[IMG-R=5838]24198[/IMG-R]According to a trusted source, Walmart will be dropping the price of the Nintendo 3DS on August 9th, 3 days before the official drop takes effect. This means savvy shoppers will be able to get the new low price and the 20 free downloadable games available as a reward to early adopters of the 3DS. Just connect to the Nintendo eShop at least once before 11:59 p.m. Eastern time on Aug. 11 to qualify for the free games.

A trusted source gave me the news.
So you are hanging out with Yakuza?
How long will this last?
The $169.99 will be the new retail price and the free games will be available as long as you login to the eshop by Aug 12th I think it is.

Cheapy you have another disgruntled trader apparently.

So you can buy it at Wal-Mart from the 9th-11th for the lower price and get the games, but after the 12th starts, it's just the price?

Correct. Though I would think you have until 11:59 to get the free games, but it hasn't really been clarified which games will be available when.

Figures this gets announced today after I bought one earlier at Best Buy, ugh, would've preferred avoiding the price guarantee charade.

I find it somewhat odd that Nintendo is gonna be selling the DSi XL and the 3DS for the exact same price. Anyone think the DSi XL drops anytime soon?

I think I'm gonna bite on this one now. Thanks OP. Since the Vita has been delayed, this looks like a good time to pick this up and play Zelda and RE. Looks like Walmart won over Amazon on this one imo. Let's see how Amazon will react. hehehe.
I will wait for some one to make sure this works before i rush out and buy one...
Make sure what works?

If you're talking about the free games, that won't be up until September anyway.

I bought one at BB the day of the price drop being announced. I hope this will be advertised so I can PM earlier than the 12th. I'm not nervous at all about BB honoring their policy but the sooner I can get it adjusted the sooner I'll quit thinking about it.

he means the drop actually happened at WM on the 9th
damn i wish i lived near a walmart
Now, that's something you don't see very often.

Anyways, I hope the DSi gets a price drop pretty soon (be nice if the DS lite did as well).
hopefully amazon follows suit as well! cba to buy from walmart...
amazon is already selling it at $169, they just won't ship it
And gamer point... $150 dollar = $10 reward
I'm just about positive that is only for games & accessories. Not consoles. Wish it worked on consoles though.
There goes my plan on waiting until Black Friday! Guess i'll finally get to play my opened copy of Zelda come Tuesday:bouncy:
Haha I was gonna do the same, wait til black friday but I might have to double dip early. Good thing I sold my 3DS for 210 last week :D

This is the first time I heard this really you dont live near a walmart

pretty sure consoles are excluded from the gamer's club bonus

I wish I lived near a Walmart for this (the one disadvantage of NYC!). I'm worried about getting Best Buy to price adjust, as I always have issues with them price matching and when using manufacturer coupons.

Yea there are none in NYC.

When Nintendo announced it last week, they said anyone who logs onto the eShop before 11:59PM on August 11 will get the games (with the NES games starting on September 1 and the GBA games sometime by the end of 2011).

What are the chances that this is just an ad typo?

The units may be in stock that day but not available to process for sale -- for $170. I wonder if they will be stickered with the "DO NOT SELL before 8/12" notice.

We shall see.
