Do you want an android iPhone look-alike? or do you want a bigger beast? Honesty, the Droid X is a beast of a phone, it is just getting held back by Motoblur. I've had the lucky chance to play with a prototype Droid X with a vanilla rom, and it is a beast!

if you got Sprint get the Evo. if Verizon then the Droid X. if you want a iPhone look-alike or want a smaller but good phone, then go for the Incredible

As i said, i have a droid x accessible at all times, my brother has one. The rubber coating is very cheap in comparison to the one the Incredible, as are the buttons which really feel poor in quality. The incredible also has Gorilla Glass.

Camera wise, the Droid X shows how things are correctly. the Incredible and iPhone 4 have too much bloom and are over saturated.

This is hilarious. Really, its sad.

They have the same GHz amount with their processors but they are different. The Droid X's TI OMAP 3630 is actually better than the Snapdragon (slightly faster).

The CPU is faster on the X, but the Snapdragon on the Incredible is similar to the Nexus One, which is the Official Google phone. Meaning the OS is being built around that processor, which means the best support and compatibility vs a one off CPU in a Motorola. The tiny difference in real world will mean less then you think.

Most poeple go for the Incredible cause it looks like a iPhone. To most, the Droid X is too big, but once they get use to it, they can never go back (guilty of this one).

Yah, no one would go for the incredible for the AMOLED screen, the form factor (fits nicer in your hand), the better touch screen, the Snapdragon processor thats in the official google phone, the better camera, etc etc. Nope, its because it looks like an Iphone.

pssst. Here is a hint. It doesn't look like an iphone. Smartphones are going to look like this from here on out, look at the Evo 4G for more evidence.

the only thing, imo, that the Incredible has over the Droid X is Android 2.2 and the ability to flash custom roms. But once that is solved for the X, the X is the better choice

Considering the Milestone has not been cracked (and the phone has been out for over 7 months with people trying to crack it this entire time), and the X has a even STRONGER protection then the Milestone, i would not hold your breath. Best get used to Motoblur. I have a custom 2.2 rom flashed on my incredible.

Motorola has crappy touch screens? ok

Ok indeed. Go watch this:

http://techcrunch.co...en-performance/

The X uses a similar touch screen to the old droid 1. Its not the TouchMAX Capacitive that the Incredible/Evo 4G have which is basically the best in the business.

There is so much bias here its a bit insane. Droid X is a fine phone, but its not perfect, nowhere even near perfect. It has many major flaws. Every phone does. To me, personally, the incredible has more going for it then the X. The 4.3" is nice, but theres a lot more to a phone then screen size. And Droid X with vanilla isnt possible, so who cares.

You're just sour because you're stuck with the Incredible =P

From Phone Arena:

The clear winner here for most people is the Motorola DROID X, as it offers a larger, 4.3” display, excellent call quality, better looking camera images and video with HDMI out, and has overall faster performance with better battery life. Though the HTC Droid Incredible is better suited for those individuals looking for a more compact smartphone with a smaller screen and are fond of HTC Sense UI.

From Tech Bottle:

I’m a satisfied Incredible owner but, all in all, the Incredible doesn’t seem to do anything better than the Droid X.

Battery on Droid X is shown to be better. The screen is visible outside, in daylight. The colors are reportedly more accurate (37% oversaturation on Incredible, -8% saturation on X).

Camera... both have their flaws. I would rather use a real camera for anything I cared enough about, so it's a moot point to me. I have taken maybe 5 pictures on my Droid X, so I can't really comment on it. Supposedly, the Droid X has less detail, but more accurate colors, and Incredible has more detail, and a green hue. Or something.

Benchmarks show that the Droid X wipes the floor with Incredible.

Droid X is proven to have better antenna technology. I was at the pool of an apartment complex yesterday, and it scanned about THIRTY different signals. My office also has bad signal, yet 80% of the time, I can actually stream music where I sit, which I'll guarantee you wouldn't happen on the Incredible.

Everyone else thinks the Droid X is sturdy, cept you. It's metal, covered with a coat of rubber. This is the first portable device I've gotten in 3 years that I haven't gotten a silicon skin for, because of how nice it feels.

I'll admit, the buttons on the Droid X feels flimsy (2 front rockers and the camera). Volume one feels fine.

The real downside for most people on Droid X is Motoblur. That's it.

