Is there a thread for android deals? I just got $25 GP and I want to keep an eye out for deals on games/apps.

http://www.cheapassg...ad.php?t=254076

Unfortunately, not as frequently updated as the iOS sale thread or perhaps not enough deals.

After finding itself as an LG exclusive for almost a year now, the fighting game classic Street Fighter 4 is now finally available for download in the Google Play Store for a handful of other devices. The only problem is most of these devices are unique to Japan where the game is only available (for now). At $3.48 cents by current exchange rates, this is about as close as you’re going to get to having a true Street Fighter 4 experience on your mobile device.

According to Droid Gamers (which has an awesome new redesigned site), the Japanese Street Fighter 4 for Android also has an English option which gives us hope that it’ll be arriving stateside in the near future. The game currently weights in at hefty 1.3GB, so you might wanna start clearing out some old apps in the meantime. We’ll keep you updated.

The guys at droidgamers are saying it still has low res graphics and hasnt really been updated for the newer devices. Im disappointed. Been waiting for this for a whilw. Ill still try the apk

So I just got into the Ingress beta and this thing is pretty cool. Went around my neighborhood this weekend to mess around with it and it definitely has a hook. Only thing I see being an issue is how one high level person can own pretty bad (to the point where I'm sure it gets boring for them too). Low level = can only use low level attack items, so you literally do 1% damage to well fortified portals.

But I love how it hooks you both on a local and semi-local level having you think about portal links and creating fields (link up portals in a triangle and the area in between is your factions'). It's really smart how you can't see the whole world map and browse around freely on the app (you can only zoom out so far from your immediate location). Unless you're mapping stuff out at home a lot from the actual website, you feel like you're exploring and discovering (sure you can load up the website on your phone's web browser, but it's annoying to use on a touch screen).

I wonder where this thing will go in order to come out as a proper release...

Thanks for the heads up. Looks pretty cool, I'll try it out...have yet to put any emulators on my nexus 7.

UPDATE: I tried a few quick things. I love how clean the interface is. It's nice that it's ad free and free for that matter! I like that it has a bunch of emulators in one program. Pretty sweet so far.

Can anyone recommend a good touchscreen controller app? I'm not sure I like the one that comes with Retroarch. Also, are there any retro games in particular that play well on a touchscreen phone. I can't imagine that anything that involves twitch reactions or spot-on controls will work well on an Android. I supposed RPGs should work fine as long as the touchscreen gamepad is responsive enough...

You should definitely use a controller. Check the 2 videos posted for Retroarch here:

You can use the debug setting, and send the dev the HID name + what the buttons are mapped to, and he will add it to the emu as auto detect. They are working on manual button inputs as well.

I just have to say, I hate that my android phone is old. I have a cool new tablet that is great, but my phone is so crappy I cant do anything with it.
I should have upgraded my phone before buying a tablet. i am so dumb.

Nexus 4 is for sale again on Google's website if anyone is in the market for an inexpensive but powerful handset: https://www.google.com/nexus/4/

MSRP of $300 versus the Tmo price for $550.

Can anyone recommend a good 4G carrier? I'm thinking of getting the S3 from Best Buy at $99. Right now I have Boost mobile and their service sucks.

Really wish Mobage would get off their lazy fucking ass and make Marvel WOH compatible with the Nexus 7 already. Shits been out since like October and gone through numerous patches, yet they still havent made it compatible.

Viber should work. My in-laws are in the Philippines, and my wife and sisters-in-law use this app to call and text them for free.

oh really?

So it's pretty easy to use and won't mess with your normal calling/texting details?

It works great as far as I can tell. I use it all the time now to text my wife, which preserves my meager 200 texts per month on my AT&T plan. If you look up reviews on iTunes or Google Play, you'll see that this app has gotten some great reviews. Anyway, the app's description includes the following:

"Call and text anyone, anywhere. Viber allows you to call, text, and send photos worldwide for free to over 140 million users."

Try it out. I'm sure it's exactly what you're looking for.

Cool..I'll have my wife try it out this weekend.
I am curious though.....is the program tied to your phone number or creates its own number and does she have to be on a wi fi spot or have data on for it to work? If her brother sends her a message outside of viber (using standard texting plan) will she get charged for that message?

It's tied to your phone number (unlike Google Voice), and you do have to have Wi-fi or data turned on to use the app. If your wife and brother text/call each other using the Viber app, they won't get charged. Also, I don't know if this helps you, but you can use Viber if you have a standard cell phone and an ipod Touch. You just need a cell phone to tie your Viber account to and a device capable of using the Viber app. I text my wife's ipod all the time now.

Just wanted to clarify that you need a cell phone number to activate your Viber account. When you register for Viber, Viber sends an activation code to the cell phone number you provide. After that, the Viber app acts independently from your cell phone in terms of making calls or sending out texts.

One other thing, when I activated Viber on my Android, it searched my contact list and created a new Viber contact list that included anyone on my phone's contact list that had the Viber app activated. I thought that was pretty cool.

Now when you do get a call from another viber user, does it automatically use viber or give you a choice?

If someone calls you or texts you using Viber, your device will automatically use Viber.

My wife ended up getting the Iphone 5.. :-\ So now I have an extra droid charge until the Galaxy S4 comes out. Now I was told that all I have to do is swap sim cards and my number is transferred over, which it has. However my wife's gmail/facebook and google play store is still linked on the phone...how do I delete her account and set up mine? I tried deleting facebook but it is stuck in the uninstall screen.

Just go into the settings and do a reset on the phone. It will wipe all the accounts and everything, will be like it was new from the store.
