Just saw this on the Aksys twitter feed:

http://www.aksysgames.com/2011/03/16/japan-benefit-sale/

As most of you, I’m sure, already know, the country of Japan was recently hit by a serious earthquake, followed by an even more devastating tsunami. We decided we wanted to do something to help. Our CEO, Akibo Shieh, had this to say:

The thoughts and prayers of our staff are with the people of Japan. We have many friends, relatives, and business partners who have found themselves suddenly faced with a level of tragedy that most of us can scarcely imagine. The scale of destruction is immense, but we have no doubt that with a combined effort it can be reversed, and every contribution—no matter the size—will play an important part in doing so. We can all play a part in helping Japan overcome this crisis.
With that in mind, we at Aksys Games would like to announce the following sale. It will run from today until March 24th, and 100% of the proceeds will be donated to charity efforts in Japan. If you can’t afford to buy anything, spread the word. Together, we can help.

Head to our store to check out the items on sale, or hit the jump for a list.

That would be crazy if 100% of all sales went to benefit the earthquake.

It will definitely be great for people who wanted to donate anyways, and now can get something out of it for their good nature.

But how much of it will really go to benefiting the quake, I am still skeptical.

Still though, mighty fine of them to do something like this.

Too bad they don't sell the soundtracks to Blazblue by themselves, want it, but already own both games across both platforms.

Might bite on the River City games though. Thanks for bringing it to attention OP.
Bought the Continuum Shift pack... Didn't much care to play the first game, but will try it again for a good cause.
Ditto, did the same exact thing. Plus been meaning to pick this game up for a while now since I've bought the DLC for it a while ago when it was on sale. All in all, its for a good cause and 100% goes to charity. Its really is the best deal of it all.:applause:

Tempted to give CS another chance if it's going to a good cause.

I know Continuum Shift 2 is being made. Anyone know if that's another disc-based game or if they're updating CS via DLC?

Bump.

Some gems mixed in with the average stuff (Deathsmiles is an absolute fun game if you haven't already, Record of Agarest War wasn't too bad either.) AND full proceeds to help Japan out?

It's a win win situation, please at least consider sharing this around if you don't buy anything.

I'm really happy to see all these benefits popping up

Most likely disk, since the three DLC characters are being made standard.

I was keeping my fingers crossed for 999. Ah well, this is still a deal and for a good cause. I guess I'll pick up something.

Any suggestions? I already have all the BlazBlue games/swag, and Guilty Gear too. I'm iffy on picking up Deathsmiles because of the awkwardness of non-gamer non-otaku friends too... that LE is tempting though.
BlazBlue: CS tempts me. Are the soundtracks any good?
I've honestly never listened to them. My LE is still wrapped, and I kept the ones they sent me sealed too. If it's similar to what they sent me, they'll just be in generic paper sleeves though.

100% of proceeds will be donated? This is a wonderful promotion. I picked up Continuum Shift, Agarest War (wish it was the LE edition!), and Deathsmiles LE, games I wouldn't have picked up otherwise (due to backlog). Bravo Aksys.

Jumped on Deathsmiles LE and Continuum Shift + Soundtracks. Been wanting these anyway and if it helps Japan in any way, then awesome.

I picked up CS for ps3 ... I've always wanted to get Blazeblu ever since I bought my TE fight stick. Now I feel justified by helping out with the catastrophe in Japan and supporting Aksys.

Is Record of Agarest War worth checking out? This is a neat way to contribute, but I already own BlazBlue Calamity Trigger, Continuum Shift, and DeathSmiles. Kudos to Aksys!

Arc System Works has said that BBCS2 is coming as a free patch to BBCS.

I can't find it right now on Dustloop, but that was the last I heard.

@RabbitSuit: You really should go for Deathsmiles, who cares what friends think when you're enjoying a solid Cave shmup? Probably the best one they've made by far.

@NinjaPenguin7: I enjoyed it, there's a lot of hidden depth to it, it's on my recommend list :D

Happy shopping!

a bit confused.. is Agarest war the LE or not? It comes with the pillow and mousepad it says.. but looks like the standard edition for some reason. If im not mistaken thats all the LE had extra anyway other than the box

i actually ordered the LE from europe since it has the artbook and junk. I was thinking of getting the xbox version here, but whats this.. is there a sequal coming soon or are they just patching the original? I dont want to buy it then have them release a better version. Ala Super street fighter

BTW too bad the xbox arcade sticks not on sale. I got the ps3 one and its sweet. Never got the xbox one because it looks kinda ugly. PS3 stick was on sale for 90 bucks on amazon a while back

hah ya i have a copy of deathsmiles but figure a sealed one would be great too. Still its 4am i better hit the sack. Hopefully theres still copies tomorow
Everyone, buy Deathsmiles.
I would but I don't have a Xbox 360.

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift (PS3) + Vol. 1 & Vol. 2 of the CD Soundtrack will have to do for me. I'm not really interested in any of the games but is for a good cause.

Picked up Deathsmiles LE, its for a good cause.

Maybe this topic should be stickied as well? Or another topic for Japan benefit sales like this one.

Agarest War by definition is not an LE, but it comes with most of the stuff from the LE. It's missing the OST and the box I believe.

CS2 is a revision of CS in the same vain as all the different variants of GGXX Accent Core, though I'm skeptical of it coming as a patch simply because of how the three DLC characters will be introduced proper into the game in CS2. For a company that has nickeled and dimed us in their last three games (CT, CS, and Hard Corps), it's not strange to think that ASW will sell a new game as oppose to patching an old one.

Blazblue Continuum Shift is the newest Blazblue game right? I am defiantly going to have to buy this now, I always had an interest in this game but I never bit. Now I have a reason to. Actually I would of gladly spent $40 for this because it goes to a good cause.
in for BBCS 360, I wanted to donate through my ebay auctions but found out that wasn't a good idea. hopefully Aksys keeps their promise.
I really don't see why they wouldn't I mean just think of all the negative press they would get by not donating and saying they would.

Thanks OP and Aksys. In for a copy of Deathsmiles LE. It's hard to restrain oneself from buying a good game and at the same time being able to make a contribution towards a good cause.

I think even profits is a great thing - to take a hit on the cost would be insane even for a company which is clearly in the black...

How interested I am depends a lot on whether this is gross proceeds or net proceeds. If only the profit is going to charity, anyone care to take a stab at what kind of % that is?

In for the comic as well.. Already had the first soundtrack from BB:CT's original release.. Gotta love Aksys' store with tax and shipping included in their prices!

Wish I could find something on the list to get. Already have everything that I'd play. Still, this is one heck of a deal. Helping people by buying video games? Win-win!

BlazBlue: Continuum Shift + Vol. 1 & 2 of the CD Soundtrack – $29.99

Are the Vol.1 & 2 the same as the 2-disc soundtrack that came with the Calamity Trigger LE? I don't think CS ever comes with a soundtrack CD itself.

Maybe "proceeds" isn't the right word. What we intend to do is send 100% of every dollar you spend in our store for the next week to Japan to help with earthquake/tsunami relief. In other words, it works like this:

 1. You buy, say, 999, for $35.
 2. We send that $35 to Japan.

The version of Agarest we sell is not the Limited Edition. It includes some of the stuff from the LE, like the mousepad and pillowcase, but not, like someone else mentioned, the CD or the, ahem, special box.

Whoop, looks like you posted this while I was writing the other post. :3

Anyway, yes. The CDs that come with CS are the CDs that were in the Calamity Trigger LE.
