General News
- The Penguins don't expect Sidney Crosby to return during the Playoffs.
Wow, he really must have had his brain scrambled.

- Lemaire will not return as Devils coach next season.

For now....
Wow, he really must have had his brain scrambled.
Well I'm not the one who put him into a game a day after getting a concussion against Washington, now am I?

But if it somehow got to Washington v. Pittsburgh in the Conference Finals, I'm sure he'd return and the news would be 'The father, the mother and the Holy Crosby' from the Bettman brigade.

C-A-P-S CAPS CAPS CAPS!

Anyways, enough threadcrapping. I'm going to the Caps/Rangers game on Wednesday, I'm really, really excited. Would love to see some Caps/Pens for Eastern Conference supremacy, those series are always fun, and we owe them some payback.

Well, I didn't get game 1 tickets, but I did end up getting tickets for game 2. Which is better logistically, don't have to worry about diriving to san jose and back during the work week.

Go Sharks!
sadly I don't see many matchups in the first round that are going to be pretty exciting.
are you kidding me? Montreal and Boston after that Chara incident... should be epic.

West coast gets no love, but the Kings Sharks series will be very heated.
Very nice work KingBroly!

I'll add my predictions tomorrow.
Thank you. I'll try and keep this updated throughout the Playoffs. But if my team gets eliminated in the first round I'll probably switch it to a wiki thread so people can update the scores/schedules in case I forget to.

As a side prediction, there will be a fight in the BOS/MON series in the first 5 minutes of Game 1, if not after the opening face-off.

What about the Canucks and Blackhawks? That has been a great series the past 2 seasons so this should be just as fun. You need to remember the Hawks aren't your typical 8 seed. If they would have won on Sunday that would have jumped them up to the 5th seed.

So that matchup for sure is going to be a fun one to watch with many others already mentioned above me.

Western Conference
Canucks over Blackhawks in 5
Sharks over Kings in 7
Red Wings over Coyotes in 5
Ducks over Predators in 6

Eastern Conference
Bolts over Penguins in 6
Bruins over Canadians in 7
Flyers over Sabres in 7
Ovechkin over Rangers in 5
dafoomie, that's a rad video. I love Boston's foghorn, btw. Though in the video title, it should be Milan, not Mllan.
It was an i, just a capital I. Stupid youtube automatically assumes you want to edit the title if you click on it.
Here's hoping!
The thing about the Caps right now that I hope remains true is that they're playing really good hockey right now, are getting healthy, and most of their players haven't put in a full season, so they're not over-exerted.

It's like A-Rod. He took a month off at the beginning of the season and had a tremendous post-season 2 years ago while the Yankees won the World Series.

I'm going to be boring and say that there will be no upset in the west. In the east I can see Buffalo and Montreal pulling off an upset. Penguins to me won't falter in the first round.
Looking for some feedback on this video, specifically the music. I'm not sure if I should change it.
I think you should remove it all together, being about Boston and all... ;)

And the Caps are winning it with defense, which is something we've never really done the past few years. I saw in the Washington Post this morning that our Goals Allowed stat was .5 goals fewer this season than the past few, and that's HUGE for the playoffs. Hopefully we can keep it up.

And it will go in the OP.

EDIT:
And done. I also decided to make it a Wiki thread just in case I forget to update.

It's too bad the Kings couldn't havebeaten the Ducks in that last game. Even with the injuries, the Kings could beat the Predators. Still, a matchup with the Sharks is better than one with the Canucks.

Last minute predictions:

Capitals over Rangers 4-1
Flyers over Sabres 4-2
Bruins over Canadiens 4-2
Penguins over Lightning 4-3

Canucks over Blackhawks 4-2
Sharks over Kings 4-2
Red Wings over Coyotes 4-2
Ducks over Predators 4-3

Preds aren't the toughest team in the league. But Rinne is having a crazy good year and he can steal a series from any team in the league.

CAPS WIN! CAPS WIN! THANK LORD ALMIGHTY, THE CAPS WIN!!! Alexander Semin!

First game 1 win under Chef Boyardee

All of today's games have been decided and updated. At least the Caps-Rangers game didn't go 4 overtimes as is playoff tradition.

Wings came out really flat, then again that's been the case at home too many times this year. Killing off that 5 on 3 in the first and Jimmy making a few real good quality saves to keep it a 1-0 game was the difference.

Wow. Great defensive battle between the Sabres and Flyers. Buffalo took way too many penalties, but pulled out the 1-0 win thanks to some great shot blocking and Ryan Miller's ridiculous goaltending. 33 shots - 33 saves.

So in each of the first two days we've had:

- 1 Overtime game (NYR/WSH) (LA/SJ)
- 2 Shutouts (TB/PIT & CHI/VAN) (MON/BOS & BUF/PHI)

I don't know if I want this trend to continue or not.

Want to know a secret on how to beat the Flyers?

Put them on the Power Play, they'll never, ever score.

Haha, well it wasn't for lack of trying. I don't think I've ever seen a team rely on one player more than the Sabres rely on Miller. They're a mediocre team with a great goalie.

The Eastern Conference is a crapshoot. It's looking like any team can beat any other team. I wouldn't be surprised to see most/all of these series go six or seven games.

I hate to say it, but the Penguins are looking like the only solid team in the East right now after one game.

Pronger when he returns will make a huge difference in the attitude of the Flyers team. They don't have the same swagger without him.

F me.

My lady can't go to the Sharks game Saturday because of a family emergency. None of my friends can go because they either have other obligations already or can't afford to pay for the ticket. So now I might have to sell the tickets, because I can't afford to eat the cost of a ticket. Bummer!
