Yeah, I'm gonna add that as soon as I get on my PS3 and check out the store, I'll add in all the game trials as well, just wanted to get something up for right now.

By the way, any suggestions on how to make the first two posts better are welcome.

Rival School Avatar Bundle (Exclusive to PlayStation Plus members for $1.99)

For those who want this, this bundle isn't really exclusive. Amazon sells the code for $1.99 as well. You don't need PS+ to redeem the code, and the code is good even if you previously purchased any of the Rival Schools avatars before.

http://www.amazon.com/Rival-Schools..._2?s=videogames&ie=UTF8&qid=1294383472&sr=1-2

Overpaid a buck or two for buying the avatars before, but getting the entire set for for this price is pretty good.

Looking cool so far, but that $5.99 on the Tik/Creat games aren't regularly price that, that's the sale for non + users.
Cool! Now I might actually get PS+

That free Lead & Gold is so damn tempting.
Very worth it man. I have it for Steam and now for ps3. It's a blast playing it for PS3 :)

Okay, I'll make sure to update it when the prices go back to normal since the Plus discounts will be affected as well.

I agree. The game is quite fun, and I'm hoping with PS Plus members getting it for free ($14.99 for everyone else) that it's online community will double or triple. I had no trouble getting into a game, and in fact I played a good 1-2 hours my first go around.

Had this game been $9.99 or less when it came out, I'd have bought it. It took my getting it for "free" (at least as long as I'm a PS Plus subscriber) to realize what I was missing out on.

Is Lead & Gold only multiplayer? If so, that kind of ruins it for me. Maybe I'll give it a try, though, given the price ;).

Yes it is, but unlike Warhawk or MAG, you don't have to "justify" your cost of buying the game (which sadly I've played little of either though I own both). This is free as a PS Plus member, so enjoy. Had I not enjoyed my first experience with the game, I'd have just deleted the game and moved on. Instead, I'm looking forward to playing it over the 13-14 months I have remaining on my subscription (if Sony keeps offering more of these types of games for free, I'll renew).

How do you find out the upcoming deals? I think I'll probably get Scott Pilgrim for that price, but I'm really waiting for a deal on Costume Quest...

Thread looks great so far BTW, thanks!
how much is playstation plus?
$17.99 for 3 months and $49.99 for a year, but if you get a year you get an additional 3 months, not sure how long that deal is going for but it has been since launch.

The cards at Target don't say anything about an extra 3 months with the purchase of a year. I want to take advantage of that offer so where can I go to get the extra 3 months tacked on?

Just buy the PSN Cards in target with your gift cards (Not the PS Plus membership cards), then add the cards to your PSN wallet. Then you can get the membership in the playstation store (12+3) using the funds in your wallet.

Lead and Gold was fun for the 20 minutes I played yesterday, but I don't know if we were doing best of 3 matches or something b/c I played on full match, went to lobby, just said press X if ready and a new match started, I bailed and none of my stats saved

I wish they had a tutorial mode or something (I think there is a 'practice' option) but just thrusting you into a MP game with no idea what everything means was both scary and embarrassing! I did manage to drop the gold once and protect some guy (well rather died for him!) dropping the gold..

I probably should have put the answer to that in my first post, I'll update it today after work.

I'm really thinking about getting Playstation Plus, especially since I'd like to download more games to have on my PS3 and I'm thinking about getting a PSP, which makes me want PS One Classics to play on there.

Does anyone else have it? What do you think about it? Is it worth it? I might get a three month membership and see how it goes. But three extra months for a one year membership is tempting too.

I've gotten over $75 of free stuff I didn't previously have for the $50 and we're only what? 6 months into the service. I could have $150 in games by the time a year rolls around. Plus the discounts on normal titles, sometimes on release date (Dead Nation) is awesome! I recommend everyone that tells me they have a PS3 to sign up. I don't see myself ever not renewing and will keep the service as long as it is offered. Just get it, you won't regret it!

Yeah it's been more than worth my money so far. I actually used all the PSN vouchers I redeemed from having a Sony rewards cc which makes it seem even better :D

Well how many games do you own? Plus seems great if you do not own a lot of games on the system, but the more games you have the less its worth it. It seems like a lot of people find it great and id say if you have not but tons of PSN games its worth it, but if you have then you can expect to get a fair number of repeats since they like to give away old stuff like Wipeout away.

ive had it since it launched, its well worth the money, just be smart and dont cut on the function where it auto downloads stuff for you. also being part of the dc universe online beta and lbp2 beta made it awesome, with all the free (while you pay for the service) stuff its well worth $50 a year

are these like MS point/sub cards where they are on sale someplaces sometimes? seems more rigid. do you get charged tax when buying from the store? i want to get it since my XBL is good till 2013, how often to free games get given to members? thanks

They do sell the cards in stores but I'm not sure if they've ever been on sale. Not sure about taxes either, but I don't think BB charges taxes on the regular PSN cards so they probably don't with these either. Worst case you could just buy a $50 PSN card and buy Playstation Plus through the PSN store.

