Price has stayed the same since it's DotD feature:

Darkspore @ Amazon - $29.99

No Steamworks in the non-Steam versions, although Amazon's digital download service is terrific.

Also, no DRM with this game, so it can be installed on multiple PC's; however, it does use the EA login, so only a single person can be playing it at any one time.

Still on sale, people--no need to fret over EA's sale being over.

Physical Copy is sold for $19.99 now, but its sold by a 3rd party and has $5.50 shipping, same link still not a bad deal! Picked it up yesterday and its pretty fun, i hope to get really in to it.

PM me your Darkspore name, maybe we'll get to party up and tackle some longer chains.

Sorry to bother, but if you happen to know, can Amazon's download be used on Steam? I downloaded Homefront on Amazon and the CD Key worked on Steam, but I've heard it's not the same for all games.

Thanks in advance!
Current Happenings:

If a game contains Steamworks, then it can be synced with Steam. Many of THQ's PC releases have this ability, which is why Homefront worked. Few of EA's PC releases have Steamworks because they have their own digital agenda, so, sadly, Darkspore does not sync with Steam.

The game does have it's own auto-update mechanism built into the GUI, so, much like Steam, the game takes care of it's own updates every time you launch it.

Okay... but this game is a Diablo clone, when could you ever play any online co-op action RPG with two people logged into one cd-key?

If you play offline/kill your net, there's no DRM.

More stupid questions :)

1. If I get a physical copy, can I activate on steam?

2. What if I buy the game through steam? That's gotta work through steam, right?

Too bad you can't play offline -

"PERSISTENT INTERNET CONNECTION, EA ACCOUNT, REGISTRATION WITH ENCLOSED SERIAL CODE AND ACCEPTANCE OF END USER LICENSE AGREEMENT REQUIRED TO PLAY"

Kinda interested in this game but that sorta bugs me.

1. Generally, either a game activates on Steam or it doesn't:
https://support.stea...=7480-wusf-3601

That will tell you what games will. If it's not listed, it won't activate on Steam.

2. Have you ever used Steam? Serious question, not trying to be a dick.

Yep, I use steam. I know the #2 question is seriously stupid, but I'm almost willing to pay the extra money to buy it directly from steam so it's in the steam library. Does that make sense?

EDIT:
OK, looks like the physical CD key won't work on steam. Thanks for pointing me to the list.

So... are the characters you play by yourself stored locally, or can ANY character you play with be used online since it requires login? If the latter is the case, this game is essentially online-only, no?

Everything you do is saved server-side, so, yes, online is required. Personally, I see this as a huge benefit for two main reasons: you'll never lose your save file due to hardware failure; and people won't be able use hacked saves, which means all characters and stats are legit.

I was merely curious just for clarification on whether there actually was "DRM." But if there's no offline mode at all, I have no issue with the so-called DRM. One instance of a CD-KEY allowed on BNet at any given time, what's the difference here? Requiring a login shouldn't bug anyone... why would it? The benefits are definitely there, yeah. No more trainers and whatever else nonsense people use when they're bored. Only issue is this game seems to have sold pretty bad, who knows if EA will even support the online or shut down the servers in the (near?) future.
