Pokemon Black and White with $10 Credit at Amazon

hebrewhammer587

CAGiversary!
For those of you that are still on the fence on buying the new Pokemon game, Amazon is offering a 5 10 dollar credit. While it's not much, I haven't seen many offers on this game yet. Excuse me if this has already been posted, but if it has I think it is important to be on the front page.

Edit: Some people have received $15 in credit, YMMV on that however, I know theres people out there willing to argue with amazon customer service for $5 so I wanted to make sure people knew.

I'm sure Kmart will have a nice deal also. My guess would be something better than $5. Amazon isnt even trying with this one apparently

No, I feel like they know what they are doing. It's Pokemon so it's guaranteed to sell a ton of copies but Amazon wants to give a tiny incentive for people to shop at them first.

I think amazon is just matching the Target promo
hopefully someones has some good pre-order of good deal
havent decided where i want to get my copies from yet

i was thinking about best buy if they are giving $10 credit, but then with tax in cali (8.75%) it would $3 in tax, and then driving to one around me. I'm probably gonna get it at Amazon since I have credit anyways...

but then i would need to wait til its shipped to me, but i can hold off for a couple of days after launch.

btw, wish there was a pre-order figure with this, i like how the black and white legendaries look.

Any word on a TRU deal? They usually have some sort of physical bonus (like a t-shirt or accessory kit) as a buying incentive.

I heard its wall clings.

I plan to get one at TRU since I have a gift card there and bestbuy for the point deal..

Who knows some place might have something if not I don't care I just want to play the game.

Does anyone know if you order from Amazon if you'll receive the game before the release date? I hate how these Pokemon games are released on Sundays. >_>

You don't. Which is another reason why they're going to have to give me more than $5 to buy it from them...

Thanks OP. With sales tax, the Best Buy deal isn't that much better over here. Moreover, I don't have a car right now so I actually prefer it being shipped. I'm hoping it arrives on Monday but I can certainly wait a couple days longer.

I'd really like to get this on release date.. but I find amazon credit much more useful than best buy credit... plus I also live in CA so the tax basically negates the benefit over amazon.

So which version is everyone getting? I'm really at a loss since I don't know if battle city is more useful than the extra forest White version has...

I'm leaning towards black because the city looks different from the other games but to me a forest is just another forest.

White. Mainly because Reshiram's design looks pretty lousy to me while Zekrom seems pretty badass.

On the other hand, it's $10 credit at Best Buy. I think I'd rather have the $5 at Amazon. While I will definitely be pre-ordering these, I'm still hoping for a better bonus from Amazon.

White, cuz i like Zekrom more, more triple battles, the trainer that switches in this game is the girl (the one that is travelling with ash now), and forest helps collect more pokemon.

^Yeah, me too. Gotta catch 'em all! It won't make a difference in the end though, they're the same game. I also happen to like the color white more than black, so my choice was easy.

you can catch more pokemon in white. the white forest has wild pokemon not catchable in black. black city has no wild pokemon

I'm so hyped for this Pokemon game. I wish Amazon would offer a $10 credit but better then nothing plus I already have a best buy gift card and will just be getting it there along with the 500 points.
I don't see a $10 credit on that page anywhere. They offer a 500 point bonus for a pre-order.
500 points=$10 reward cert

Well, i guess that clinches it for me. I haven't really been following these games too closely. I will probably play both at some point, but I think I'll get White first based on what you all have said.

I think I'll be getting it at BB. Otherwise TrU (depending on whether their bonuses are in fact the wall clings, which I'm not interested in).

I want to get both, but will be sticking with Black (for now). Why? I might as well wait a year for the inevitable Grey version.

I have two Pokemon playing kids, so they each get their own color and I keep my sanity while they both play the game.

Probably a stupid question, but if you order one of the games from Amazon.com is the day after the release date the earliest you can get it since the release date is a Sunday? If that's the case I'll probably just preorder it at Best Buy so I can pick it up on the release date.

I wish these games would have their street dates broken. I remember getting Ruby and Sapphire roughly a week or two before they were supposed to come out at Toys R Us.

Assuming you have prime using free 2-day shipping, you can get it anywhere between Monday and Wednesday quite possibly Thursday if they get there shipment late. That's what happened to me when Mario Sports Mix came out.

In my experience on Sunday releases they never shipped out a Nintendo game earlier than Sunday. I have no idea if that is to make sure they don't break the street date since the Big "N" is pretty big on that.

Helps to use google

Probably going to get one of these....simply due to nostalgia and wanting to feel like a kid again lol. But not from amazon, they're deals have been pretty lame as of recently. Been buying everything from KMart.
Dang, this beats Kmart actually if you're buying the set (or if you just need one copy).
Only if you plan to spend money @ Amazon afterwards (yes, I know that's a given), but the K-mart deal is definitely the best for a complete purchase, it's only tax + $2.50 lost, regardless.

I know this is a deal forum, but need advice.
Now, bare with me, I never played ANY POKEMON Game before (had xbox)
Is Pokemon black and white like a reboot of the series or from past Pokemon games????

What is the difference between Black and White?
Would I be able to get into this game since I never play a Pokemon game before?

As other people have said, this is probably the best game for a newbie to Pokemon to get in on (I'm sure Nintendo/GF planned it that way). It's not a direct sequel the way G/S/HG/SS (Generation II + IV) was to R/G/B/Y/FR/LG, (Generation I + III), (nor in the same time period, I think) and all the Pokemon in the Unova region are new and none of the previous 493 are obtainable in the wild [you need to trade Pokes over or use the Dream World online thingy. (Google it.)]

Usually there isn't much of a difference between versions aside from Pokemon availability (including the version's mascots since Gen 3), but B + W each have their own specific area in the game (Black has a City with trainers, and White has a Forest with exclusive Pokes), and I think some of the trainers may differ between versions (somebody said there's more triple battles in White), but version differentiating is usually resolved in the 3rd version and is only used @ the original release as more of a marketing ploy. :p

It's a combination. Sort of.

You get all new Pokemon, and cannot get the ones from previous generations until you beat the story in B&W. Among other things.

And I think you would be able to get into it. I think you can get into any Pokemon game as long as it's in the main series.

It is not a reboot of the series, rather a new generation. Each pokemon follows the same formula really, new gym leaders, new areas, some new pokemon, new legendaries, and a few tweeks (this gen allows for 3 on 3 battling). Unique to White and Black is that it is wall to wall new pokemon in-game from the beginning. Though Nerdy pokemaniacs such as myself will use the 2nd-10th playthroughs using old staples (The Red/Blue/Yellow Starters, Larvitar, whatever) through each time since you can transfer from the previous five DS games, this isn't required and actually isn't allowed on the first play-through.

Pokemon is like adult crack. On first view you see Pikachu and you think "child's game", but there are so many strategies both in-game (team-building with types and move-selection or collecting them all) and out of game (the competitive battling front is almost an entirely different animal).

Order it through amazon. At worse, you get a $10 credit for each game, and I'm almost positive they'll have a trade in value at $25 anyways back through for the first couple months (so in essence if you didn't like it, you'd get $35 through amazon anyways).