Every month you get

1 PSN game
1 PS1 Classic
2 Playstation minis

so if they stick to that, that's 48 games a year to play aside from the betas and other offers included. I personally haven't cared for the PS1 games much, but the PSN games alone have been worth it (Wipeout HD, Sam and Max TDP 1-5, Shatter, Lead and Gold, etc..)

I've been thinking about getting it as an upgraded renewal of Qore, but the all the free stuff they've been giving out are all games that I already own...

The discount on the NeoGeo bundle is pretty good though.
hmm, youve given me much to think about. thanks michael. ill probably bite for the 3 month code.
If they still have the 12+3 deal going on, I would just get a year if I were you. For only $32 more than the 3 month sub you will get an entire full year more.

As to whether it is worth it or not, I'd say it really depends on how much PSN content you've bought in the past. Ironically enough, it is a worse deal for a "loyal" PS3 owner who has purchased a lot of content in the past. I was sort of regretting it at first after the first 3 or 4 games beyond the initial one (I didn't have WipeOut) were all ones I had bought earlier in the year. But more recently it has really come through for me. Shatter, the SackBoy Move title, and all the Sam & Max Episodes were awesome to get for free. Though I hear Sackboy's Prehistoric Adventures will be on the LBP 2 disc anyway, so that's not as great as I thought it was.

Also, someone mentioned getting in on the LBP2 demo as part of PS+? I never saw this as an option (there were betas for other things in the store) or ever saw it discussed on CAG. If I missed something because it was buried in the main PS store thread, then there's another reason why I suggested someone resurrect this thread! My son was just asking me the other say why he saw people on his friend's list playing the LBP2 beta and we didn't have it. I figured it was invite-only or something.
No, they only expire when your subcription ends.
WTF?! So if i get Lead and Gold for free with PSN +, when my subs over the game wont work? that makes this a definite no buy for me if this is the case.
WTF?! So if i get Lead and Gold for free with PSN +, when my subs over the game wont work? that makes this a definite no buy for me if this is the case.
Yeah, this would be kind of lame. I might not get it if that's the case.

It stops working once your sub runs out, but you can play it again once you've renewed.
WTF?! So if i get Lead and Gold for free with PSN +, when my subs over the game wont work? that makes this a definite no buy for me if this is the case.
Yep, that's the way it works - which is why I suggested you get the 12+3 if you are going to do it at all. There's no point having 3 months worth and then losing the free games. You do still get to keep any free DLC/avatars/themes/etc and of course any discounted (but not free) games you buy. But the free PSN games/minis/PS1 stuff will stop working. That is sort of the point though - "free" stuff as long as you stay subbed.

If you think about it, though, it really wouldn't make sense for them to let you keep it forever if you just sign up for 3 months at $18 to snag all the free stuff. If it worked that way, you could spend just $18 to get all Sam & Max episodes (normally $35), Lead & Gold ($15), whatever minis and PS1 are currently offered, plus whatever they add to the list over the next 2+ months (at least 2 more PSN games). Really, for $50, gettting all that plus more stuff over the next 15 months is not a bad deal. You will probably be done playing most of what you want to by then. And if they keep coming up with great things to add near the end (that maybe you don't have time to play), you will want to renew anyway.

Exactly. A lot of people don't seem to get that point.

I'm not the type to play through digital games multiple times (w/ a few exceptions) so I don't mind at all that the games won't work after my 15 months are up. More than likely though I'll still re-subscribe just to get future games, be part of future betas, and give a little support to devs, etc... Another thing, 12 months from now, who knows if Lead and Gold will even have a lively MP community.

I already got my $'s worth well over the $50, great discounts on stuff that I was gong to buy already, free avatars and themes, and maybe DLC? I still don't have a 100% answer on that, you don't even get the 'warning' like you would be getting like how it is with the games/beta/Qore, and free full access to PSN/PS1 games, ya you don't get to keep them (not like I'm going to stop renewing anyway) but with free full access to them on top of getting your money's worth from discounts/other crap, getting these free games and beating them is just a great bonus.

I read on a site that the PS One classic games still work even if your subscription runs out. It was kind of an old article though. Does anyone know if that's still true?

true true, i get why they do that, but for me personally that makes it a definite no. thanks for all the help.

Read that on Joystiq's article about what happens after a sub ends but not sure if they fixed it yet. Really want to know too.

Are you really going to play these games for over a year though? And, furthermore, you don't think that'd it'd be likely that you sign up again?