And don't forget, Froyo rolls out on Droid X in September, which will make Droid X even faster.

Yes the buttons are flimsy but the phone is actually well built. Yes I know it is accessible at all times, but you really need to be with the phone for a week or two to really get the feel for it.

This is hilarious. Really, its sad.

Sad cause its true

The CPU is faster on the X, but the Snapdragon on the Incredible is similar to the Nexus One, which is the Official Google phone. Meaning the OS is being built around that processor, which means the best support and compatibility vs a one off CPU in a Motorola. The tiny difference in real world will mean less then you think.

LOL what? xD who told you that crap? As some one who has programmed for both phones, that is not true at all.

Yah, no one would go for the incredible for the AMOLED screen, the form factor (fits nicer in your hand), the better touch screen, the Snapdragon processor thats in the official google phone, the better camera, etc etc. Nope, its because it looks like an Iphone.

LOL 99% of the people that buy the Incredible arent tech savy at all and acutally do buy it cause it looks like a iPhone. Just because you and your friend(s) didnt, doesnt mean everyone else didnt. Pretty much everyone I ask gives that reason. I never said that its bad, I am just saying that the average consumer of this phone doesn't know it has a AMOLED screen, better touch screen, processor, and camera (they just go by MP).

pssst. Here is a hint. It doesn't look like an iphone. Smartphones are going to look like this from here on out, look at the Evo 4G for more evidence.

LOL is all I say.

Eh, if you are just reading what people post then you will believe that. It is crackable, just takes times due to the encryption. You CAN technically load a custom ROM on the X but once you reboot, the bootloader will turn the device into service mode since it knows the phone is running unassigned code. For Motoblur, many of us X users just use Launcher Pro. Problem solved.

Ok indeed. Go watch this:

http://techcrunch.co...en-performance/

The X uses a similar touch screen to the old droid 1. Its not the TouchMAX Capacitive that the Incredible/Evo 4G have which is basically the best in the business.

hmm fair enough. Although, its not "crappy" just not as good.

No one is saying that it is perfect. Every phone has its flaws. Again, it is YOUR opinion. My opinion comes from my handling and programming experiences from these phones. IMO, the Droid X and the Evo are the dominant phones at the moment (cant really count the Nexus One since it is a dev phone now). A vanilla X is possible though.

LOL.

After playing with the Captivate at an AT&T store, I'm leaning towards getting the Fascinate when it comes out. To me it seems like the X with capacitive buttons rather than physical ones, plus the screen really is as nice as everyone says.

Do any of you use cases/screen protectors for your phones? The gorilla glass used in many of these phones seems pretty hard to scratch from what I've read.

Excellent choice!

Yes, I would advise putting a screen protector on the screen. The grease and oil from hands can wear down the touchscreen after awhile. Plus, you can never be too careful when it comes to your screen. Case wise, that is up to you. For my Droid X, I have Verizon's hard silicone case.

I would have to agree with refusedchaos, get a screen protector. As for the cases, it is going to be much more of a personal choice. I currently don't have a case for my incredible, more or less because I can't find one that fits the phone the way I want it to. So I recommend buying a few cases trying them if you don't like them return them.

My wait for the Fascinate is killing me, also all these rumors of other super smartphones coming out is making think twice about getting it and rather waiting another month or so for the newer phones.

So far, Droid Pro (rumored for November) and the HTC Scorpion (rumored for Jan 2011) are looking mighty fine (on paper).

I have to agree with you, I tried the Moto Droid before switching to my Incredible, and I just didn't enjoy the layout of the keys or the size of them. I have had plenty of phones with Keyboards as well, Sidekick and enV to list a couple, and I just couldn't get use to the moto droid keys enough. On top of that the sliding out of the keyboard always made me feel uncomfortable as if it was scratching up my keyboard. I have to say after using a couple generations of touchscreen keyboards, I think it's the way to go for most if not all phones.

No joke. Been following a few of the mobile news sites for the past few weeks, and every week that goes by I'm more conflicted as to what I want. I have to agree that personally I feel the incredible is a better size than the Droid X. As for Motorola's quality I have never had a big problem with them, the few phones I have tried from them felt pretty sturdy. With the exception of the scratching feeling on the sliding part of the Moto Droid, that just felt like the rubber padding was going to get scratched off the keyboard.
