New Xbox Slim won't read discs

Hey guys. I have a new Xbox 360 Slim, and tonight, it decided it no longer would read discs. I've already started a repair request with Microsoft, but obviously, I'm pretty upset. The whole reason I upgraded to a Slim was to avoid this kind of crap! Anyway, does anyone know any tricks to fixing this? I've cleared the cache, removed the hard drive, removed the USB sticks - everything M$ suggests. Thanks for any help!
 
I bought it off a guy on craigslist. It's worked flawlessly for the month I've had it. Unfortunately, I don't have a receipt.
 
I got a good deal on it, and the console was never registered, so I think I'm OK on the repair front. Just sucks that I STILL have to send my box away in a coffin.
 
Wow this is the first problem I've heard with a slim so far, outside of that one guy on CAG who had one fucked right out of the box - the power strip kept overheating.
